I've never understood how your line art is so controlled if you know what I mean. My hands aren't that shaky but I can never get one line how I want it how do you do it 😭😭
Same the only way is practice. TvT
There are line exercises you can do, literally drawing lines and shapes over and over again. But the most important is having ‘confidant lines’, fast and little hesitation.
I don’t want to stay do this or that « cause i’m an expert » (which I’m not). But something that worked for me is that I drew mountains or something that has texture. After that I tended to draw subjects with curves. Until I was confident and without thinking about it, I did it.
Yeah, the big thing is drawing confidently so that you're not going slow. Going slow pretty much guarantees wonky lines for me. That and repetition.

Hey kitty!! My number one tip is to just draw your outlines confidently. Don't worry about the outcome and just practice drawing and making lines with complete confidence. And another tip is to practice with colored pencils instead of pens or ink because it doesn't bleed or smudge ✨

Dear Kasey, I always admire how you apply shadow and the your colour choice for shadowing. Can you consider doing a video where you offer some tips?
I always just use my exacto knife to cut the insides of the wire and reposition the pages in my sketchbook. Didn’t know they made a sketchbook already like that

Hey Kasey, love your art (as usual):)!! I think the reason your water brush was leaking so much is that they’re designed to be dipped straight onto the unwet watercolor block, and not watered down. Of course, this makes mixing colors a lot harder, so it makes sense if this is why you watered your colors down. :)

I hadn't drawn in years, had a bit of a rough patch, then I found your videos and now I draw everyday, I have 5 palettes of different watercolours and I've designed my first OCs in over a decade. Kuratake paints can be used thick for max opacity, or thinned out for transparency. That's why I love them!!!

I love the drawing!
With waterbrushes, I've found it helps to put the paper upright, on an easel or just taped to something. That way, the brush isn't constantly being angled downward.
Finally, does anyone know if there is a watercolour sketchbook out there that uses this type of binding? That would be so handy!

I know I'm a bit late, but there actually are watercolor sketchbooks like this! The same brand makes acrylic and watercolor sketchbooks with 140lb paper. I typically get them from my local walmart myself for about $7.00 or so

I've seen other artists struggle with the brush from this box as well. It looks tricky! The Big Bad Riding Hood Wolf idea was so cute and the hoodie was such a nice touch
The artists I've seen struggle tend to hold the brush quite tight and squeeze it. But you don't need to squeeze it at all. It flows to the tip (basically like osmosis - moves from where there is lots of water to where there is not much water) just by being left as is. The only reason to squeeze is if you are wanting to wash out the brush to replace with a different colour.
I've seen youtube artists have this issue with lots of brands of brush pen, one of which I own and I never had the problem unless I chose to squeeze it! As long as you hold it gently like you would a regular paint brush it just works.

Hey Kasey, I just found your channel looking for watercolor tips, and I love your videos (and your art style is adorable!). The sketchbook I bought for my watercolors has removable pages like the one in this video, and I love it! It's so nice to be able to paint without worrying about the spiral binding, and then to replace the page when it's all dry and in need of a place to store.

They make rubbery pick-up things that will easily and cleanly remove the masking fluid. They look a bit like bumpy erasers. They also are used for picking up excess rubber cement.

I just got and used this box this last week. It was fun to experiment with. I got menthol violet, cream, and a burnt sienna red. The menthol looked more aqua than violet though.
Technical difficulties aside It turned out so cute! As soon as you said you'd make a wolf red riding hood I couldn't help but think of The Little Red Wolf by Amelie Flechais, I think it's the type of book you'd like :)

I believe that so many are CRAP! I found one that was much better, more expensive for sure! But, sometimes you have to spend your money on quality supplies. I was a little surprised that most of you don't have those kinds of sketchbooks? I have seen them a lot in my country/bookstore.
I love my Kuretake watercolors. I got two sets of 36 for a steal and all there fun sets (gems, pearls and metallics). I do not do watercolor as a colorist, but I adore them for backgrounds and helping me fill in big spaces I do not want to waste my Prisma colors on. I usually apply ground to my paper so what happened to you in this video does not happen. I am a big fan of Daniel Smith as well gotta get some of those watercolor stix

i got that sketchbook from jerry’s artorama when i went and i ended up hating it. i carried it around at school all day and all of the pages started to bend and fall out. it’s not a good on-the-go option, if that’s what you’re looking for.
