- Copenhagen is one of the most visited cities in Scandinavia. It’s known for its colourful waterfront, its cobblestone streets and… how expensive it can be. So I spent a weekend in Copenhagen to find out if you can have a nice time there without spending a fortune.
Check out the behind the scenes vlog: • James May sent me to C...

Where should I go next? Cheap suggestions appreciated 😅
Budapest!
Naples
Wild camping in Norway, with the right to roam, it's free...
Wisła in Poland in February, I'll treat you to a bowl of Zurek😊
Come to Malta!!
As a Dane living in the suburbs of Copenhagen i must admit, this guide was amazing, showing the great sites that doesn't break the bank. And a stroll through Copenhagen can give some gorgeous experiences, even for someone who have always lived closed to it.
I like that Lucy came out to Nørrebro/Bispebjerg to see Grundtvigs Kirken so many TH-camrs come to Copenhagen get stuck in Indre By and complain about the cost of everything…
@@HannahJ totally agree. :D
A Lucy Brown video is always a must see.
Did Lucy call smørrebrød smörgåsbord? The first is a Danish delicious dish and the second is a Swedish way of serving food, by not serving it but having the guests do the work.
I wondered about that! Thanks for the clarification. 🙂
The auto-generated captions transcribed it as "snorer bo". Who knows what _she_ thought she was saying 🤷♂️
For 2:19, you can save the 4.50 pounds. Instead of the Round Tower, you can walk for 5 minutes to the Danish Parlament, where you can get to the top of the tower for free, and get a very nice view of the Copenhagen.
Thank you for a great tip. Heading to Copenhagen in 2 days.
On a side note, I recommend taking the stairs down.
Going up, you ride one elevator to a higher floor, get out, and take another elevator to the tower. On the floor where you change elevators, there is also access to a staircase called IIRC the Princess Stair. It doesn't look like much from there, but once you get another floor down, you find yourself in very grand staircase that leads to a one-way exit at the bottom, feeling like a VIP to have it all to yourself! 😊
It's awesome that Lucy is continuing the cheap travel videos, she is so good at them.
For folks who don't fancy the pods, I stayed in the Go Hotel Copenhagen at Tårnby near the airport for about the same price as quoted in this vid. It's a bit basic but you get proper hotel rooms and breakfast thrown in and you can save money on the train fare to the airport as it is literally a 2 mile / 30 min walk through the park.
Food wise - have a pölsehorn from 7/11 and don't forget to keep hold of your plastic drinks bottles to get your PANT deposit back afterwards.
For folks who absolutely have to see the sights, the Copenhagen Card is worth it, if only for the travel alone, although the rates on the DSB app weren't too bad.
The best small budget travel blog... in the worrrlld. 😄
Copenhagen looks like a lovely place to visit and its good to know it can be done on the cheap.
Got back from Copenhagen a week ago, after spending 5 days there, it’s a wonderful place to visit and walk round.
thats good to know that it can be done on a budget... thanks again Lucy
Wish this video existed before my Copenhagen trip! Now I want to go back and follow all your tips, Lucy 🤩
Awesome video Ms. Brown. Each time I see you in a video either with James or on your own, I understand why he is fond of you. Thank you from Ontario, Canada.
Love how the flight was £79. Round trip flights from Toronto where I live are the equivalent of about £1,000 depending upon time of year for economy on a 7 1/2 hour flight. Makes Copenhagen itself seem very cheap by comparison.
You don't have to break the bank to see Copenhagen. Loads of museums are free, and Copenhagen is picturesque enough to walk through. If you ever go back, try the hotdog stands that are littered through out the city. Absolutely fantastic!
Lucy "I don't like cheese" Brown eats steak tartare!! Nice work. Looks like a great place to visit
Lucy doesnt like cheese ?
@@sianwarwick633 from what I remember of the James May bunker videos, no.
@@sianwarwick633 She's a little weird with foods. And... it's a little weird we're so frivolously commenting about that.
@@chriscooks9850 Tartare goes down well with cod/salmon +mint mayo
YES, YES YES YES YES YES, Lucy Brown travel show, GOD I missed this ❤
YES FINALLY!!! A Travel vlog!
I've waited so long for this. Thank you for this, I loved it!
The pod looks cool. And the chill park looked like I could get my nap on lol
I love how James made you go to visit somewhere notoriously expensive but do it on a budget. Also, it is cool to learn to appreciate things that people would otherwise walk by and not think twice of.
Yaay new lucy videos making their way out, love to see it
Glad you enjoyed your trip. If you want to, you can always try and meet some locals. Social Media is great for that.
Always enjoy a new video from Lucy
You can also get the Copenhagen card that covers most of all the attractions and travel from the city all the way to the airport and Roskilde at different prices depending on how long you stay.
+1 for this. Most cities do a card like this - Stockholm, Amsterdam, Oslo, Dublin etc - and they are nearly always worth it, if only for the travel alone. The Amsterdam one for example paid for itself within a day (we got a 3-day card). Also the fact you can have it on an app means you can plan and keep track of where you go and what you do.
Great video Lucy, Copenhagen is lovely and well worth a visit
5:01 Danish and English are very similar. For example, 'Farvel' in Danish translates to 'Farewell' in English, and it's pronounced like 'far-well.' Thank you for visiting Copenhagen 😊
Very informative indeed. I look forward to seeing the vlog next week.
Hej Lucy! Glad you liked it here. I came for a holiday 30 something years ago, liked it so much I moved lol.
Smørgåsbord is however Swedish the Danish open sandwich is Smørrebrød. The round tower was designed by the then King, so he could ride to the top on his horse. Great video and as we say over here "farvel". Where English got Fare well from. Maybe.
You're brilliant at these little travel films Lucy!
I visited Copenhagen cca. a month ago and was really surprised it wasn't as expensive as I expected. I really loved the city and will definitely visit again... and the people are super nice there 😉
me visiting Copenhangen for an extended period of time at the end of the year, this is going to really help :)
Love to see this. I really enjoyed the videos where Richard and Mike sent you across Europe on the cheap flights. You really seem to of perfected this style of video, and seem more comfortable doin them. :)
Awesome video Lucy , so happy you are doing travel guides again
Pro tip for visiting - use the water bus to sail along the kanals to Reffen. Gives another kind of view for as little as a normal bus / public transport fare.
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is free on the last wednesday of each month! It's a great museum if you like Greek sculptures and Egyptian mummies
Always love your travelogs - down to earth and practical. I've only been through the Copenhagen airport, but even that was impressive! Definitely on my "must visit" list! So, cheese is a no, but steak tartare is okay? 😄
Super interesting. 🙂 Dreaming of the danish pipe shop.
Watching Lucy eat is always good entertainment. Nice to see the Budget Travels are still around.
Nicely done! I like the premise for that. You have a great eye for how to frame a shot too. The pod thing is a need idea - didn't know that was even an option in a place like that (I'd only ever heard of those in Japan).
I'm going there in 3 weeks, thanks Lucy!
I made the following comment on your chilli beef video, wishing for more travel vids.
Thank you Lucy - this was exactly what I had in mind.

Much though this was an informative cooking video, I really miss you travelling around.
Now that you don't work for Drivetribe, you could travel again, just without having to cram everything into a day or having to ask strangers to film you and without being unprepared (clothing-wise) for the destination.
You could go on a slightly more reasonable budget, rather than a rock-bottom budget.
All trips using a smaller suitcase/larger travel bag - no squashing everything into a rucksack!
People would trust your opinion and we'd all enjoy watching you discover new locations. I really enjoyed your other trips.
Did not expect you to visit a place about 10 mins from where I live (Grundtvigskirken) when doing a Copenhagen on a budget guide, since it's a bit outside of Copnehagen
We love Lucy 😍 Oh, and the tour was fab!
Oh class, glad you're still making these!
Bostin
Great video. I do miss the behind the scenes shots from your previous trips, though. They were often the highlights, as far as I'm concerned.
Nice little video presentation of Copenhagen on a budget
For Copenhagen, the Steelhouse is a good budget option for accommodation.
Loved this one! And i think it was a great suggestion to try and visit a pricey place but inexpensively. So many amazing places to visit, but you dont want to take out a second mortgage to visit!
What a great vlog, Lucy. The subject was great, but the videography, and the editing were spectacular. The jump shots of you walking were spot on, and all the jump cuts were perfectly timed to the background music. Just amazing.
You should teach a master class on this.
Added to my travel list.
Trying to get a schgen visa to get to Copenhagen. This helps massively with the places to stay , costs etc . Love the format of 5mins ish. Thank you.
5:17 Mostly fairly chill, but it's almost sacrilege to refer to the smørrebrød using a Swedish word!
Copenhagen is amazing and agree you can do it cheapish it's food/drink is where it goes up.
So happy that this series is living on!
I can see budget travel being a big hit for your channel. Really enjoying the vids! Wouldn't mind seeing them more fleshed out if you're willing.
Yay!! A Lucy vid to brighten up my week!
Dusseldorf was pretty good, when I went many years ago.
A great travel vlog!! No asking strangers to film you though, I see you.
Thanks.. I really enjoyed the mini travel videos you made with Richardl.. I'm glad you are making them again.
Hi Lucy, Good to see you! Keep making great films and I'll keep watching Cheers!
Great that James is still involved, missed ya!
I love cph. It's enough european without having that big-city world-vibe that Stockholm might have. in cph you absolutely can splash cash, but if you just treat yourself on one thing, you can do a lot of stuff, without queuing with other tourists. Off-seasong is the absolute best. And you don't have to do cph centrer, there's alot of other parts of the city that is highly recommended.
Loved this one. Nice job Lucy! Really enjoy these. I'm going to make that steak Tar Tar.
Love it 😊 Copenhagen is on my list to revisit. Would love to see an Iceland version …
So would I 😂
@@LucyBrownVids Thanks for taking the time to reply. Could you do a video on tips on solo travelling without getting bored ok that might just be me.
Glad to see more travel content, really enjoyed the ones you did before as well.
Happy to see you enjoyed Denmark i do too :)
Lucy your videos are always so relaxing and i enjoy seeing them 😁
Dont give those pesky danes our swedish smörgåsbord! What you had was smörrebröd (which is good too I guess, for a danish thing). Fun video as usual, Lucy!
Scandinavia really isnt expsensive as such. Many things costs slightly more than elsewhere because we genereally let things cost what they need to maintain a high standard.
Great new video Lucy. Looking forward to all your future videos.
That was great ! I visited as a tourist and worked there a little bit. Best avoided in winter as it is *the* windest city I've had to trudge through in winter darkness. From memory, the tower's spiral path was to allow horses to be brought up ( why, I can't remember. Maybe horses like high views too 🙃). It's a great city - compact enough to walk to most of the sights.
Really enjoyed these kinda vids in the past stoked they are back. Cheers for the vid :D
Yay! Travel Lucy is back. Brilliant mini travel log.
Wonder if Malta is achievable on a budget?
It is great to have you back Lucy! I thought you abandoned your own channel.
She,s been back forra fairwhile now
Nice video Lucy, lovely weather for it too. PS We've missed you.
Excellent edit!
James' version of Mission Impossible, go to Copenhagen, it's lovely. lol Thank you so much!
Loved the travel blog! As for future travel vlog suggestions, I'd say Helsinki, or somewhere in Finland
Great work!
Dublin on a budget might be interesting. I went there a few years ago and it was really good, lots to do but lots walkable from the centre. Casino Marino is good and a bit obscure.
Fantastic stuff to know *checks air miles available*
Love the video, always a great watch.
Skol! 🍻
Greetings from Norway! 🇳🇴
Hey , Lucy !
I just want to tell you that your trips are amazing and wish you to continue this type of career
And I hope you to start a journey to the middle east and Africa
Ahmad from Syria 🇸🇾
Nice one!
love the video!!! great job
Lucy you should try Paphos, Cyprus. Great value for money - as long as you don't eat at the harbour.
yay more travel videos!
You got the travel vlog bug now Lucy? I enjoy watching your travelling misadventures 😀
Try Granada. A truly magic city.
Do what the locals do, go to the supermarket to get your beers and food and then bring a blanket to sit on in the park and enjoy the sun.
Brilliant!!!!
Great vid Lucy…did I spot the walk along the water was mirrored/flipped? The t shirt gave it away😊
We love it when OUR Lucy Brown spoils us with a video....
Thanks for another fun video.
4:10 ATTENTION JAMES MAY... Lucy is trying some new food! I repeat Lucy is trying some new food... Ramming speed Mr Christian!
Wait, wait, wait. Wait. Lucy had support crew!? Ooooo, someone is getting fancy!
Istanbul Lucy, fabulous place.
Was this filmed a couple of weeks ago? I was in Norway and apparently its quite rare to get sunny blue skies in may according to some people I spoke to.
I went at the start of April and got absolutely soaked
Fantastic - love your travel blogs 🥰 I would have blown the budget going to Legoland if I was in Denmark (west of Copenhagen) 😂
I got my Lego Driving licence in Denmark. Had to parallel park it, was difficult, as it was Left Hand Drive Lego Car.
i recored a v-log and it will be *LIVE* next week Mmmm lololol .... nice vid and channel thought Lucy...
peace
Judith charmers is back 😎👍
