Im a 90s baby and lost all my cards in a flood in 2001, my wife and I lost our jobs due to covid so even when you can find retail packs in aus they're way beyond our budget, but we managed to spoil our 11 year old son yesterday for his birthday with a prizm cello pack from EBay , first pack and we hit an anthony edwards silver. Thanks to finding your channel and app now my son gets to fall in love with his new passion and I get to do it all over again :) bless !
You were spot on with the comment and I got into the Hobby in 1981 and I had all the superstar Rc's Jordan, Kobe I mean all of them in all the Sports and I had about half of all my Card's stolen from me about a year ago and I will never be able to get over it!!
I’ve been collecting all my life hadn’t really thought about selling any of them until recent years. Working on going through all I have to see what is worthy to get graded or worth selling. Your videos are helping me with that process. Love your videos and your knowledge.
I think Topps Dynasty is overall undervalued. We see crazy sale prices for RPAs from NT and Flawless from football and basketball, but that hasn't happened in baseball to the same degree. I gotta think that is only a matter of time before people pick up on that. Topps Dynasty has the best RPAs in the baseball world.
What I've learned, Buy sealed boxes of cards for the fun of opening. Buy graded cards to build your collection. If you're tight on money, cards graded 9s are a great way to build your collection on a smaller budget. SGC 9 seems to be at a much larger discount then PSA 9 and that's what I buy when I can't afford the PSA 9 version
I've recently gotten into sports cards and this video was tremendously helpful. I'm relatively knowledgeable about football and basketball, but knew little to nothing about baseball.
Geoff, If you read the comments. I want to let you know that I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and understanding of the hobby with me and others. I returned to the hobby two months ago. And I am in pretty deep. Having trouble deciding what should be PC, sold later or sold now
That's a new era that's on the horizon. The slab junk era. When the C word hit and the hobby went nuts, a ton of people had EVERYTHING graded lol. Yea, def a new era on it's way.
Geoff as a pokemon collector I greatly appreciate your informative card videos. Sports is fun to dip into sometimes but I am way out of my element. Obviously part of the appeal is pulling a valuable card that you could grade or sell, videos like this really help me understand what im looking at in the rare occasion I buy some packs.
Unfortunately I began collecting as a kid in 1987 and only collected through the early 90s. I was a Topps guy. Didn’t get into other brands back then. Just recently got back into the hobby and realizing there is so much more now that I know very little about. I am soaking it all in and enjoying the learning. I am investing in cards now to build my collection.
Hey Geoff, I’ve been a fan of your videos for almost 2 years now. I appreciate the knowledge you bring and your enthusiasm for our hobby. Another interesting high-end Topps product is Luminaries, which limits the print run of each card to at most /15 copies. All the best, my friend.
Just got back into collecting and investing within the last few months with my 8-year-old son. I decided to start him out with the Base Series 1, 2, and Update but going forward I think I will just buy him the factory set for Series 1 and 2 and then let him rip for the Update. Where I am struggling is what to collect for myself. I think I am at a point where I am just going to target Auto's of key rookies and favorite players and buy them seperately. It seems I would save a lot of money with this strategy over buying boxes and ripping. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Well, one would argue (eh emm, Stryker Breaks) that what is the fun of "just buying the card" compared to ripping a pack and pulling it yourself. Me myself, I can't really afford to spend a ton of money on, lets say anything 2018 to 2019 sealed products. The value packs can be pretty reasonably priced on Ebay sometimes and those are what I normally go after. Value packs and fat packs. The value packs sometimes have a special parallel pack with the regular packs. They have potential to have huge bangers in them just as well as the boxed products. And again, the packs are way cheaper then blasters, mega blasters, etc and you'll be paying less per card compared to those boxes. But sometimes just buying the card you want is usually the best way to go. I myself do that just because like you said, it can be cheaper than to chase the card. I personally collect rookies, prospects (Bowman 1st cards) and the big stars. I have a few favorite players i will PC. Fernando Tatis Jr. is my favorite player at the moment and wish I could go back to February 2020 ( when i got back into collecting after 20 some years )when his rookies were under 20 bucks, including the chrome version. But that's another story that makes me cringe talking about it lol. But as far as who or what to collect is entirely your personal preference. Watch a few card break videos and that should give you some kind of idea what interests you the most.
Oh btw, i wasn't bashing Stryker Breaks by any means. Matter of fact, he was one of the channels that got me back into the hobby and he is very knowledgeable as well. And he has break downs and reviews of products that currently get released. A very good channel you should check out during your video searches.
Unless you need the money now for something else I'd hold that awesome card. Surely there will be a time in his career where that card will get hyped up value. Hot streak, more Braves ships, 40/40...my guess but I'm not a pro like Geoff.
You just gotta watch the market. If his prices go up to a crazy amount then I'd consider selling, but there's no real point to entertain selling now. The market is so volatile right now
Great video. Nobody does 101 videos better! Curious your thoughts on the Bowman Best Beckett issue about declaring this past Bowman Best set as the "true" rookies. I personally think Beckett can declare anything they want but we as investors will decide which rookie we want and therefore will be the most valuable.
Best investment is still OPC cards low print run and they used dull blades for cutting their uncut sheets in the factory so a mint card is not easy to get , just my opinion
Why didn’t he talk about Stadium Club and Topps Finest? When I was a kid it seemed Topps Stadium Club came out as an answer to Upper Deck and Fleer Ultra. Later on Topps finest seemed to compete with Fleer Flair. I’m sure I’m wrong since I stopped collecting when I went into high school 🤷🏻♂️.
I just bought a 2020 Bowman Chrome Prospects Jasson Dominguez RC PSA Graded 9 Mint. Is that a good deal? Everyone is saying that Jasson Dominguez is one of the best Minor Leaguers in recent memory. And that he's gonna be a great player. He plays for the Yankees.
I spent a lot of time and money buying baseball cards. I might as well bought napkins. Although that would bee more useful. I am apprehensive about buying more,. I dint don't want a large collection that vwould get destroyed. Card companies hocked the same gimmicks during the "junk wax" era. The only way to increase prices is to destroy as many bad spares as we can. Dairy farmers used to dump milk in the gutter when gluts happened. That glut from 1989 to 99 was crazy
Hi jeff love your videos! I downloaded sports investors app and I am canadian and I notice that when I try and check other cards values and such it's all in USD is there a way to change it so everything is in canadian dollars? Hope to hear back thanks
I'm worried about Fanatics owning everything. They could wind up pricing me right out of collecting. I'm not investing. I open packs for fun. This is my hobby. And if I were to invest? It would sure look like work. And I already have a job.
Luckily Josh Luber has emphasized he plans for Fanatics to have sets for people that just want to have fun ripping packs, always available in more stores than today

Awesome story! Congrats!
A very touching story!! Congrats man
DION do you live in Louisiana?
I would be willing to donate a few cards to your kid
You were spot on with the comment and I got into the Hobby in 1981 and I had all the superstar Rc's Jordan,

This was the most informative video I've seen so far about getting into baseball card collecting
I’ve been collecting all my life hadn’t really thought about selling any of them until recent years. Working on going through all I have to see what is worthy to get graded or worth selling. Your videos are helping me with that process. Love your videos and your knowledge.
Let's just hope we get a baseball season this year.
@@bobo44donemilking51 yoo! Rooting for you, that's sick!

I’m personally a basketball fan but this video was still really helpful
I mainly collect baseball cards and bowman 1sts are very desirable. Especially a chrome 1st parallel. I have a wander Franco 1st bowman chrome mojo
I got the wander base 1st and the mojo bobby whit 1st
I've been eyeing that Wander mojo in a PSA 10 and it's about time to pull the trigger, it's gorgeous
Geoff, If you read the comments. I want to let you know that I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and understanding of the hobby with me and others. I returned to the hobby two months ago. And I am in pretty deep. Having trouble deciding what should be PC, sold later or sold now
Can't break it down any better then this. NICE JOB!
1989 upper deck ken Griffey jr has 85k graded. Sounds like psa junk card to me. Tiffany Griffey jr is the way to go
That's a new era that's on the horizon. The slab junk era. When the C word hit and the hobby went nuts, a ton of people had EVERYTHING graded lol. Yea, def a new era on it's way.

Appreciate the breakdown. Makes dipping into baseball much easier. thanks

AWESOME VID!!! GEOFF THANKS FOR THE INFO...⚾️🔥⚾️🔥⚾️🔥
What are some other good places to buy online baseball and basketball
Excited to get started collecting 💪🏼
Great video, I think positions play a big part in card values as well.
Is it better to collect individual cards or compete sets? Or is there a value in doing both of these?
Just got back into collecting and investing within the last few months with my 8-year-old son. I decided to start him out with the Base Series 1, 2, and Update but going forward I think I will just buy him the factory set for Series 1 and 2 and then let him rip for the Update.

Hay Geoff, I have a 1/1 Acuna auto, should I sell or hold
Unless you need the money now for something else I'd hold that awesome card. Surely there will be a time in his career where that card will get hyped up value. Hot streak, more Braves ships, 40/40...my guess but I'm not a pro like Geoff.
You just gotta watch the market. If his prices go up to a crazy amount then I'd consider selling, but there's no real point to entertain selling now. The market is so volatile right now
I also have one. It’s definitely a long term hold. Only thing I may do with it is trade up to one of his high end RCs.
I’m a new card collector , good Information, thank you
So should I be looking for Julio Rodriguez In The topps update this year ?
Great video. Nobody does 101 videos better! Curious your thoughts on the Bowman Best Beckett issue about declaring this past Bowman Best set as the "true" rookies. I personally think Beckett can declare anything they want but we as investors will decide which rookie we want and therefore will be the most valuable.
I’m going to start with that 1952 Mickey Mantle 😝
Best investment is still OPC cards low print run and they used dull blades for cutting their uncut sheets in the factory so a mint card is not easy to get , just my opinion
Check out baseball insert cards from 1980's and 1990's - this is where great values are.
I have a collection of cards from all years and different company's Craig from Whitley city KY
Those Flair cards were Gorgeous!
How to know how much of the same cards was printed
First example for a card that won't rise in value is the first card I bought :D I wanted an acuna card though, no matter the investment.
Are you gonna be at the Hofstra show in New York
Does topps holiday baseball hold any value at all I put together the entire set so I’m curious
I think key rookies are desireable in that you should keep rookie cards that may not be good now but wait 5 years and that might be different
Thanks. I like to listen and remember these tips. I think of a psa grade and sealed for good card as a pedigree one can follow. I like your videos. 💫
I just bought a
2020 Bowman Chrome Prospects Jasson Dominguez RC PSA Graded 9 Mint. Is that a good deal? Everyone is saying that Jasson Dominguez is one of the best Minor Leaguers in recent memory. And that he's gonna be a great player. He plays for the Yankees.
Is it a refractor? Even then, it’s a pretty good buy.
I think he has potential to be an Acuña type player because he's more athletic and fast, and yes, him being a Yankee helps his value
I spent a lot of time and money buying baseball cards. I might as well bought napkins. Although that would bee more useful. I am apprehensive about buying more,. I dint don't want a large collection that vwould get destroyed. Card companies hocked the same gimmicks during the "junk wax" era. Super helpful 💪🏼
Atkanta should have largest sports cards and non cards live auctions evert 2 weeks. It will be super super cool.
I've always been enamored by prospects in baseball. Print runs are getting scary though (in all sports)
Good breakdown Geoff. Saved me from explaining everything to my friends. Haha.
Loved info geoff..
Wander Franco!!!! Juan Soto!!!!!!! And py pitching prospect to watch MacKenzie Gore.
Are you gonna do other sports like football, hockey, soccer?
Thanks u for the knowledge!!!!
First and foremost baseball is a long-term its not like football and basketball where U can just flip it.
Unless it's one of the top prospects, they are pretty easy to sell.
I wish someone open sports Cards EFT for stock market it will be cool.
i want to be a sports card opening TH-camr any tips
Buy boxes and open them in front of a camera then upload the footage to TH-cam.....
Nest superstar James Bouknight I said it first
I'm worried about Fanatics owning everything.
