I’ve been a Mech Warrior fan since I was a child and my grandad gave me Mech Assault Lone Wolf 2. Remember the first time playing this game, doing a test run in instant action and the music started playing. "Wait, why is this so good?" I forget which track it was, but it made me appreciate the game all the better for actually having an OST that rocks.
For me it was One Less Enemy. It comes on and I forget all about the objective, all that remains is the heat gauge and the trigger finger. Still trying to figure out which absolute banger plays on the trash planet.
Judgement and Retribution played very early on in my campaign during a surprising difficult random mission to defend a Davion field hospital against a Pirate raid. There were so many Firestarters in that battle,it was also my first introduction to the firestarter, pushed my Centurion to it's limits to knock em all down. Sure I've had more intense fights in my now long running Career mode but finding out the track name just made it so fitting for that battle.
First game was MechWarrior 2. I got it for Christmas. It was a bundle package that came with a Sidewinder Joystick and I was obsessed and blown away by how amazing the graphics were. I've been playing MechWarrior games since I first rented MechWarrior 3050 on the SNES as a kid. This music brings back the nostalgia through the years.
I'm in bittersweet relationship with this track. In one side, I know this is an awesome track. On the other side, when this track playing while I'm dropping off from the drop ship, thing gonna start exploding real soon real quick. They drop me off right in front of hostile base. Usually on raid or assassination mission.

15:15 The artillery is dropping by the dozens in a 92 difficulty mission. You haven’t even exited the dropship yet, let alone powered on the Mech. The doors open and it’s a full blown D-Day landing with Mechs and artillery. You’ve lost half your armor on a Stalker assault Mech before you’ve even stepped out the doors.
But when my stripped down flamer spider gets moving clocking 180kph before supercharger and jumping nearly a kilometer per bound... Those artillery sites go silent quite quickly. And my lance slowly begin to educate them on the true definition of "Resistance is futile"... Damn i love this game.

It's the very definition of background music. Fits the moment that its in, but as soon as you actually pay attention to it you realize how boring or generic it is.
Metal music has been apart of Battletech since pretty much the beginning. Probably the less "generic" song in all of MW5 is the Mercenaries theme (also used as the menu theme).
It’s good. But it tends to waver and repeat a LOT. I don’t know if this is intended, so forgive my apparent ignorance. Thank God it’s not more early 2000’s phoned-in post-industrial. It’s metal. But it’s metal that feels like it doesn’t really get off the ground, if that makes any sense.
It doesn't peak or drop much because you're supposed to be tense, vigilant. IME it's great for keeping you attentive and searching for targets, while not distracting you from doing just that. It gets the blood pumping without bringing the focus away from the gameplay, which I like.
@@RavenWolffe77 Agreed! It serves well for pretty much anything where music is better than silence, but you don't want to end up distracted by the music itself. It's usually why game OSTs are what I listen to while working on pretty much anything.
Yeah agreed it's like hearing half a song.
