    I recently bought a TISAS Raider 1911 .45 auto for a truck gun. Shot pretty well. Slide to frame fit is excellent, no over bite or under bite, extractor head is blended perfectly as good as my Les Baers and Ed Brown 1911s. No play in the barrel lock up. The thumb safety was a tad loose and not positive click click, so i used a Dremel took with the smallest cutting head to deepen the detent and ordered Wilson plunger spring and new plunger tubes. Dropped it in and instantly got a very positive on/off click click. Good truck, fishing, camping, hiking, and exploring dark, spooky, scary places at night. The Raider has rails and fit the Streamlight TLR-1 1,000 lumen light like it was made for it. For $680 out the door, you can beat it with a stick.
    The trigger broke between 4.5 to 5 pounds and felt good. I replaced the long plastic trigger with a short aluminum trigger as i have small hands. Shoots just fine. I don't need 3.7 plund trigger for a truck and fishing gun.

    Unknown mag was a Metal form brand. Had a gunsmith recommend years ago for a problematic Tisas 1911 I had purchased. He advised the Metal form with the rounded follower was the one that worked best. Still have the Tisas & no issues with those mags.

    I have had my eye on the Tisas Special Service for a while, reminds me of the 1911's I saw in the early 1980's. Great review GB..thanks

    I've had feeding and jamming issues with nickel plated brass in multiple 1911's. Had a Winchester PDX1 round completely stuck in the chamber of my Dan Wesson CBOB. It was not coming out. Had to remove the main spring housing to relieve tension, put it in a vice and beat the slide back with a mallet. Fun times. Won't run nickel plated brass in 1911's anymore.

  • @AG-no1dq

    I just picked up my first 1911, a Tisas carry in 9mm. I've put 200 rounds through it, having many failures to eject with Blazzer Brass 115gr. I switched to S&B 124 gr. and have only a couple failure to ejects. All of the ejections come straight back and hits me in my forehead. My local gun store says that this is not unusual. I would never consider this a an EDC due to that, but the gun is easy, accurate, and fun to shoot.

    Purchased a Tisas SS45R, before it was a known product. Pretty much a loaded stainless 1911 with a rail for $450, from CDNN. All I did was add G10 grips and it was failure-free from the first shot. However, I shoot 230 grain ball ammo. I leave the "best killing ammo" arguments up to other people. (chuckle).

    My small sample size... my 1911s do like a break in period. I also find different ammo performs differently. I think I am repeating what Bill Wilson says.

      @GBGuns are you going to do another review on the night stalker? I'm interested to see how it handles prolonged usage, and have you put any other ammunition specifically any other defensive or +p ammo through the gun? If so how do the externals look after doing so?

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @timjr260 we may come back to it later, but typically don't have time (or resources) for extended reviews. There's no need for +p from this barrel length.

    I beleive that every 1911 needs a couple hundred rounds for the parts to marry. 500 rounds like some companies want seems a little too much tho. Alot of the wide mouth hollowpoints cause feeding probs. Great job graham

  • @roguemodel
    @roguemodel ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have the usual suspects in 9mm. Stacatto, Hayes Custom, Atlas. I saw this pistol at my dealer and it looked good. The fit was very tight and I will oil it before use. The trigger is a compromise, not too hard, not to soft. You can tune it of course. The internals are not MIM, but high grade steel. The issue with MIM is that it wears sooner, although it would take a large number rounds put though. The real issue with MIM is the quality and contaminant of the steel, even wht type of steel is poured. The only concern I have is the thinness of the barrel, even though it is cold-hammered forged. We will see its longevity in the future. If it's case hardened then it should be okay, which is why Tisas used the method iron. Tisas and Girsan, although Turkish guns, listen to the American market and they watch trends. Both have quietly upgraded their offerings knowing American demand for quality.

  • @joshualemaster9328
    @joshualemaster9328 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I got a standard Tisas with a hard chrome barrel. I have FTF issues with supplied mags. Seems to be the last round. It goes 90 percent in and stops. I need to buy and try some Wilson mags. I wanted to put it in a bag and carry it, but I don't trust it. It was only 350 after tax, but I had high hopes. Also the safety has 3 positions. One safe. Two separate clicks for off safe. Both seem to fire fine, but I don't like it. I'm so so accurate when it does work though.

    I have Girsan 1911 MC. Did not run with the supplied magazines. I bought some Wilson Combat and ran fine with them. I love the look of the nightstalker 1911. Be curious how the 9mm runs. I ended up picking a px9 gen 3 from your reviews. Awesome gun, still needs break in though. Not locking back on empty consistently yet.

    • @GBGuns

    • @JackofNothingess
      @JackofNothingess ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have one of those, and it took me a while to wear it in before it consistently had minimal feed or extraction issues, which I blame the magazine for that one. Once I got a Wilson Combat magazine in it, it worked great. Teething issues aside from the initial 500, it's got almost 2,000 rds through it now and has been working great.

    Nice Nighthawk tri carry clone. The Smith at Nighthawk made the pistol for his guild test. he has since left nighthawk and if correct, is now on his own. Can't confirm that though.
    The actual gun this was cloned from also had tri cut front strap. The grips here are a virtual clone of the Night Hawk when they carried this model. I believe they still have the grips/Scales available.

    Its funny the range video dropped 4 weeks before the tabletop lol. How much compatibility does this Tisas have with standard 1911 parts? I'd love to see a side by side comparison of budget 1911s, such as this, the Girsan and RIA. This one looks like it has more "bang for the buck " lol.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The tabletop video was even earlier, but when I "publish" a video the date is updated to that day. As far as I see everything 1911 should be compatible with this gun.

    Wow! 7 yards ... 50% more than 5 yards ... I wonder what it would do at 25 yds.,

      We've used 7 yards as a standard for years, it's the distance within which the majority of defensive shooting happens. At 25 yards you'd see my eyesight impact "accuracy" more than the performance of the firearm.

    When you shoot a new gun you should have always carry few extra lights recoil springs,FTE problems always because the leak of ammo power factor. Stop blem on the guns.
