@@basdfef4775there is no picking up or not of a 4th year it’s guaranteed money once the player signs his rookie contract. They might as well keep him since whether he’s on the team or traded or cut they still have to pay him the same amount and he still counts against the cap for the same amount.

Mac is not the problem, it's Bill being a dumbass old man stuck in his ways. Look at Miami and Tua. Brian Flores did the same thing Bill is doing, embarrass his QB so he loses confidence. Then McDaniels came in, coached up Tua, and got him some offensive pieces and now Miami is great and Tua is MVP caliber. Mac can definitely look better if he has guys that are open, or a good O-line, or a good run game, or anything at all really.

Don't waste time with Mac. Forget Zappe. Play Malik for several games and see how much he improves, week by week. He's mobile and may be able to avoid the constant rushes. There's nothing to lose. If it doesn't work out, aim for a top draft pick.
Hell NO. Forget Zappe?! Thats just plain stupid and not fair to Zappe he has literally, sat, waited, and showed he can play at a high level. He has absolutely earned the right to be the next man up. He is 2-0 and showed he can be far better than Mac with full practice reps and confidence that he is the starter.
Zappe had our offense humming last season it looked great minus just a couple of quarters in the bears game. So what? 4 good outings and just a couple of bad quarters from the rookie phenom and all of a sudden he is no good?! Bullshit. He outplayed Mac that night too despite his errors.
Malik isnt even a real damn qb lol. I mean, look....Malik is cool and fast and all but, he is not a better qb than Bailey Zappe in no way.
That being said, Malik absolutely does not deserve to leap in front of Zappe just because he can run fast and make people miss in the open field. You dont need all of that from a real qb anyway.
I truly feel like Zappe was Purdy before Purdy and then Belichick brainfarted and gave Mac the wheel again and look what has happened ever since.

Give Zappe a real chance. He is already 2-0 and has great NFL stats when he starts. He needs more reps and gametime not only to knock off the rust but, to continue his development which was looking very nice. Give him full practice reps and confirm with him that he is a starter and just watch him put this debate to bed just like he did last season!!
Bill needs to stop throwing Zappe in the game to take blame and clean up when we are already down 4 tds, the whole team is exhausted, checked out, given up, and on top of all that the whole world knows we are going to pass the ball every damn play!! Not fair! Those are Mac's loses not Zappe's. Its simply not not fair at this point give Zappe a real chance. Thats all I'm saying. We have to let him be the the starter and idk...actually see him lose and play poorly week in and week out before claiming he sucks and is "just a backup" because clearly he is much more than that. Facts are Mac sucks. Also, this is a past due bill with piss poor draft results past few years. Pats haven’t hit in the draft and wasted draft picks while other teams are able to land good talent. That’s actually the root cause of why the talent on the team is non existent.
Mac sucks right now cause this current Patriots team sucks from top to bottom. Tell Bill to get some better pieces and Mac will look better.

Tbh I agree. This season is over. They're going nowhere. Try and get a top 5 pick. Clean house. Get rid of belichick. Bring in some new coaches next year who understand the modern offense in particular (belichick doesn't get it, neither does Obrien). This is something that Boston sports radio has been talking about for a while, and I happen to agree with them : the patriots are still living in 2003. At least from a schematic point of view. They have failed to modernize. They need to napalm their entire football operation and start over from scratch

Who and for what? Judon is the best player on the team and is injured. Even if he was healthy u are likely only getting a 3rd for him at best a 2nd if someone was hella desperate but now u can’t trade him. Dugger maybe u get a 5th or barmore maybe a 6th. Hunter is worth maybe a 4th and the only other decent trade piece is rhamondre who u could get maybe a 3rd but with how he’s playing this season probably a 4th or 5th.
Who do they have worth trading?
Sitting Mac would be doing him a favour, I'm for it. Benching Bill would be doing the Patriots a favour, whatever Kraft decides is fine, it's his money.

Brady was scouted by quarterbacks coach Dick Rehbein, and when the sixth round of the draft came to the Pats, he was the best fit in what was left to pick from at that juncture. Brady was not very muscular, a little flabby, and slow at the combine, but he had one important attribute, intelligence. Rebheim saw this. That is the how and why of him being drafted. If Bledsoe hadn't gone down the way he did, it is quite possible the crown jewel of quarterbacks never would have seen the light of day, and may have ended up on another team, with different coaches, a different offensive system/coordinator, and just not quite fitting like he did with the Pats. We'll never know, but I know that he carried the team for 20 years, and his championship in Tampa Bay proved to me that he was as much a coach as a quarterback, and Bill is proving to me that he is ordinary at best. This is my opinion, derived from my observations, and you are free to disagree, but please don't resort to insulting me. Childish.

Underrated comment right here. If anyone should be taking blame for where the Patriots are right now it's Belichick and how he put this team together. Instead we are blaming Mac for a terrible offensive line, receivers who can't get open, and a non-existent running game. This is not to say there is no blame for him; there is. But if you look at this as a whole, how much better can he perform when everyone around him is underperforming? It's a recipe for disaster.

Tom Landry, the best comparison to Belicheck imo, was 3-13 in his last season, which followed two 7-9 seasons. If things do not get much better this season, this appears to be it for Belicheck.

The Boston region are experiencing what it was like before Brady. We here in the NY/NJ/CT region, always had this - except for The Giants of course!
Let’s also not gloss over that Dallas is being destroyed atm by San Francisco and lost to Arizona. Also the Saints have looked horrible all year but looked like world beaters vs us.
Let Mac play the whole year, we'll be lucky to win 2 more games the way this teams playing.

You guys have got to be high, like come on. That's 5 NO punts and 1 3-and-out that went for a FG because they got the ball in our end off an INT, but that's 6/9 of their drive at that point in the game the defense stopped them.
You have to score points, you have to hold the ball and have longer drives even when you aren't scoring TDs. This offense is doing NOTHING and our defense plays at an above average NFL standard every week.

If he was, the defense would be better, the run game would be better, the QB would be better, the O-line would be better, the coaching staff would be better. We're bad in every aspect of the game right now. Bill hasn't coached an offence since before Brady took over for Drew Bledsoe. He's just a good defense coordinator and even that he's not doing well right now.

@cityofthechamps6242 I'm a lifelong season ticket holder. Been to more than 400 pats games, including all the super bowls. I've watched all the greats live and in-person. I like to think I learned a thing or two in that time and know a little bit more about football than the casual fan. Mac Jones is one of the worst QBs I've ever watched live. He brings no juice or energy to the stadium, no pocket awareness, no leadership, and quite possibly the weakest arm I've ever seen.

Its not like its a suprise to many of us, 30% of the fans saw this coming, but 70% of the fans don't know the game and how poorly the drafting has been over the past decade and was not able to access the talent level of this team or better said the lack their off.

Belichick has to apologize for this season. He put the team together. Worst offensive line. Worst special teams. Bottom five receiving corps. All could have been remedied in the offseason and BB did nothing. 100% on him and that's where the axe should fall.
If he gracefully steps away at the end of the year I will take that as an apology.

Some of the playcall was like we were trying short-circuit the offense.
First drive of the game. Rhamondre 8 yard run on 1st down. Deep ball incomplete on 2nd down. Deep ball incomplete on 3rd down. Punt.
Later in the game with Zappe. 9 yard pass to Gesicki on 2nd down. Deep ball incomplete on 3rd and 1. Rhamondre up the middle for no gain on 4th and 1.

Leaving Mac in there to lose and get lit up is a bad look and bad karma. I agree with Tom that it's time for Zappe. Mac needs a mental break. I'm all for putting Mac back in as soon as Zappe does just as bad, but I worry about Mac's future. His head seems elsewhere right now and I honestly think that if he has any chance of continuing his career, even for another team in the future, they need to give Jones a break so he can find a different perspective.

That game looks like it aged Phil 10 years. I've been screaming Zappe from the rooftops since he put up the most points for us last year. Either tank with Mac or try to go on a run with Zappe. Bit figure it out.

I don't think they believe in the coach anymore and that's depressing...for them and for us.
The sad part is that if Kyle Shanahan had drafted Mac, it would be a different life for Mac. This team is not fixable by TB-12 even. In fact, he saw it coming and bailed. But that is how the league works. Two decades of greatness is not supposed to be possible.
