My guess is that they didn't include the alcohol, because isopropyl alcohol can't be shipped in the mail. In Canada, isopropyl alcohol is kind of regulated. You can only buy certain strengths, and the stronger stuff can only be purchased in limited amounts. Anywho... my point was that (as far as I know) alcohol can't be sent through the mail, as well as regulated items... but I could be wrong.

There are limits on amount, it can't be transported by air (so mailing options are limited), and it can't be sent internationally. Basically, if it's highly flammable/combustible it's regulated pretty heavily because no one wants a box with a bottle of rubbing alcohol to explode, especially not while in the air. Plus, different countries have different regulations on isopropyl alcohol. The US I don't think has any because I've seen up to 95% in stores, no quantity limits. I imagine this is a pretty big deal for the post office if Canada has restrictions since people don't think much about what they're sending/bringing across that border.
Plus its heavy (compared to the average art subscription box), making it expensive to ship. Its super cheap and widely available so I'd rather just go pick up a big bottle from the store than have it take up part of a subscription package anyway. Its very useful stuff, I always have some on hand.

SAME! I'm like screaming Noooooo in slo-mo.. A lot of times things like that come with a little pin in the cap to poke them, but always poke 1st, save cutting for when the tip inevitably eventually clogs..
Loved your video! I had received my Paletteful Pack at the end of September and went through the same motions. Lol. Isopropyl alcohol is what I ended up using to clean my brushes, but nail polish is genius for on the fly. Also, I had a problem with the rainbow and gold until I realized there's a ball inside that helps mix up the shimmer. So make sure you shake and give it a nice tap until you hear the ball drop out of the nozzle (if you're not getting enough ink out).
You can use alcohol inks pretty much like watercolors, just on non porous materials (glass, glossy cardstock, metal, etc.) and with isopropyl alcohol instead of water to dilute. That's why the colors are so vibrant, so they can be diluted a lot and last a really long time. They also sell alcohol ink blending solution, but isopropyl alcohol is much cheaper for essentially the same job. In my experience you want to mix what you need when you need it because the alcohol, especially in high concentrations, will evaporate and make the ink more concentrated again if you take too long. And if you paint on glass you have to seal it with a resin sealant to keep the colors from fading away or rubbing off over time.
hehehe yes, rinse your brush in isopropyl alcohol. Since you asked for tips, I have uploaded a couple of demos and tips for these inks on my channel now. Hope it helps!
If you try to use these again, try doing it with regular rubbing alcohol and interspersing it with a little alcohol in between in drops- also depending on how it's used, the alcohol and whatever is in your nail polish remover can eat through the finish on the board if it's acrylic based
These inks were really fun! I loved the iridescent one (it’s super fun to put drops on stuff in my sketchbook) but.... I’ll admit I don’t used alcohol ink enough for it to probably get the use it should 😅
Isopryol alcohol is best used for a thinner and for getting the color off your brush! It adds the alcohol back to the color that evaporates extremely fast that's why the smell is so strong
I kinda hate when people say “abstract art” when they are talking about non objective art, in fact most of Kasey’s art is abstract because it isn’t just like real life yet it resembles real life and we can tell what it is, realistic art is when something is the same as real life, and non objective is just as it sounds, it doesn’t resemble anything. One thing with ink is, unlike watercolor, going over it repeatedly with your brush while it's wet makes the texture worse, not smoother. Ink dries much faster than watercolor, so it's kind of like going over watercolor while it's half dry, it will get streaky because it hasn't had a chance to dry completely before more ink was added/blended over it. The less you go over the ink the smoother it will be, but ink in general is kind of like a granulating watercolor, even if you apply it perfectly it still may have texture.
8:17 the reason that’s a really good purple is because there are two sets of primary colors, I’m not 100% sure about this. The ‘traditional’ set is red, blue and yellow and the ‘non-traditional’ set is magenta, cyan and yellow. Something about positive and subtractive Idk. But the ‘non-traditional’ set can make the ‘traditional’ set, excluding yellow, Ex} magenta + yellow = Red. And in this scene she uses magenta and cyan right next to each other which causes them to mix. You can find videos on this topic, I’m no expert but I did do some research.
Unless i'm also doing it wrong, I found adding water to alcohol ink made it gooey and sticky. Which in turn made it hard to clean off my brushes with water bc it would just stick to the brush. Using rubbing alcohol helps removed it though.
Watching you do this was a relief lol. My local art supply store gave me a ton of YUPO paper to try out and I’ve been struggling to figure out what to do... I’ve tested it and so far my Ohuhu markers have made the coolest effect... I’m pretty sure they did it because of Inktober and the way ink reacts on the paper...

So at some point the audio shifted for me and things would be going fine in the video but suddenly I’d hear “WHOOAAA” and then a second later disaster would occur. I let it happen a few times and it was like Kasey was seeing her future and it had me on the edge of my seat each time
If you do want a wide tip hold the top and bottom before snipping and use a bit of a sawing motion so that it doesn't cut straight through. Also use a thumbtack for piercing the top.

They are alchohol inks that means instead of water you would use the alchohol. With watercolor inks you use water. Get what I mean?

silly, if it was printer ink it would have cost $500 for that box, and she would have run out while swatching.
