In 1995 I stole a demo CD-ROM from an open magazine package and discovered that two audio tracks were coded into it. It was obviously game music and I loved it; incredible compositions with a modern, electro-urban edge. Hearing those tracks put me on a path to become a synth musician myself and I'll always be grateful for the promo department guy who loaded all those primitive video clips and game traders onto a disc and thought it would be cute to add some soundtrack bits just to fill the end of the disc. It was plum wine and iron piston from the MechWarrior 2 soundtrack and it'll always be incredible. Your seven minute version Of Iron Piston is very good.
Just FYI, these covers are as follows. From the start to 6:48 is Pyre Light. 6:48 to 10:43 is Silent Thunder. 10:43 to 17:31 is Arkham Bridge. 17:31 to 23:19 is Umber Wall. 23:19 to 27:23 is Sable Flame. 27:23 to 34:15 is Iron Piston. 34:15 to 39:51 is Temper Edge. 39:51 to the end is Golden Spade.
Amazing, unreal, holy shit...woooowww! this brings back memories, from when I was slaying it on MechWarrior 2 in 1995...takes me right back...these tracks are even better now that they have been enhanced to this level of musical brilliance and innovation. Props man.

That's the whole point of Mech 2's OST. That was what Timothy Seals was gunning for. Music that makes you feel like you're actually in the Mech itself apart of the battle, blasting away at these Jade Falcon surats cause they be talking mad shit and now its up to you to show them the end of a Gauss Rifle or PPC looks like

One of the most epic songs from MW2, the original played on the last wolf trial, it made you feel like the fate of the universe depended on that battle :) It's so nice to hear a refreshed version, you didn't have this one before... Golden Spade's buildup and runoff is absolutely perfect. I find myself wanting another Battletech series or film to happen just for the chance to have Timothy Seals be brought on for music.
BattleTech PC has finally brought forth what I have waited for since I first crawled into a mech on my pc in 1998. I am pleased there are others who celebrate and expand upon a universe that has given us so much. I was born 87, introduced 98 (Mechwarrior2), Clanner to this day.
I got a question, as you I was introduced with MW2, with that single game being what brought so many people to the franchise do you think it is a mistake for them to not have clans in battletech/mw5?
@@kinggoten I personally do not think it is a mistake to not include Clans for BattleTech/MW5. There are a lot of untold stories within the Inner Sphere and the developers want to explore into that such as what HBS is doing to bring House Arano and the Coalition into canon to fill in the empty periphery space between the Taurians and Magistracy. This can also be done for the Clan Homeworlds. Stuff like playing as one of the Wolfs of Wolf's Dragoons would be cool. I don't know. I was never a fan of the Clans but I wouldn't mind seeing stories similar to the Aurigan Coalition in Clan space. Since a lot of BattleTech/MW5 fans are asking for Clans, HBS/PGI might consider an expansion in the future.
@@DoomChopStick Clans are very polarizing I get it, but in terms of video games pretty much all the iconic mechs that you could market the game with are clan mechs, a person who may have been away since mw4 could see a timber wolf and instantly recall their childhood etc... In terms of my more personal thoughts I love the idea of playing as a Inner Sphere Merc, and then towards the end of the game or in a possible expansions the Clans would be a great villain to fight against imagine having to take down a Timber Wolf for salvage if it has its proper power level compared to IS mechs of the Era that sounds like a amazing intense and fun battle. The reverse could also be fun, playing the Clans and trying to use as few resources as possible to complete missions to challenge yourself could be a load of fun also, and the more I type the more I think this is better suited to be an expansion, but from a pure marketing aspect I feel like it is a mistake.

It's 2021, and I still listen to this all the time; on the way to and from work, while I'm cleaning/working around the house. Its absolutely great, and I wish there were more recent videos and projects in the makings.
This is too good for MW5:M. What *would* be nice is for this or a (somehow) better version to come in for a new _MechWarrior_ game that focuses on one or two of the Clans, particularly as the protagonists. There hasn't been a game like that since MW2. Kinda want to move away from Clans Wolf and Jade Falcon, though. They get enough time in the limelight as it is. Maybe do something with Coyote or Steel Viper instead... Really, there's plenty of Clans to choose from.

Very rarely does a cover/remix album beats the original soundtrack. Even harder when the original one thrones amongst the best game soundtracks ever made. This is a master class on how to ameliorate a track without denaturing the true spirit of it. Simply astounding, amazing job.

I grew up playing MechWarrior 3 and 4, but I recognize how awesome 2 was. This just makes me want to play a remaster MechWarrior 2, if that can even happen.
Oh, that would be fantastic. I'd lose so much productivity playing through the first two games (since I've never had the opportunity before). Especially 2. The story just seems fantastic, but I can barely get my computer to behave with 4, much less one that old.

This is something really special. It touches so many nerves in a new and refreshing way, just like the tracks on the original album did all those long years ago. I was in the same boat, funny enough, and MechWarrior's rich lore and stories about overcoming darkness and incredible adversity being worth all of the pain and anguish endured during the fight, really helped me through some weirdly dark times in my gradeschool and highschool years. It bears admission that I'm mildly autistic and was undiagnosed at that time, which made even simple and stupid social interactions miserable, but I was also bullied pretty badly to add insult to injury. Being much better adjusted these days, I don't have a lot of nostalgia for much of anything other than MechWarrior from that time, particularly 2 and 4, but the recent loss of my job and the resulting feelings of powerlessness are dredging up some bad memories. I'm currently coping by writing a historical allegory novel set in aproto-dystopian sci-fi world whose politics, aesthetics and logic are heavily influenced by the MechWarrior lore, and I've been unable to stop listening to this for a few days while writing. Had to go and buy the album, it deserves recognition. This means a lot to me, and maybe I can buy you a beer some day. $15 AUD for the download will have to suffice for now.
The Madcat shown is a wonderful rendition and compromise between the older games and what MWO is. Tbh if we had mechs like this more often that'd be great ^^
GLORIOUS! ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS I SPENT SO MANY HOURS PLAYING THE GAME LISTENING TO THE ORIGINAL STUFF AND THIS IS THE SAME YET BETTER BRING BACK MANY MEMORIES OF BURNING ENEMY MECHS AT MY FEET. ( yes, I am yelling this)
To be honest I'd like to be the counter argument to Jeff. I can always listen to the originals any time but I cant listen to the originals remastered/remixed in such an AMAZING way. I like the new direction you went with quite a bit.
Regardless of being a cover, all of these tracks are super atmospheric, well done. I was hooked right the way through. Favourite has to be Arkham Bridge 11:07 which sounds like an incredible finale battle against enormous odds which you likely won't live through, and then that transition at the end is so beautiful but has a sorrow full feeling accompanying it. Reminds me a little of God Moving Over The Face Of Waters by Moby at the end of the film Heat 🥰

I was in the same boat, funny enough, and MechWarrior's rich lore and stories about overcoming darkness and incredible adversity being worth all of the pain and anguish endured during the fight, really helped me through some weirdly dark times in my gradeschool and highschool years. It bears admission that I'm mildly autistic and was undiagnosed at that time, which made even simple and stupid social interactions miserable, but I was also bullied pretty badly to add insult to injury.
Being much better adjusted these days, I don't have a lot of nostalgia for much of anything other than MechWarrior from that time, particularly 2 and 4, but the recent loss of my job and the resulting feelings of powerlessness are dredging up some bad memories. I'm currently coping by writing a historical allegory novel set in aproto-dystopian sci-fi world whose politics, aesthetics and logic are heavily influenced by the MechWarrior lore, and I've been unable to stop listening to this for a few days while writing. Had to go and buy the album, it deserves recognition.
This means a lot to me, and maybe I can buy you a beer some day. $15 AUD for the download will have to suffice for now.

The Madcat shown is a wonderful rendition and compromise between the older games and what MWO is. Tbh if we had mechs like this more often that'd be great ^^

To be honest I'd like to be the counter argument to Jeff. I can always listen to the originals any time but I cant listen to the originals remastered/remixed in such an AMAZING way. I like the new direction you went with quite a bit.

Regardless of being a cover, all of these tracks are super atmospheric, well done. I was hooked right the way through. Favourite has to be Arkham Bridge 11:07 which sounds like an incredible finale battle against enormous odds which you likely won't live through, and then that transition at the end is so beautiful but has a sorrow full feeling accompanying it. Reminds me a little of God Moving Over The Face Of Waters by Moby at the end of the film Heat 🥰
