    As soon as I saw your video reminder come up, I went straight out and had my supper before hand, and I was not hungry when you were eating that wonderful Breakfast, It looked good and I could see you both enjoyed it, great Drone shots at the top aside the Castle, and when I saw our Carol walking along in time to some beautiful Music reminiscent of a Robin Hood Movie at the top of the Mountain, It just finished off a beautiful peace of editing, Super, travel safely you two, regards, Colin.

    Superb, didn't realise that this was the method of laying a floor in a van. I'd imagine I'll be using your footage as reference for some time to come. Cheers matey, informative and entertaining video.

    Good point on the fuel pump access , never seen this mentioned before ..........

      I suppose the chances of needing to get to the pump are pretty slim but they must have designed the cover plate there for a reason.

    Hi Andy- Thank you for documenting your conversion- I will be doing a simpler one, but am learning a lot about the NV (mine is cargo) from your series and seeing good ideas to incorporate into a design. The swivel seat is terrific- I'm in the US so that would be be flipped, of course- very helpful to see your step-by-step. I hope the battens do well- it may be better to use solid wood strips (poplar?), as ply has less bite for screws. I may seal the ply beforehand with polyurethane to slow down any effect of any condensation on the ply with cold weather use. Looking forward to watching and learning from them all.

      Hi KT, thanks for the comment. Yes, solid wood battens would perhaps provide better grip for the screws but I have had no issues as yet. Sealing the ply sounds like a good idea.

    Hi, I am re-watching all your videos since I am determined to convert my Nv 200 as well. I am not an English native speaker, so I think I am missing some information. How thick is the ply you used and what kind of ply is it?
    Thank you in advance!

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Bea, it is indoor ply, available from good hardware stores. I used 12mm on the flooring and 3.6mm on the panels.

    Hi Andy, really appreciate you creating all of these videos for the NV200 conversion, you've done a fantastic job! I've recently picked one up myself and I'm currently starting the conversion process. I'm excited but at the same time, a complete newbie with DIY in general so it's a big learning curve for me. I hope you don't mind me asking stupid questions! What thickness ply did you use? Also did you use any special type of ply such as marine ply? I don't think you mentioned it unless I've missed this.

    • @rlaxMedia

      Sorry Andy, just seen that you did mention the thickness.

    Hi Andy. I've just subscribed to your channel as I intend to convert one of these vans as a permanent sleeper/tradie wagon that can also be switched into a camper for trips away. Could you tell me the maximum dimension mattress you can get into these vans?

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lewis, thanks for watching and commenting. The maximum floor length is 195cm and the widest part above the wheel arches is 130cm. I hope this helps.

    Could you have just cut the floor straight across that part of the sheet and put a hinge on it to open it up? Easy to open up that whole section?

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      do you mean the small panel over the fuel pump? I think having a hinged section would be prone to problems with the board likely to flex etc. Also the chances of actualy needing to get to the pump are minimal (hopefully) so I reckoned this was the best and most practical option.

    What kind of plywood did you use? I guess one with many layer is best? Buying some tomorrow for my conversion :) Great videos, really helpful!

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Daniel, I used 12mm ply which I bought from a builders merchants

    • @fieldnote_music
      @fieldnote_music 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, so just regular fir construction plywood? No problems with screws not attaching to the wood?

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, just normal ply and used standard wood screws.

    • @fieldnote_music
      @fieldnote_music 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK, thanks. That might be fine then, just read som where that baltic birch plywood has more layers and make the screws bite a bit more...

    Hi. Is that Wurth 'Bond and Seal'?

  • @geraldyhiariej9940
    @geraldyhiariej9940 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Andy... Great video. But I got some questions. So you just glue the battens with adhesive to the floor. No screws? How is it now? Are they strong enough to support the plywood, the bed and the cabinets?

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Geraldy. That bonding glue that I used is really stong stuff, it would take a hammer and chisel to prise the batons back up now. The batons were made from strips of the ply from the floor so plenty strong enough for support.

      NV200 camper What is your bonding-sealant brand? I live in small town so I have to buy it online. Just to make sure I order the right one. Sorry if I'm asking too much.

    How many splinters did you get handling those slats ?, I only have to walk past a sheet of ply and I'm covered in them. 🙌🏼

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha, it wasn't too bad, I only cut them and bonded them in place, no need to handle them too much.
