    Mags have a big impact on them. If you're going to carry it, don't carry the Mecgar mags. I've got a video coming out about the mags causing issues.

      That’s true mags do make a difference.I’ll keep a eye out for the video.

      100% BST, the WC mags run great, see my earlier comment about the HP bullet shape...that's the other 50% of the feed issue

    Well done. Saving people money on mags and ammo testing. I have 1 Tisas so far and love it. Bought chip m mags asap, no issues....still breaking mine in.

    So, my initial assesment on video #1 was correct... 95% of the reliability issues on a 1911 are magazine related. Here, again, Wilson Combat Mags are 100% reliable and it is due to the Early release point on the mag lips plus the follower shape that prevents nose-dive. Nice video.... I see you polished the feed ramp.

    • @2Afreedomrange

      I have a Wilson combat mag and my colt will still nose dive sometimes. It’s not always the mag

      @@gunlover5564 What type of ammo are you shooting when it happens? FMJ, JHP?... What bullet weights are you using? 230 grains... 185?. How old are the Magazines... Have you replaced the springs on them? Are you using the 8 rounders or the 7 rounders? What size gun are you using 5", 4.25"...3"? What recoil spring weight you have on your gun.. 16 lbs? When the nose dive happens, doest it happen on the Last or first round? Have you checked the feed ramp has the correct 31.5° as designes by Browning?

    • @gunlover5564
      @gunlover5564 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Papieck37 I’ve only shot maybe 100 rounds through it and the mags are the original colt mags that came with it and an 8 round mag Wilson combat. I’ve honestly haven’t shot it enough to wear the mags out, they’re all new. It’s full size GI model and blued.
      The ammo is 230grain Winchester white box and blazer brass. As for the rest I’m not entirely sure, I’d have to open the manual or look up my serial number. As far as knowing the feed ramp, how do I go about doing that?
      I’ve wondered myself if it wasn’t the feed ramp. I’ve considered contacting colt and sending it in for evaluation.

    • @Papieck37
      @Papieck37 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gunlover5564 couple of thing I will do... Leave your Mags loaded over night with full capacity and test them again... Some times Mags require "break in". To measure the feed ramp, you will need a short arm protractor. If the ramp shows to be out of spec, I will contact Colt. I will also do a small test to make sure you have right extractor tension. Use a 230grain bullets and with the slide remove from the frame, inserta the round behind de extractor, as if the round was picked from the magazine, then rotate the slide 360° and check the round is held in place all the time.... If you feel excesivo tensión from the extractor, then that is your problem and one of the causes for nose dive. Another problem could be the mail recoil spring.... If the spring doesnt allow the slide to fully move back during cycling, then the slide will short stroke the next round causing nose dive...... 5" models should carry a 16# spring from factory. I ran mines with 18# springs.

    Hi Sir!
    As I said on your other Tisas Video, some of these 1911 pistols require a 500 to 700 round Break In. This looks like one of those 1911 Pistols. I bet she runs perfect after that. I dig the looks of this 1911…. I did not want to buy anymore 1911’s, but this may be #37 for me. I can’t seem to stop. 😊😎🇺🇸👍

    I just ordered one of these from my local dealer (SPAR Firearms Mechanicsburg Pa) in 9mm to go with my 9mm Stingray. Should have it sometime next week. Hope it is as nice in it's own way as the Stingray. This will make 18, 1911s in calibers 22LR, 22TCM, 380ACP, 38 SUPER 9mm and 45ACP. Almost went for the 10mm version but with 74 year old wrists, I think I will enjoy the 9mm more. Really enjoy your videos keep them coming.

    I'm working through some issues with my Night Stalker. I'm not so much focusing on magazines. But, I am exploring the tolerances in the barrel throat. This Tisas seems just a wee bit tighter compared to my Spring Field Mil-Spec.
    Using a "plunk rest" comparison between the Spring Field and Tisas barrels.
    Hand loads vs factory ammo, the Tisas has just the slightest bit of resistance when a round is dropped into the barrel throat. However, the SA does have many years of round throughput.
    Also note the Tisas barrel's coating is also inside its throat.
    Testing continues...

Seems like the Tisas just needs a bit of a break in period but the Wilson Combat mags might be the way to go with this here budget 1911.

    That’s a good thing to know which defense rounds will run in pistols designed to specifically run round ball in it’s original make. Look at how the 1911 has evolved into other calibers of fun shooters.

    I use ‘Metalform’ mags in a 10mm and in a 38 super, and 38 super mags in my 1911-9mm that use the same round top follower type that Wilson combat uses. (Not all followers in Metalform mags are front end supported round tops)
    It’s a non tilt follower, where the mass produced mags like mec-gar and most Act-Mags, seem to just use a flat top split follower that allows ammo to tilt into the feed ramp of the frame, sometimes loading, sometimes stovepiping.

    The solution is simple bro, Federal HST, look at the bullet shape the radius is much the same as FMJ/ball ammo, those will feed great. If ya get an extreme HP like Super Vel where nearly the width of the bullet is cut for the hollow point, those won't feed for crap

    I had terrible luck with Ed Brown mags. The nitride coated mags wouldn’t even load into my 1911. The nitride was thick, and sticky. Seemed more like paint than nitride. Ed Brown wouldn’t stand behind them. Instead of replacing them they ground down the coating (ugly as hell), and sent them back to me. Still wouldn’t load into the gun. I think Ed Brown sucks.
