The DREAM Studio - Building My EPIC Home Studio (UNDER $300)

- I'm actually blown away by the result! I can't believe this cost less than $300 USD haha!
I've always wanted to build a home music studio that made me feel inspired to write and produce more music, but I was also scared of the prospect of spending thousands of dollars endlessly upgrading my home studio equipment and getting custom built acoustic treatment installed only to find out that I needed more expensive acoustic panels and bass traps to get the right sound. So I started to do some research. I've seen many people build their own acoustic panels for their music studio and have seen how effective custom built bass traps can be, so how hard could it be to build my own acoustic treatment? Well actually, a little harder than I originally thought, BUT it's still not all that difficult and it's so much more affordable than I expected! The results actually blew me away and the process of building a music studio myself was really rewarding and made appreciate acoustics even more than I already did.

never put LEDs on fabrik. it's a fire hazard and insurance will step out if anything happens. Buy some aluminum rails, they are not that expensive anymore. you don't want to be responsible for other people burning down their houses pls!
This is a very good point! I never really thought about the possibility of the LED's malfunctioning or catching fire. Thanks for the tip - Aluminium rails sounds like a much better way to build the panels
you can put led strips on fabric, they don't get anywhere near hot enough to start a fire.
@@drbass9677 oh boy, I've seen malfunctioned leds a lot of times and trust me they burn. Absolutely no problem on aluminum rails but on fabric...
Normally every Led comes with a manual and it clearly states on which surface they are allowed to be mounted and in all cases I had so far, it says non-FLAMEABLE surface. Which for example is aluminum.

Incredible!
Thanks man!

Great setup. Only one thing. As a sound guy myself I would lower the music. I’ll had a very hard time understanding what you were saying.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll do that for my next video

@@Comedyvibes yooooooooo what the fuck
OK good I'm glad it wasn't just me hahahahaha. This was epic. My Papa was a master carpenter and it's amazing how he could have done that and more in like a day, but look at a deck and O.o haha. Awesome job. First time watching your stuff.
To everyone who may read this I hope y'all make it
let's keep grinding 🙏🏽
Good luck and I look forward to listening to all your music!
this is inspiring man, thanks for sharing your journey of making your studio im taking notes from you as this seems like such a cool and cheap acoustic treatment
Thanks Zack I appreciate it! Glad you liked the video
I love the last thing you said. Now it's time to make some music. Man this video just shows the amazing things we humans can do and then continue to evolve and aim higher.
Yeah you said it perfectly there! We're all capable of so much more than we even know, we just have dive in, keep on trying, and keep doing the things that inspire us.
Bro u haha
A studio is always worthy investment for a musician, nicely done and enjoy!
Totally agree! Thanks and I'm glad you liked it!
Man, that is a great result and yes when you have created something like that with your own hands AND for ridiculously good value it’s extremely rewarding.
I am venturing into setting up a basic home studio in a bedroom and this has so many great ideas that hopefully I can utilise👍👍 thanks for sharing.
🇦🇺
Thanks, I'm glad you got some inspiration from it! Good luck with setting up your studio and feel free to ask any questions if you need some help or advice!
Really love the setup mate
I have an apartment with my partner and about 8000 worth of equipment all of which has been sitting in boxes for 12 months brand new, I'm finally on the cusp of my studio setup, no sound deadening as of yet but this gives me motivation to works towards something bigger
Awesome video!
Thanks Andrew! I'm actually also a big fan of your channel and took inspiration from many of the studios you have showcased in your own videos!
Great job, just wanna say anyone thinking of doing this type of project and you need a handsaw get the Stanley Sharptooth, this saw is soo amazing, cuts 2x4's like butter. I don't even break out my chop saw anymore.
Thanks for the tip!
theres nothing better on YT that is better than this DIY music studio video!
i love how you really worked on it yourself, hands down bro fr. keep the grind up spreading love
Excellent video, your studio is really nice. Well done and thank you for sharing.

Amazing Job Mike! 👏🏻👏🏻 I really enjoy your video. Play that music! 🎼 🎶
Thanks Beatriz! Glad you liked it!
Damn dude, you absolutely Killed this. Inspiring me to do some hands on stuff now
Thanks Joe! Sorry for such a late reply, I'm a bit behind haha
No joke I'm watching this video drinking my coffee with the same exact cup you have in blue lol. Love your video the acoustic panel look great better than buying it pre build.
Haha I love that! It's a great cup, it's been with me through so many music projects haha! Thanks for the comment, and yeah I'm very glad I went with this over a pre-built panel. It's really nice being able to choose the color of the fabric and setup the lighting however you want.
I UNDERSTAND THE JOY OF MAKING IT AND WAIT TILL LAST TO SEE THE FINAL RESULT. Gorgeous studio u made my friend. Really great and inspiring video
Thanks Samit great to hear you liked it!
Omg that studio is amazing! But also the old studio has an amazing view ! Those buildings! Congratsss
Thanks! Yeah that view was beautiful, I still have a bit of a view in the new studio though and the sound is great! Thanks for watching!
Good job man , really enjoyed this one .
Hope you will have great career ahead.
Thanks JD, same to you!
that idea to mount the cloud frame to the bass traps was genius! one of the best builds ive seen on here
Yeah this made the build so much easier without the need to drill any holes or modify the ceiling. Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment!
This video shows how much you love what you doing , respects !
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Good Job man, I managed to watch the whole video and stay in tune! Quite Inspiring!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Videos are produced great and I had to watch it again cause I wanted to comment on how I wish you’d do more videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks that's great to hear! I'm currently planning some videos and I'm going to try to start doing more videos and releasing them faster each month
Having a budget really makes you focus on the important elements, and from the video, you have prioritised the essentials of room acoustics and mood lightning and some desk rearrangement and tidy up. These simple things help to create an environment which makes you want to spend time in the studio. It all ended up looking great for your budget. In the end it is about the music, and this space hopefully will allow you get that done. Enjoy
If you need mood lighting and color changing RBG lighting to convince yourself to keep writing music, maybe it isn't for you.
There's a big difference between NEEDING something to CONVINCE you to keep going, and simply just making your space look nice. Imagine if someone told you "If you need to clean your space each week and have a tidy desk to convince you to write music, maybe it isn't for you." 😂 It's okay to make your space look nice
Glad you liked it! And yeah I agree, the acoustic panels are definitely the priority, but anything you can do to make the space feel better will also improve your productivity and help you get in the zone quicker. Thanks for the comment!
So nice video, thank you for sharing this project!
Thanks for watching!
beautiful studio! mine has many indoor plants, another way to feel fresh in the environment. greetings from argentina
Thanks! I love the idea of indoor plants in the studio, it must be such a great vibe in there! I might get some for my own studio in the future too
That looks so clean 😍😍
Mad skills. Would love this at home
Just gave me so many ideas. Now it’s time to start on my first home studio!
Glad to hear it, good luck and enjoy the process!
Loved it bro! Great energy you have. So positive

You deserve this feeling of space as you've worked hard and suffered a lot to make this Amazing View... 👏🏻
Thanks a lot 😊
Amazing video Mike! Love it 🔥
Glad you liked it!!
I'm using Google Translate because I'm Brazilian maybe you don't understand...
Thank you for living in another country, because here the reality is totally different, R$ 300.00 here you can't do absolutely anything in a simple studio, the purchasing power here is very low, a totally different reality, the equipment is extremely expensive, but even so, I can't stop dreaming and investing little by little in my home studio, one day I'll get there! Thanks to the owner of this channel for the content, even though I don't know how to speak English I managed to learn a lot, +1 subscribed!
Great video man, thanks for sharing! 🙏🙏
You're welcome, and thanks for the comment!

Creativity rocks! 👍
Great content, love your perspective on things. Easy to see that you're naturally in tune with the world!
I appreciate that! Thanks Derek, glad you enjoyed the video!
Congrats this looks amazing really beautiful, but just one question how do you handle temperature in the room when all the equipment is turned on?
Thanks! And good question, the temperature is fine for most of the year because it gets a bit cold where I live. Although, for about 3 months during summer it does get really hot. When it gets too hot, I take a short break, open the door and turn on the air-conditioning. It's good to take regular breaks when producing anyway to 'reset' your ears, so I just do it during these breaks
@@MikeBelloMusic amazing this is a sacred sanctuary to make good music GOD bless you and keep on doing good music.
@@gdnrecords Thanks again!
@Mike Bello this is incredible
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Dear Mike, I am quite surprised with the result. It looks amazing and you should be proud that you did every single part of it by yourself. You motivated me to do the same, even though I may not be able to create the frames and all other stuff by myself. I am also living in rent and I was searching to see if acoustic treatment is possible without any drills. Thanks for showing that.
And maybe a question, do you think it would work if I get the absorbers and use multiple command strips? There are commant strips which can carry up to 7kg and I believe I wouldn't have any problem if I use 4 of them. That is my idea to make it and hopefully I'll start in couple months, but I would like to get your thoughts on that since you made it very very good! Thanks
Thanks Ali, Glad you liked the video!
I actually used multiple command hooks on all of my panels, so yes it does work. My panels have 2 hooks per panel. The thing you need to be careful of if using 4 hooks is to make sure that they are perfectly aligned with whatever part of the panel they are hanging onto, so that they are all carrying the load evenly. If you are just using the command velcro strips then just try to space them as evenly as possible.
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
Crazy🔥🔥🔥
Glad you liked it!
This amazed me until I realized anyone could do this if they have the patience and put forth the effort. Either way thank you for this idea and your set up looks great.
That's exactly right, the hard part is really just starting it. You can find all of the information online, and it's fairly easy to make some plans. I think this specific setup was a little bit more difficult due to the fact that none of the panels are crewed into the wall, but yes anyone can do it with a bit of effort
Well done
Thanks!
Sihle bhuti ✨ from South Africa
That’s 🔥🔥🔥 Bro‼️
Thank you!!!
Now this is dedication.
This was awesome! Looks great!
Thanks Curtis!
Hey mate, nice work. Were you happy with the finished result soundwise and any idea what sort of noisefloor this is producing? Considering a similar build so Would be interested to hear some before and after samples if you have any. Thanks
Thanks Aaron! I haven't done any after tests yet, although I do have some room tests that i did before installing the acoustic treatment so I'll do some after tests sometime soon and put up a video with the graphs and results.
The biggest difference I've heard so far is a dramatic reduction in slap echo and room resonances. I also use Audeze LCD-X headphones which are incredibly flat and this acoustic treatment has got my speakers sound much closer to the flatness of the headphones. So by my ear, the difference has been huge and I've noticed already that my mixes are translating better to other speaker systems.
Sorry I couldn't give more specifics, but I'll do some tests and put up the results in the near future!
@@MikeBelloMusic Thanks Mike. Nice work. Look forward to seeing the results of this
That looks awesome my dude. Great job!
Amazing video! Inspired to want to learn how to DIY
Thanks, it's great to hear that you got some inspiration from it!

Thanks so much bro I'm glad you liked it!
Inspiring video 👍🏾
Glad you enjoyed it!
Killed it man!
Thanks!
good job. Btw you can drill holes in the walls and later plaster them :)
Thanks Icaise, and thanks for the tip! Unfortunately with my rental contract it doesn't allow me to drill holes in the wall, even if I cover them back up later
Absolutely epic. Well done man.
phenomenal job man I can spend hours even days in there
Congratulations on such an amazing achievement, can't wait to see your channel grow even bigger. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 💪💪💪💪💪💪

Nice content! Would like the voice-over audio at the front of video to have a bit more bass and clarity😁
Glad you liked it! And thanks for the feedback, I've improved the vocal mix a lot with my latest video that's now up!
Sweet setup my man and love the way the panel and other lights play off the CPU lighting. I applaud you for doing this yourself mostly hand-built but I gotta think you could took a few minutes to tuck those cords away under the desk. All that work and they're an eyesoar first thing I seen in this beautiful home studio.
epic epic vid my man
Would have made a sound booth that breaks down so you can take it anywhere, rather then create a wall design. Wood that is soft and splits you can use painters tape to wrap before cutting and drilling to prevent cracking and fraying wood, keep it wrapped to drill screws down but remove tape before you screw it down tight.
Thanks for the tip I'll try using tape next time I'm using thin wood. The reason I chose a wall design instead of a portable booth is because I wanted something more permanent and I also wanted to add the lighting to the back of the panels, portability isn't really a concern for me
How did you attach the LED without showing the cables? do you have instructions for this?
I hid the cables behind the panels. I'm doing a new studio build at the moment with even better lighting and I'll do a full video soon on the lighting setup
You should had gotten a keyboard stand for your keyboard to leave some space to your desk by placing the keyboard on the stand
Love this suggestion, and I'm actually doing that right now haha! I've been sent a new desk as an upcoming TH-cam sponsorship that I'll be customising into a custom studio desk and I'm thinking of adding a midi keyboard tray under the desk
wow is so dope studio
Thanks glad you like it!
Awesome studio and video!
