    Insulating a campervan is very important, especailly for those cold nights. In this film I show how I added the thermal insulation to my NV200, in part 5b I demonstrate how I added the vapour barrier using a foil layer. (I only broke the insulating down into tow sections so that they were shorter films.) In this film I mention a great video posted on You Tube by Greg Virgoe regarding the science behind insulating campervans, here is the link to his film: • How to Insulate your V...

    Your videos are really helpful. I'm looking at a different design for my conversion but having someone who has methodically recorded every step of the preparation process is fantastically useful. Thank you for doing it!

    Hello Andy, thanks for posting your vids. I am looking at a van shell to fit out. So happy to have found your channel. You will no doubt receive a lot of questions from me. :) great tip about using a torch to examine the cavities. I will remember that one.

    To cut loft insulation I've used garden shears / hand held hedge clippers before. Maybe that would work too.

      That's a good idea, thanks for your input.

    I personally use an old hand saw when cutting insulation, far safer and easier than a Stanley knife

      At 8.35 I do say that I tried various ways to cut that wool type insulation. One of the methods I tried was a saw but the wool just clogged up the teeth and was ineffective at getting a nice clean cut edge. I found the stanley knife gave the best results and yes, it should be used with care but I suppose anyone attempting a conversion like this will be fairly aware of safety measures. later on as you will see I did resort to using a pair of scissors when the wool was thinned out, that was the ideal tool. Thanks for your input.

    Greg Virgo his very good. I am confused to insulation coming from 🇬🇧

      Don't worry, as you may have guessed, I am from GB as well :)

    Hello Andy, thank you for sharing your experience with us!
    One Question I have, I am wondering, if you did not insulate the Front Doors?

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Theo. The panels on the front doors are quite complex and I didnt want to risk causing damage to the nice finish or the fixing clips by trying to prise them off. Besides, the front doors have the mechanics and system for the electric windows so I reckon that area was best left well alone.

    Thanks so much! What size are the bats of mineral wool you bought?

    nice work. For those blocked off sections, is there a reason why you didn't squirt canned expandable foam insulation in those little holes?

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks, I did consider it but the trouble with that stuff is once you have squirted it in you cant easily take it out or use that channel. There may be a time in the future when I need to get to the cables which run along those gaps to the tailgate. (hopefully not) but working through that foam would be a real pain. There would also be little insulation value either by doing so.

    Увлажнять его. Поэтому будет терять утепляющие свойства. По моему лучше утеплить трудные места кусками пенопласта, слегка смочив строительной пеной для фиксации. Удачи!

      Спасибо за ваш комментарий. Влага попадет только в том случае, если нарушена изоляция вокруг изоляции. Вот почему для сохранения герметичности панели используется высококачественная алюминиевая лента. Спасибо, в любом случае.

    Great Vid as usual :)
    What's the thickness of the "wool"? Seems there are different thicknesses on the market and I'm not sure which one will fit best so it's not getting to much compressed when I "gently stick it in there" ;)

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do you mean the insulation wool? It is compressed when it is in the packaging but when you open it out and let it expand it is about 100mm thick, as you see from the film, I actually pulled it apart as two layers (50mm thick each) which allowed me to fill gaps without compressing the wool again. The air in the expanded wool adds to the insulation, compressing it loses some of the benefits. I hope that this is what you meant.

      @@nv200camper4 yeah that was the info i needed. i wasn't sure what thickness would be best. 100, 160, 200mm.... But it's 100mm, ok. thank's a lot for the info.

    How many rolls of insulation did you use ? I ordered two for my nv200. Hoping to have enough!

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used two. But it all depends on what size the rolls that you ordered are. However, its very cheap so its better to order more than you need.

    Just found your videos. These are great so thanks for taking the time to create. What's the van been like warmth wise with that sort of insulation? You still happy with it or would you suggest an alternative. Thanks

    • @nv200camper4
      @nv200camper4  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thnaks for taking the time to comment Glenn, glad you liked them. The insulation has been fine but I think with most vans like this it is good to have some sort of heating to keep the chill off on cold nights.

    Using fibre insulation without PPE. No gloves, glasses or face mask. this is very irresponsible. Other than that nice video! Be careful please.
