You don't have to go that lateral. Shirou is in the middle of trying to stop a crisis at a nuclear power plant when he realizes he's out of his element, and Alaya makes the contract with him in a moment of his desperation. In any world where this meeting doesn't happen he dies there. This is shown in UBW.
@@ProjectMouthwash Tbf, Archer specifically would’ve died there because he had no backup. Rin was in England and her life, Sakura at home and Saber to dead to care. UBW’s epilogue has Archer state that with Rin’s support his future should not happen. The show one upped that with her traveling the world with him too. So judging by age and time frame for the contract scene she should be involved. He can’t save the plant but she might. … Btw amazing job with the episode. EMIYA: "We're in some backward world were Rin and Shirou form some weird romantic dynamic. And not only that, but you and Rin are not only Master and Servant... but also... you are..." You can hear his inner Pendragon simp screaming at that.
Shirou: "This is my adoptive mother, and my adoptive mother's girlfriend, who is also my girlfriend. And ... okay now that I say it out loud, it sounds weird." Arthur: "Gonna be honest, this barely registers on my incest meter." Rin: "It registers for me, but I'm into it." Oh my gosh, I just realized and adore that Archer constantly assuming things would continue like the Fate path (until it diverges to his own) wasn't just a joke on what he would know, it's a character flaw and his primary defining trait! No matter how much he saw things change, he always believed things would go back to the way they were. That his path was the only path he could take. It's the reason he's still fighting Shirou, and Shirou needs to defeat him. It's everything he stands for! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT
Essentially yes. What Archer consistently seems to fail to realize is that time is not a single, linear axis but a sprawling tapestry of various branching timelines. He is so caught up in his regrets and despair that he cannot even conceive the notion of this Shirou being a separate existence from him, despite the fact that HIS presence is part of what shifts this timeline so drastically and results in Shirou surpassing him.
@@draochvar9646 He realizes. But, in true Shirou fashion, he chooses to reject that notion, because the only thing he has left in this war is to, literally, throw a temper tantrum and pray that, somehow, that's enough. It's not, as since the beggining of the novel things have changed enough for Shirou to not become him, but he still rejects it (technically, Archer comes from a timeline similar but not equal to Fate, where things ended worse and he bonded, although not romantically, with Illya). In Abridged, though? He is an old man, a boomer, that rejects the notion that things change, and he comes from the Deen anime. So... what you said, basically XD
I have to nitpic and say that NASU stated that archer isn’t from the fate path because saber dose fall in love with “fate” shirou and as a result shirou never becames a a counter guardian but a regular heroic spirit because that is the only way for him to reach Avalon
@@Dont_care_4_U pretty much yea. UBW EMIYA is from a messed up Fate route, where he won the war but failed Saber. Which is part of why he's damn bitter about things
Yeah, it’s why he’s going the extra mile because simply destroying Shirou wouldn’t be enough because nothing would happen then. He’s trying to destroy the whole concept of a hero of justice he mindlessly pursued in life embodied in his younger self. Simply getting rid of him won’t be enough; he’s got to destroy the very ideal of it. Create a paradox big enough that it’ll hopefully encompass time and space and erase himself. Very unlikely to even work to begin with, but he’ll take that chance anyway.
"I'm like a million years old" - worth noting that despite Fate's weird portrayal of him, a major plot point in his story is that he never makes it to adulthood. The reason he was the only one that could fight Medb was that he was the only real warrior too young to be affected by a curse on all of Ulster's men. All of the events that only happened because he was the only one able to fight against the Cattle Raid are still canon in fate, there's just no explanation for how a 20-something man and the Child Brigade were the only soldiers able to get out of bed. Also, the Chulainn part is pronounced like the surname of the vampires in Twilight - Cullen. There's also his actual name, Setanta.
@@Rehcras When he is talking about something he actually 'cares' about rather than just to accomplish a particular goal or bantering, he really does end up rambling.
Clarification for the above comment: FSN:UBW is kind of meant as a follow up to FSN:F. The old FSN anime is based on the manga which is in turn partially based on the Fate route and partially based on the UBW route.
that is exclusive to the anime tho, the vn explains everything properly, that's why anime onlys are never really taken seriously in any discussions surrounding this series lol

Would be cool, but Archer actually switched to calling Shirou Nightwing last episode. "Oh, what's this? Has Robin graduated to Nightwing and taken issue with Batman's methods?"
I think Archer started calling Shirou "Nightwing" in the previous episode, due to the whole killing a normal defenseless human being(Caster's Master). But yeah even though he hates his younger self(and probably himself), he can give credit where it's due.

It does not surprise me at all Cu Culainn can continue to get back up and keep fighting even after being mortally wounded. The Cu Culainn of legend was known to do this too. The version of the Cooley Raid that I first read had him tying himself to standing stone with his own intestines and continuing to fight another three days.
battle continuation is also straight up an ability in the mobile game he got because of that specific story, look up some Cu Culainn solos of bosses and watch a common 3 star character battle continuation infinitely to beat the hardest content in the game. @Spicystachegamer wdym? The whole point of abridged series is to condense and shorten the adapted series with a lesser number of episodes in a comical manner, so naturally the source material will include more plot points just like how the VN explains things more clearly than the anime due to it having a longer amount of time, I'm also pretty that other abridged series such as SAO abridged and DBZA never provided more information that were missing in the original series
@eyasa9448 no but they dd make series that were either not that good to begin with amazing, and series that were good but in retrospect had alot of plot holes way better and funnier, plus dbza highlighted the characters flaws like goku's lust for battle and terrible parenting in a good way.
Speaking of Lancer and dying it cracks me up that when summarizing the kinda Fate Route, Archer gives a excerpt about why each servant death was different or significant. Lancer... "ranca ga shin da" thas it
He definitely suffers the most, but he also gets the most out of the war in this route. Fate he gets stuck in a losing battle with gil, and heavens feel he gets jobbed. Here he gets a fair fight and gets revenge for bazette.

@@129_raihanelfazri3 Basically, a lot of the time you can't read Gaelic names as they would be spelt in english or you'll end up mispronouncing them.
@@ProjectMouthwash
Tbf, Archer specifically would’ve died there because he had no backup.

I mean, this is not the first time a show gets it's intro interrupted halfway, or messed up in a comically embarrassing manner(looking at you Gintama)😂
Oh my gosh, I just realized and adore that Archer constantly assuming things would continue like the Fate path (until it diverges to his own) wasn't just a joke on what he would know, it's a character flaw and his primary defining trait!
Uh-huh.
"I talk too much" is perhaps the single best thing Shirou could every say to EMIYA. Like... god damn, that is perfect!
Archer does talk too much and doesn’t get to the point.

The version of the Cooley Raid that I first read had him tying himself to standing stone with his own intestines and continuing to fight another three days.
And when someone finally approached, his sword arm fell and killed another guy after he was already dead.

Ah yes the moment Lancer became such a Gigachad that he transcended every bad and disgusting path that VNs sometimes throw at the heroine. Stabbing through their heart along with Kirei and the garbage known as Shinji. Truly a spear that alters causality itself, interfering with bad ending routes.
EMIYA: How did you figure it out?
Shirou: You literally called yourself Shirou Emiya.
EMIYA: Ah.
Makes sense.
There was also the calling Shirou baby this ep which he then retorts with "I just called myself baby"
And his excuse was that he didn't think Shirou was listening.
EMIYA: Wait, I thought you didn't heard that
Shirou: Did I misheard it?
16:35 "I killed Kennedy."
Is this a Rolling Stones reference? "I shouted out, who killed the Kennedy's when after all it was you and me?" From Sympathy for the Devil?
...Well it certainly fits.
Huh it even fits the satan thing lmao.
That's insanely clever if it is.
I just want to note how genuinely anazing this abridge is like in the past I have seen plenty if comedic abridges that either make fun of the other series or corrects its mistakes, but this is a geuninely good abridged that doesn't necessarily stab fun at the original and instead builds the characters in its own way with its own personality that are the same but vastly different at the same time
This is up there with DBZA and SAO-A. Maybe even above them
“Until you went on ALL ANAKIN SKYWALKER ON ME”
… all too accurate.
I can't believe Archer was responsible for [Insert a celebrity I was REALLY attached to here.]'s death. THAT MONSTER.
I can't believe he killed Freddy Mercury!
Who is that ? I really dont know . In my thought it was EMIYA kill rin of his timeline cause after that he said the one shirou love = Rin
It that right ?
Jim Henson, it had to be Jim Henson. Muppets would be self aware and initiating WW3 if he survived into the present era.
@@duongtran-mp6pk He said Celebrity. Rin can be many things, but she won't be a celebrity, and that's by choice. She is a magus, after all.
My big question is did Archer kill Hitler?
10:55 I just realized the imagery of Shiro looking up at his future self who is sitting at the top of an opulent, but ruined staircase that covered in an equally ruined blood red carpet in front of an entryway bathed in darkness leading into an empty place of the dead and tragic...fucking love Fate
Today is the DAY!!!!!!!
WHEN'S THE DAY?!?!?
Nobody panic nobody panic
Today is the day?!
TODAY’S THE DAY!
TODAY IS THE DAY
As an Irish speaker, Lancer’s answer to Rin’s question on how to pronounce his name was such cathartic bliss. Hot damn I haven’t cried laughing that hard in a long time. 😂
"IS THE PAST ANIME?! Is history anime?! Is the present anime?"
Yes. The reason EMIYA doesnt usually use his reality marble till the last moments... That thing's his personal hell. Cool functions in may have.
I just discovered this series, and not 10 minutes ago finished episode 10. I've never felt so lucky.
That's what we call a progamer move.
You live a blessed life.
Congratulations. Now prepare to suffer with the rest of us as we wait 9 more months for episode 11.
"Cool, god's gonna fall down now." THUD.
You all know how to make really good jokes.
“just shut up and meet your God” beautiful last words Mario
"STOP LEARNING UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS I AM RIGHT HERE" - myself
July 2024 is literally the year and month people can acquire Unlimited Blade Works.
Actually, it was August that people can acquire UBW... along with Fate and HF.
The Remaster dropped last week.
@@NaviciaAbbot nah it's because you can play UBW in AX
"Dwown in yow ideaws and pewish, Shiwo Eminya"
Archer having a crisis at the Shirou/Rin/Saber trouple/harem is one of my favorite little bits ngl.
The writing in this series very obviously comes from a place of honest love for the Fate franchise, and this episode must've been the peak of that. The honest appreciation for these characters and the wider Fate universe does not go unnoticed. Thank you so much for the work you guys put out!
Agreed. Simply a tour de force.
I know right? The best Abridged series come out of love for the source material. I love the references to obscure and often overly complicated Nasuverse lore (like UBW technically not being a Noble Phantasm or the Moon)
Episode: Ends
Me: UBW Abridged! NO! YOU WERE THE BEST THING ABOUT TODAY!
This is exactly why it is important to put the time and energy into something and not rush things. The quality produced here is exceptional. Your team deserves so much more.
I love the idea that archer has just confirmation biased himself into thinking saber was gay despite all the evidence she was into him
Words cannot express how much of a bro Cu is. Lancer lover for life. Also Archer calling Shirou 'Babe' and then pausing to reconsider his life choices/ words is just comedy gold. Love it.
Also the casual insertion of high concept Type-MOON lore in an abridged production is just top tier. I really hope that one day you guys also adapt Heaven's Feel, even if that's years in the future, cause I know you'd knock it out of the park.
Wonder how well they’d do with angel B.E.A.T’s? Can they make such a tear fest into a comedy and do it justice!? The world may never know
18:25 "The actually is important I think." My favourite line, such a quiet callback to Rin calling him "actually Satan" ^^
Archer and Saber arguing over who committed the worst war crimes made me laugh harder than anything else in my life.
23:50 That whole montage of the Fate Route's anime with Saber's theme in the background is just *(Chef's kiss)* what a perfect callback
Too bad they retconned it so that Saber didn’t love Shirou.
@@shawnellesmith Nah that tracks, Archer doesn't come from the actual Saber route shown in the anime or VN where Shirou and Saber fall in love, he's from a very similar timeline where their romance just happened to not work out, no joke that's canon
@@casuallectures2655 So is that actual canon from the source material or was it made up by the abridged version? If it’s the former, provide me with some sources please.
@shawnellesmith It's in the Visual Novel, they speak vaguely about the exact details but the fact that Archer explicitly knows everything that's supposed to happen in the Saber route, whereas he's repeatedly caught off guard throughout the UBW and Heaven's Fell routes pretty much confirms his timeline was similar to Saber Route
We know that he failed to romance Saber in his timeline because love is what prevents Shirou from going down the exact same path as him in each of the 3 routes
--Saber reinforces his devotion to heroism in her route
--Rin keeps him grounded in UBW
--Sakura drives him to give up his ideals for her in Heaven's Feel
@@casuallectures2655 The fact that he knows what happens in the Saber and caught off guard by the other routes doesn’t mean he failed in pursuing Saber. It sounds like that aspect was made up for this abridged series.
35:01 Most "Mom" sounding bit of dialogue that ever escaped Saber's mouth.
