Unless there is some sort of backup plan, I think that's the best route. You NEED young Offensive Tackles and you can't depend on a 3rd or a 4th round to get them. They need an early 1st round tackle prospect to keep whatever the QB is under center and upright. Mac will likely be better if he has that. If not, then you can move on. Maybe they can use an early 2nd round pick on a QB that falls.
That 2018 Draft was the worst for the Patriots. Bill passed on Lamar Jackson twice in the 1st Round knowing he was moving on from Tom Brady. Picking at #23 Isaiah Wynn and at #31 Sony Michel over QB Lamar Jackson who was still on the table.
if you could get a pick that high sure. i've seen enough of mac that he needs to go. while the team failed him his play on the field and his dumb turnovers is unacceptable and he doesn't learn from his mistakes. his body language is terrible when things get tough and its time for mac to go.
Mac has more value as a backup QB than a 4th rounder. However you don't want that around the locker room. I'd take a 4th round pick and let both sides have a fresh start.
Trading Kyle Dugger after selecting him at 37th, over JALEN HURTS, is beyond senseless. One of the better safeties in the league, & letting him go for less than what you got him for after already selecting him too high to begin with, over a QB we desperately needed, is an idea that’s just painful to listen to.
Think about that just for minute in a new light. Patriots brought in Cam Newton in 2020, and obviously we all know how that went. But it was immediate that there was no succession plan(or any plan really)in place for post-Brady. The team was already in a rebuild because there was just not enough talent on it on either side of the ball, and they still went 12-4 in 2019 due to the Brady Effect. So they had a once-talented guy in Cam who was known as a mobile QB. The game had been trending that way for years. Mahomes had just won his first Super Bowl. Regardless of what you think about Newton, it may have been a good idea to draft Hurts and have him sit for a year behind him and learn. But really, this is just another example of Bill not adapting to the game as it changes, that's my main point. He built this team as if Brady is walking onto the field every Sunday. Looking back a second round pick seems like a deal, but even at the time I don't see the harm in spending the pick on a guy like that with obvious talent. Bill is a fossil and the game has passed him by unfortunately.
We need another year and a better offense line. A 4th round pick maybe doesn't make the team next year. We have good WRs. When healthy T. Thornton is one of the fastest in the NFL. The two rookie WRs just need this season to learn. The LSU receiver could have been a first round pick, Douglas I suspect will be at least a number 3. Look at the veteran receivers. Apply your own logic and true role. Next year looks solid at the receiving end. The OL needs help the most.
Are you sure you are watching this year's Patriots team? The receivers have the league worst separation, that's a fact. That means these "good" receivers can't get open. How do you define a good receiver if not one who can get open and catch the ball? Parker had one good season in Miami and people thought he was elite. He's mediocre at best and very overrated. Plus, he can't catch. A "good" receiver catches that ball that's dropped right into his hands. I get that drops happen, but this guy isn't making plays. At all. He's averaging 27 yards a game. Their best receiver is averaging 50 a game. Juju is also terrible. Mac is making dumb decisions and the O line isn't playing well, but you can't say this team has good receivers with a straight face. They don't. There is no data anywhere to back that up. There are a few reasons they are averaging 12 points a game, and one one of them is the receiving core.
Omg anything not Mac Jones please 🙏 funny how people in the media "clown Curran "pretend he could be something.we seen Mac even at his best he can't beat a playoff team. U know the clowns in the Boston media I'm talking about.iys about winning Superbowls if u don't hit u don't hit move along
@@AJ........ I wouldn't trade anyone on defense imagine the patriots with a competent quarterback and a healthy defense then find a stand out receiver and a left tackle
Our team is so shit we need more than a qb. Mac or no mac or wrs are slow. They have less than 500 total including te. Our o line is so banged up. Mac can't throw he's given 2 seconds to throw. Our wrs can't get seperation. They slow So lets get a new qb...? We need to draft a tyreek hill , stefon diggs type of player or even gronk. We got none of these high calibur wrs. To even consider goinng qb. We need wr and o line before thinking bout qb this draft. 😂😂😂😂
You know exactly what you get with Mac. While not great, he is OK. Easily worth a 2nd or 3rd. More than half first round qb picks are busts. Mac not great, but not a bust.
Belichick was worth 2 first round draft picks 4 years ago. Now, he might not even worth a 2nd rounder. It's amazing how much contribution Brady had with the Patriots Dynasty. Belichick looks like a lost and confused old man. He is still doing everything the same but is having no effect. Players don't respect him at all. Now they don't even want to be drafted or coached by him. All those years players were on the waiting list to join the Patriots while on a discounted deals are long gone. The only reason they were going was because of Brady and his potential to take them to a SB. All this time, Belichick was just along for the ride. Now the magic carpet is gone, he's showing his true self again, the pre Brady Belichick.
The patriots have always been a poison pill for players since brady left.... what was the average receiving core that got 2 passes per game? He made bad players look good.
Phil’s right. They’re keeping Mac and building around him next year whether Bill is here or not.

Get Mac a WR, DeVonta Smith. Get the O-Line setup, that can actually block. Win the Super Bowl. Go Pats!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 You can give him Randy Moss we would still miss the playoffs. Hes simply not that guy my dude !!
Don't make any moves until you get a new GM. Acquiring and trading players is the job of a GM.

Why would players care when they know the owner doesn't care enough to spend for a decent roster?
Imagine having Tom Brady as your quarterback and wanting to get rid of him. That is Belichick.
No that's RKK's call
The good players we draft we always let go

He failed the team

Yes. And it will be good for him too as welll. He will have a better shot elsewhere.
Given the Pats' lack of success drafting in the 4th round, I think that Mac would be more valuable even as a backup.
No, BB would use the fourth rounder on a ball boy
Do you think we could get that much?
I’d trade Mac jones for a Gatorade and a high 5 lmao

I'd trade Mac Jones for a 6th round pick and a HC

Someone tell Zolak they make this thing called soap...helps with all that itching
I would trade Mac for a bag of peanuts and a soda.
Yes , I will trade him for a five !!!
Agreed but you can get a 4 for him especially from the falcons
Seventh
Maybe trade him and Uche for a smart vet who's good with no turnovers
@@AJ........ I wouldn't trade anyone on defense imagine the patriots with a competent quarterback and a healthy defense then find a stand out receiver and a left tackle
You get the best pic you can for Mac that's it what's the debate
Asif anyone is going to give up a 3th round ick for Jones
The Saints would call them.
Joe Thuney - pay the money or use a ton of draft capital to try to replace him (and Shaq Mason!)
Harbough would be great here
Maybe a 10 round pick
this is a no brainer, TRADE BILL, and sign Jim Harbough. He is the perfect fit and will fix everything
I think maybe they could get a 5th. Maybe not even that.
I would Trade him for a 20th round pic........

Ill take a 6th

I would trade Mac for an eighth round pick.
I would Trade him for a 20th rounder….
Beetle's inability to take emotion out of his analysis renders his takes useless. Maybe he's the one who should be traded/cut/not re-signed.
all of these weird moves and mistakes on and off the field, it makes you wonder if Bill has gone senile
You guys really think that Tannehill or Mayfield will make the Pats better in 2024??
Definitely not
Never
Idk but I will like Kirk cousins tbh
And draft a qb and make him sit behind cousins 😊
4th!? Lolol bruh he a 5th round at least
I’d trade him for one of tom’s old deflated balls😂😂😂
Id trade him for a lunchable next 😂
Just give him away,Just get any high school starting quarterback to take his place
😂😂

It's because... BILL BELICHICK BEAT ON HIM SELF .... ONCE BRADY LEFT
Sorry to say
Bs due date is past
If Duggar walks I'm done with this team
The patriots have always been a poison pill for players since brady left.... what was the average receiving core that got 2 passes per game? He made bad players look good.
ABSOLUTELY NOT 😂
Trade Mac Jones he makes too many mistakes and does not learn from his mistakes. He is not a Franchise quarterback.😊😊
I trade him for a 7 th rounder. He blows. Bill blows. Blow it up
I would give a team a 4th rounder just to take Mac Jones 😂
