    In this video I show the full details of how I installed a swivel seat on the passenger side of my Nissan NV200 Combi. The film is quite long but I thought it important to show the trials and tribulations of this task especially as I used a plate intended for a VW T4 which had to be adapted. I bought my plate from Jennings and here is the link to the item: EDIT 16 Feb 2020, the company has updated the website and this looks like the new link to the plate: www.swivel-seats.com/product/...
    Please check with the company before ordering, I am not responsible for any changes in the item.
    I understand that swivel seat plates designed for a Nissan NV200 are available from a company in Germany but they are about 3 times more expensive. (I have no knowledge of the spec on those plates)
    I hope that you find the film informative, feel free to leave comments, suggestions or questions in the comments below.

    Avoided so many mistakes thanks to your video. Over here in The Netherlands you can actually get a FASP Universal swivel seat, and it was about 25% cheaper than the VWT4 seat. Took my chances and it worked just fine! Thanks again, I finished right in time for Easter weekend.

      @@lukehealy95 Yeah, sure, I have this one, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume you are British, and therefore need the opposite swivel seat of mine. So I am linking to the driver seat (bestuurder), as you will need a seat that swivels clockwise. I only did the passenger seat (swivels counterclockwise), as the hand brake is obstructing and I am planning the kitchen area right behind the driver seat. There are about 4 more suppliers here in Holland. www.camperstoel.nl/draaiplateau-camperstoel/109-universeel-draaiplateau

    This is a golden nugget of technical information and very interesting to see. You took it all in stride; I know plenty of people who would let themselves get in a huff. Those TH-camrs aren't as fun to watch =D
    This van is so inexpensive I bet I can make a lightweight build to be within the load capacity limit, even with batteries and 25+ of water and grey water. I see many very expensive components where hundreds can be saved with craftiness and frugality. It would be very interesting to build up such a van, but it's far int he future for me at the earliest.
    However, I don't see it doable with 2 people, at least for anything longer than a few days with another person. It would be one heck of an achievement to get two Murphy beds plus everything 2 people need in a van. I think the driver seat would have to be a swivel, too, and a moveable table could be put in between both for dinner and office-type work on a laptop.
    Best wishes

    I just installed the Zooom swivel seat, they work also with middle console, thats the big advantage (the seats gets elevated, before you turn them). So for me it was worth the extra money ;) Oh well by the way the 4 nuts in the back which are so hard to reach... you can just go straight trough from the top by pushing the padding a little bit to the side, this way you wont need such a special bended spanner.

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment. I think there are several different versions on the middle console, mine was quite low ( as can be seen in the film) and the plate I fitted meant the seat turned without issue. However, the zoom seat would have been needed if the drivers seat was to be turned as I think the handbrake gets in the way. As you can see from the film I show the full trial and error and at about the 26min mark I show that we did indeed use a long socket past the side of the saet padding to reach those nuts.

    I believe swivel plate mistake came from the fact it was not mentioned this is a RHD van.
    As LHD is 95% of world market, default passenger side is on the right side of the van.
    But strange those plates tur only in one direction...

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi MG, thanks for the comment. I haven't converted the drivers seat and fitting a lock on the swivel on that seat is not something that I have had to consider, in fact I cant recall anyone mentioning the idea before. I would imagine that it would be relatively simple to make some sort of bolt with a lock on it to prevent the seat being turned around into the correct driving position.

    Great set of videos you have on your nv200. I’m currently looking into converting an e-nv200, your car’s electric sibling. I’m thinking of having two swivelling seats. Moving the handbrake to a foot pedal, do you think the back of the seat will clear the steering wheel?

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank youfor watching and commenting Christian. Good luck with the conversion. Intersting idea about moving the handbrake. I cant see any real problem with converting the drivers seat to swivel, you may have to adjust the seat back into a forward leaning position to clear the steering wheel but I dont see that as a big issue. The only thing that I would personally have against it is that when the seat is turned round you need floor space to put your feet, that would mean losing some cupboard/storage area.
