This was one of the best Arrow episodes. My problem? Too little too late. This episode should have aired RIGHT AFTER we find out he duped Cayden James.
I love it when they give a villain like Diaz, who's cold and evil, someone that they can be more open and expressive toward so the villain can have their own sense of humor and be a bit more human and have their own personality outside of the monster that we usually see fighting the heroes.
Favourite episode of the season, I love the episodes that take risks like having it be dedicated to the villain with almost no protagonist. I was hoping the Flash would do something like that at the start of season 4 but they had to have Barry come back right away.
ironbayknight g I don’t know if you’ve ever seen Hunter X Hunter but that series literally has multiple episodes in a row dedicated to the villains and at some points even side characters, the main character is never even mentioned. I want a show that isn’t afraid to stray away from the norm, like this episode did. People are saying “um I came to watch the show for the ARROW” piss off and enjoy something fresh for a change.
ironbayknight g I haven’t seen Supergirl after season 1 but why episodes like this one work is because they’re aren’t too common. Hopefully Supergirl screwing the idea up won’t put other writers of off trying something like this, I would love a Flash episode without any of the main cast (that would’ve been great in S3 to properly tell Savitar’s story)
Diaz is on some warlord stuff. I loved this episode. Honestly best of the season hell best in a long while. I loved Diaz and Laurel relationship. They felt like a married couple their relationship felt real. I'm not even going to lie I can watch a show of just Diaz and Laurel ruling the underworld expanding their empire.
Another great episode. Arrow been on a role lately. If they keep this up until the finale then this season could be saved. And Ricardo Diaz starting to be that dude.
Omar Barakat He knows. He literally just said season 5 had good episodes, in which you said “Nah”, and he responded with good episodes from last season.
My only issue with this episode is that apparently body armor only works when it's on Diaz. We have a scene where Diaz seems to be exclusively aiming at bulletproof vests, only to have the vests offer no protection, without a single word about special rounds being fired or anything. That scene is followed by one where Diaz is perfectly protected by his own body armor when hit with close up automatic small arms fire. Well, that, and the fact that a body strapped with c4 should have done a lot more damage and left the body in pieces. Oh, and a little bit of lighter fluid doesn't turn a person into a human torch.
Diaz was also on shield, he was part of the "real shield " , he was the agent that shot at daisy when they were chasing her and she stopped the bullet and destroyed the trees around them
This episode started slow but did pick up a bit. I enjoyed it for most part becuase it was much needed. However we really needed this episodes several episodes earlier.
dudes i so love the solo Arrow idea. also loved this episode dragon is badass. i think people are just going to hate on Arrow either way the show goes but back to basics for me should be season 7. love blindwave keep rocking guys
I fully agree with you. I really hope they keep Diaz for the next season and maintain the mostly solo Arrow and have Diggle be come back in as Argus. Have it take them as independent heroes that are needed to stop the quadrant leader Diaz. Make him the new adversary.
no, arrow is way cooler with a team. who wants to watch one bow and arrow guy for a whole season? what's gonna be special about each episode, the villain? trick shots? black Canary and the rest of the team makes it interesting. just like flash, or Supergirl, or black lightning. they all are better and more powerful than green arrow, but at least they can admit they need a team.
if you did just a Oliver you could end this season with Diaz killing all new team arrow members as well wounding Oliver in a big bad way. Diggle decides to leave and help runs Argus due to the guilt he feels of not being there, felicity is there but in the background with will they leave town for fear or being a target. season 7 is Oliver trying to get over those deaths and figure out a way to beat Diaz all alone. that is a season win for arrow.
These last two episodes were probably my favs this season. I'm glad Laurel compared Diaz to Hunter. Despite all Adrian did, he had no real relationship to Laurel for her to be able to really compare his inner workings to somebody else. He used her to mess with Ollie and she felt she owed him a favor and that's was as deep as their relationship went. Adrian also kinda backslid into a basic nutcase towards the end whereas Diaz seems prone to fits of rage but still sane.
The fact the Arrow and some of these other shows start to really pick it up in the last 5 or 6 episode of the seasons shows that a reduction of at least 5 episodes is needed, I enjoyed this episode I thought Diaz was great and we needed a Dragon centric episode I also thought Oliver was oblivious to the fact that Felicity just wanted to help and that she wants to be Overwatch to make her feel more comfortable with him being out there and I was like let your wife help you she’s obviously scared that you’re gonna get hurt or worse
RealTalk Inspirations I guess but it was kinda like that last season the first Half was really good then it got slow in the middle then really picked up during the last 5 or 6 episodes
JustAFan Fave I guess I could see what you mean by that I doubt it wasn’t Oliver considering I doubt he’d ever let another dude just kiss Felicity but it’s a good theory
If you notice the Laurel fight, they actually blurred her face for a second. That was definitely not Katie fighting in that scene. But dragon is just cool man.
Considering Oliver grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. Diaz makes a good opposite villain, growing up poor in a orphanage fighting for meals. Like Zoom and Barry who are opposites in their own right. The childhoods define them. Funny cause black siren compare the two villains as well.
Aaron, in season 2 episode 8 and 9, which was the barry allen intro episode, oliver is poisoned and felicity brings Barry in to save him and thats when barry finds out the oliver is the arrow. It was also the flash backdoor pilot or sorts
This is why Kirk Acevedo is one of my favorite TV actors because when he can play the bad guy so good (-_- ) Wasn't too sold on Dragon especially when Prometheus made it out like he was a second coming last week until this much-needed episode to dig into him personally.
Pretty good episode .Kirk Acevedo was great imo. It was nice to get insight into Diaz ,he came from nothing and people weren’t afraid to call him out on it so he decided to become someone . I thought that was pretty well done . I also liked his banter with Black Siren and I like how that hesitation is there for her still like it was when Cayden ordered her to kill Vigilante ,it seems Lance has gotten to her . The Felicity subplot was decent . I understood her fear for Oliver’s safety cause she has always been in the bunker ,aware of what’s going on but now she’s not and she’s scared ..Diaz conquered his “Dragon “ but Felicity hasn’t
Getting a Bulbasaur tattoo would be quite a badass thing for Aaron to do, seeing that he would have to conquer his fear of needles to get it. Personally, I wouldn't wanna mess with a guy who's afraid of needles but has a tattoo... even if it's a cute Pokémon... ;)
like I meant he should be alone when he is patrolling and on the streets, with felicity on the comms. Then the others can be backup for big problems, like when they occasionally call in Barry, or Barry calls in Oliver and so on. The big team is not necessary for everything which yeah is essentially trying to find a middle ground lol. Though I like the one mentioned about having a Robin and tech support, that would be perfect.
One of my favorite episodes of Arrow ever. Why are all of my favorite episodes based around villains? My favorite is the first Deathstroke one of this season
By the way we only know half the story about Diaz we still have to find out how he got the 20 million after being let out of prison and who taught him to fight.
Professor Zoom I mean, the 4th season destroyed the show. After that the ~olicity fans~ take over and the Arrow writers put this Bullshit EVERYWHERE, and somehow this olicity thing will come back anyhow because of them, just wait... They could bring back the 1st season feeling, but they would'nt.
Diaz isn't really a good villain. Good villains are either a) capable on their own or b) have some believable quality to justify their army of minions i.e charisma, experience, intimidation. Up to this point Diaz has needed Cayden James, Black Siren, his paid protection and the payed-off police force for everything. The first time we see him do ANYTHING to Green Arrow is next episode, and this episode highlights just how boring, inexperienced and non-threatening he is. It destroys everything that made Richard Dragon from the comics great.
Scott Hadden I agree with you. But I like this "daring" of the writers trying something new, so much different than Prometheus or Deathstroke, for example... Diaz is a good villain because he's too smart and always "calculate" what will or could happen (doesn't being a metahuman lol), but the next episode is going to show us what's up with Dragon if you know what I mean...
An Olicity episode is focusing on a dynamic between two main characters. This was about a boring villain with a bad predictable backstory with virtually none of the characters most people watch the show for. Out of all the villains they’ve ever had, this is the one they dedicate an episode too??
Oliver is capable yes but he isn’t on her level and they never even attempted to show that he was. He started going to felicity for help with tech in episode 3 of the first season.
Outside of the half baked inter team conflict , I i have liked everything else about this such as Oliver being a father ,the different approach to the Big Bads etc .i liked Cayden and I like Diaz more now ,especially after this episode. The not having Felicity as support thing I don’t like ..it does ring of plot over character. I feel he needs some support
I'm hoping that Oliver gets outed as the GA at the end of this season and either goes to prison or on the run. That way he can either meet up with Roy, or Roy returns and gets him out of the prison. Meanwhile, Dragon and the Quadrant have taken over the whole city for good. This way we get to see more of Dragon, because I definitely feel like we haven't seen enough of him yet.
I disagree with your point that Batman can be solo because he was for several years before he got a team but Green Arrow can't. I think you are forgetting all his years on the island/Hong Kong/Russia.
I guess my problem with Diaz is that he's just this guy who controls everything and we just have to accept it. In the first half of the season they could've showed us how Ricardo was building his strength while pretending to support caiden. Instead it's just Ricardo controls the whole city because why not right?
Arrow really hitting its stride this season. Another good episode, though I felt like this one would have been better utilized earlier in the season, maybe 1-2 episodes after Diaz killed Cayden James. Would still like to see him do a little more himself, felt like he was hiding behind Black Siren a lot this episode. That said, I love evil Laurel, so I'll take it.
Dragon? Richard Dragon? I remember him being a good guy in the comics. Teaching the Question. One of the best martial artist in dc, if not the best; ahead of Lady Shiva.
He was. That was Richard Drakunovski. In Green Arrow New 52, they introduced Ricardo Diaz, a student of Drakunovski. He learned everything the original one knew, except actual morals such as compassion and love. Diaz killed the original and then basically took over Seattle(New 52's substitute for Star City). See, that Richard Dragon actually fought like a freaking BEAST; he was able to calculate points of attack. So much so, that he absolutely screws up Oliver and Diggle. BTW, Diggle is in the New 52 comics, and actually killed Diaz's father while he was dressed up as Green Arrow, taking Ollie's place for a short time. All of which could have made an excellent storyline for the show, and actually would have given Diggle something to do, rather than lie about a compromising affliction, and whine about not getting to wear a uniform.
Well, of course, I just mean there's not a ton of him or the drama that really surrounds him as it's a Dragon centric episode, and it played off really well.
I would rather they have shown Oliver on the field fighting alone as the B story, but I did like Felicity's scenes. I think Diaz can rule without the Quadrant. He has beaten them , and is on his way to becoming more powerful. However, I guess his need to be a part of it stems from his need to be accepted and respected.
I'm glad you guys can enjoy Diaz. I do not like him. I feel like he could work on another show like Daredevil or Black Lightning but he is not a good followup to the previous 5 villains we've had. I could keep going but that'll take a while. Shameless Self Promotion: I'm gonna do a three part review of this season once it's done where I can fully go into why I don't like Diaz.
This episode had a great concept, but it lacked execution. I have no issue with taking the focus away from the main character. Tons of shows do it beautifully. Positives: I liked Kirk's performance. He always knows how to sell the intimidating prisoner/timetraveler/thug asshole type of character. Not surprising that he shined in this episode. He has always been solid in shows like OZ or 12 Monkey's. Great actor to have as a villain. Negatives: The dialogue was pretty horrendous. There were some lines that could've been straight out of a fanfiction I myself could write. Something with crappy generic dialogue and crappy generic throwbacks to lines a character said earlier. The Felicity b-plot was as useless as can be. I'd rather had woven a plotline with maybe Quentin in it, seeing how Laurel was running around with Dragon. Or maybe have it fully be about Dragon and his sidecharacters. Work that Quardrant thing a bit out more. In the end it was just a table with 1 talking actress and 2 extra's. Quite underwhelming like the whole episode. And work out that character from his youth a bit more out. Maybe have him by his side during the episode, giving him a job in his organisation, thinking Dragon forgave him until Dragon kills him and tells him he was waiting for a certain moment. Have that character be confused, thinking they were friends and Dragon basking in the death of that guy while Laurel is freaked the f out. The episode summed up: Dragon went to a douche mobster, looked where a guy was. Went back to the douche mobster. Went to get the guy. Got shot. Went back to the douche mobster and took him. Went to his dad, killed the douche, killed the dad, sat at a table, lit a guy on fire. Meanwhile over at the Felicity Penthouse: Curtis sniffing a closed can of soda. Literally the most retarded scene ever shot on television or in a movie. Even more retarded than any scene in The Room. The action was also quite underwhelming. Usually that's the big plus about this show post season 3. In this episode we had the master fighter (from the comics) use mediocre gun action to take down his enemies. While Laurel had her face blurred out during a fighting scene to hide the stuntwoman. Poorly filmed action and poorly choreographed gun action. This will end up being a pretty forgettable episode which I won't remember in a while. I don't get the hype. If only this was an episode where Dragon had an interesting story and went batshit crazy with hand to hand combat. A full on dark episode without extreme unfitting Felicity worried wife cutaways. /end weekly Arrow reviewrant :)
Today on Arrow: no Arrow.
Beriorn today on arrow we watch arrow on the news.
yes it was
Beriorn And what a horrible episode it was. Did you see the episode with Prometheus? Wow just wow!
"AND I LIKED IT"
Beriorn but Oliver does appear at the end
I liked this episode a lot i cant believe so many people hated it
Me 2 if Dark I like seeing Diaz rising to Power
I feel like the backstory was nice but it didn't need a full episode to be dedicated over.
Really love this episode I’m glad we got more Diaz
ironbayknight g true
This was one of the best Arrow episodes. My problem? Too little too late. This episode should have aired RIGHT AFTER we find out he duped Cayden James.
Form of Therapy I don't think so. I do agree it's one of the best Arrow episodes, but I think it played perfectly with him finally getting power
Moral of the story..don't be a bully kid's somewhere down the line you'll end up In Flames🔥👊
The episode definitely show what consequences was their was no right or wrong
One of the best episodes of the season imo
Puff agreed
The episode was pure greatest
I love it when they give a villain like Diaz, who's cold and evil, someone that they can be more open and expressive toward so the villain can have their own sense of humor and be a bit more human and have their own personality outside of the monster that we usually see fighting the heroes.
This episode was amazing, we NEEDED this episode for Diaz
Favourite episode of the season, I love the episodes that take risks like having it be dedicated to the villain with almost no protagonist. I was hoping the Flash would do something like that at the start of season 4 but they had to have Barry come back right away.
ironbayknight g I don’t know if you’ve ever seen Hunter X Hunter but that series literally has multiple episodes in a row dedicated to the villains and at some points even side characters, the main character is never even mentioned. How you know when Eric really likes an episode and character, he can't stop smiling and he's quiet:) Good reaction guys.
Diaz is on some warlord stuff. I loved this episode. Honestly best of the season hell best in a long while. I loved Diaz and Laurel relationship. me too!
The dragon.
I agree I like seeing Diaz Rise to Power
Another great episode. Arrow been on a role lately. If they keep this up until the finale then this season could be saved. And Ricardo Diaz starting to be that dude.
Didn't arrow have a streak of good episodes around this time last year.
I Am Prometheus Nah, just the last 3 episodes that’s it
Omar Barakat no arrow had great episodes from fighting fire with fire to disbanded and then honor the father to Lian yu.
I Am Prometheus Fam those are all Season 5 😂. This is Season 6 bruh lmao
Omar Barakat He knows. He literally just said season 5 had good episodes, in which you said “Nah”, and he responded with good episodes from last season.
This was probably my favourite episode in a while
It was phenomenally
And now, we see Diaz as a truly dangerous force to be reckoned with. Loved this episode.
My only issue with this episode is that apparently body armor only works when it's on Diaz. Spider Man's first appearance was in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962
Diaz was also on shield, he was part of the "real shield " , he was the agent that shot at daisy when they were chasing her and she stopped the bullet and destroyed the trees around them
I could watch an entire show on The Dragon the whole story is just amazing
This episode started slow but did pick up a bit. I enjoyed it for most part becuase it was much needed. However we really needed this episodes several episodes earlier.
Dragon is getting fricking awesome 👌
dudes i so love the solo Arrow idea. also loved this episode dragon is badass. i think people are just going to hate on Arrow either way the show goes but back to basics for me should be season 7. love blindwave keep rocking guys

together we just wrote a awesome arrow season
Mission accomplished. Berlanti should hire us.
These last two episodes were probably my favs this season. I'm glad Laurel compared Diaz to Hunter. Inzaynmembrain97 That was not Oliver, that was human target.
JustAFan Fave are you talking about during the scene in the apartment with Felicity
Inzaynmembrain97 Yeah, that very scene.
JustAFan Fave I guess I could see what you mean by that I doubt it wasn’t Oliver considering I doubt he’d ever let another dude just kiss Felicity but it’s a good theory
I loved this episode, glad you guys did too, it reminded me of Fisk's flashback episode in Daredevil season 1
Also loving Kirk Acevedo as Diaz, his performance transcends the material he's given
Reminds me of those old Batman the Animated Series episodes where even when Batman doesn’t appear in the whole episode, it’s still good lol!
Dragon blew a guy up and set a guy on fire in the same episode.
1:26 is such an amazing moment lmao.
Very john wick heavy that episode
Loved this episode. Got to know Diaz's sad story, and got to see arrow from the perspective of someone who doesn't know what's going on.
This might be my favourite episode ever. Diaz is such a good villain. Up there with Slade and Adrian
Diaz is such a better villain than Cayden James and we get a whole episode dedicated to him. He's a badass, but completely insane and I love it.
I love Diaz's theme. I wouldn't say it's as good as Prometheus's but still pretty badass
Dragon waa basically John Wick in this episode.
Aaron, in season 2 episode 8 and 9, which was the barry allen intro episode, oliver is poisoned and felicity brings Barry in to save him and thats when barry finds out the oliver is the arrow. It was also the flash backdoor pilot or sorts
This is why Kirk Acevedo is one of my favorite TV actors because when he can play the bad guy so good (-_- ) Wasn't too sold on Dragon especially when Prometheus made it out like he was a second coming last week until this much-needed episode to dig into him personally.

this episode made me think: wouldn't it be cool if they made a John Wick TV Series? =O
like I meant he should be alone when he is patrolling and on the streets, with felicity on the comms. Then the others can be backup for big problems, like when they occasionally call in Barry, or Barry calls in Oliver and so on. The big team is not necessary for everything which yeah is essentially trying to find a middle ground lol. This week's best superhero show is Arrow
Man I love dragon now
Was i the only one who thought the Diaz shooting scene was a reference to John Wick?
54:41 watching the episode, I thought back to the ROTS novel too!
This Ep was lit 🔥✊🏽👽
why do i feel like this season of arrow could've created like 6 different spin offs
One of my favorite episodes of Arrow ever. Why are all of my favorite episodes based around villains? My favorite is the first Deathstroke one of this season
By the way we only know half the story about Diaz we still have to find out how he got the 20 million after being let out of prison and who taught him to fight.
Can the rest of the series just be following Richard Dragon and Oliver is the villain hooked on Vertigo 😂
This people who hates a great episode with a badass villian but loves full olicity episode... Arrow is dying.
Ian1909 most shows only go to season 10 anyway so dying isn’t the right term
Professor Zoom I mean, the 4th season destroyed the show. After that the ~olicity fans~ take over and the Arrow writers put this Bullshit EVERYWHERE, and somehow this olicity thing will come back anyhow because of them, just wait... They could bring back the 1st season feeling, but they would'nt.

With the team thing you have to think about the flashbacks that go back 5 years past the first episode
Oliver was poisoned in season 2 and felicity and diggle brought to the "arrow cave" and barry saved him. P.S. then oliver tried to attack Barry
Felicity is necessary? Remember the first season when he was his own tech support?
Oliver is capable yes but he isn’t on her level and they never even attempted to show that he was. He started going to felicity for help with tech in episode 3 of the first season.
Outside of the half baked inter team conflict , I i have liked everything else about this such as Oliver being a father ,the different approach to the Big Bads etc .i liked Cayden and I like Diaz more now ,especially after this episode.

Well Caiden put the entire city in jeopardy, he only takes the opportunity to do what he wants behind the scene.
I wish we had more episodes from different characters perspectives. This episode was phenomenal episode
Green Arrow & Black Siren only.
Ollie has been alone for 5 years XD. Well not totally, but consider those 5 years in "hell"
The first episode of Arrow season 4 is literally called "Green Arrow" so Eric was right😂😂😂
Please react to the Arrow Recap Rap by Warp Zone. It's really... something else.
Joshua H I just watched that today for like the millionth time because it’s so damn funny
Aaron, that hair and beard looking goooooooood boi
58:11 That was smooth ahahah
This the prometheus and deathstroke episodes the John vs arrow and the og arrow v new arrow were all good to great
I ve been waiting for this whole day
I feel like if Diaz goes after Lance, Black Siren will turn on him.
I will never understand why so many people hated this episode
The dragon is insane.
Stephen Amell said next year he will have a different hair style. So maybe he will have the goatee. And Roy is back next year
Hope Roy's actor is working out a bit more in prep for next season then cause he gained a few in that last episode he was in
James F I’m sure he is already getting ready for it.. he did gain weight but, those trainers will make sure he looks like he used to
14:14 is she talking about hunter zolomon
8:19 Diaz reminds me of Nicolas Cage lol
Audio a little off for anybody else?
Will you guys ever react to the show Gotham?
Roy Blekman right
Such an underrated show. I honestly think it might be the best DC show apart from Legends
Ryan O'Malley especially lately im loving the joker arc
Brandon Collins definitely not lame.
I want them to react to Gotham or Krypton
Dragon? Richard Dragon? I remember him being a good guy in the comics. Teaching the Question. One of the best martial artist in dc, if not the best; ahead of Lady Shiva.

All of which could have made an excellent storyline for the show, and actually would have given Diggle something to do, rather than lie about a compromising affliction, and whine about not getting to wear a uniform.
The name Richard Drakunovski, was from an origin series that was retconned during the 52 comic series. So he is just Richard Dragon.
You have to do Krypton reaction
Where did u get that Oliver on the left
And deathstroke
this episode actually lead me to want diaz to win
I think you should start a reaction for Gotham season 4 episodes....its getting better now.
when is the long poll we did a while ago going to be addressed?
No Arrow on "Arrow" and it was a great episode, LOL.

Dragon spinoff confirmed?
I wish. Honestly I can watch a show of just Diaz and Laural forming a criminal empire.
Positives:
I liked Kirk's performance. He always knows how to sell the intimidating prisoner/timetraveler/thug asshole type of character. Not surprising that he shined in this episode. He has always been solid in shows like OZ or 12 Monkey's. Great actor to have as a villain.
Negatives:
The dialogue was pretty horrendous.
Hieillua every show uses generic crappy dialogue.
Bro you writing a whole damn essay wow. Be proud. I read the whole thing.
Great villain, I felt for him and understood his motives.
Does this keep lagging or it just me?
green arrow and this solo thing is getting on my damn nerves
Diaz is like the personification of every white male cop in america. This episode was actually scary.
Agreed
Green Arrow, Black Canary and Arsenal. The rest of them don’t matter.
Aaron just lost a ton of comic book cred.
