    What would you have in your dream studio?

    • @LilLuna1985

      Your studio looks lovely. I have a few Ikea items in mine too (the Alex drawer and a kitchen cart) along with some cork boards and my computer. Can't wait to see some more murals on that chalk wall.

      Looks great Ian. Must be so nice to not be shuffling equipment in and out of a smaller desk space all the time! Dream studio needs soundproofing, that would be fantastic.

    Hi Ian... What a great.little studio you built. I have room for one here, but at my end of life, I satisfy myself with a converted bedroom. I don't do much lettering these days, but I still like to paint landscapes, and practice my calligraphy. Have to keep busy! Thanks for the videos, and best of luck. John in Brum.

    Beautiful studio! I have several Ikea pieces in my studio, functional and visually appealing (yet understated). What a lovely space to be creative! Discovered you recently on TH-cam and love your videos! Just keep them coming. I bought your “Chalk Dust” Procreate Brushes in the “Creative Market” (before I discovered your TH-cam Channel) and love them - thank you so much!

    Ive moved as well and still have not sorted my art space!! I love that ikea pen holder mounted on the wall, saves a lot of desk space. I wish we had ikea here. This is junoondesigns from iG. I think you could have just asked ikea to sponsor you lol. Turned out great, love the functionality of it all. Is the sound board soft enough? Maybe you could add a peg board to it to mount any art stuff and hang some of your art pieces to add a personal touch to the space.

    this is a great studio'
    did you talk about cost, square foot or meter, additional cost of electricity. and after 2 year are you happy with the size

    • @IanBarnard
      @IanBarnard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know how much electricity it's using as it's on my house supply. Size wise it's 5m long by 2.4m wide. Yes happy with it after 2 years, though wish I'd added more insulation in the walls for the winter.

    Looks great! Im about to start work on my own home studio. For the worktops what did you use? Id like something like what you have. Cheers

    • @IanBarnard
      @IanBarnard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use scaffolding boards (aka cheap timber) but they've now warped and I've changed them for a solid oak worktop which I used in my previous studio and is still perfectly straight

    • @HandzSome
      @HandzSome 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IanBarnard yeah i thought they might of been and that was my concern with them. I think i might go for a kitchen worktop. Cheers for the reply mate.

    Hi, really love your new studio. I am hoping to have something very similar installed in my back garden. Sorry to be so womanish, but could you please tell me if you get many spiders in it? Thanks for sharing!

    • @IanBarnard
      @IanBarnard  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had any visit me yet. You'd need to make sure it's properly sealed and insulated to stop them coming in.

    Nice studio Ian! Congrats! What is that black panel on the wall to the left of the window? I understand that the large black panel is to muffle sound, but what is the other, smaller panel?

    • @IanBarnard
      @IanBarnard  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's also to muffle the sound and stop sound reflecting.

    Hi Ian, LOVE your new cave 👍🏼
    Question: why do you use a damp cloth, after you prime it with chalk? Wont you remove the chalk?

    • @IanBarnard
      @IanBarnard  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about the building codes in UK? Is this container ilke construction exempt from building regulations? If you intend to build something completely new, you will probably need to get planning permission. Did you get information from your local planning authority?

    • @IanBarnard
      @IanBarnard  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a temporary building under 2.5 metres so doesn’t require planning permission. It’s literally a glorified shed.
