I love dave! Hes such a cool dude and a wiring wizard. I think him, scotty and Al (turbo yoda) are my favourite guests on this show and love seeing them get involved 😎
Dave is just a great person to have in your inner circle, as are other people that are regulars on MCM. Thing is, it is easy to attract toxic people, but to get kind and smart people to hang around, you need to be kind too. For me, that is what MCM is all about. That and Moog's little piggies.
Dave has always come across as a legendary human - I hope he's been energised by actually reading these comments! Thanks for being so awesome Dave, we all love you!
Dave is soothing like the autumn rain, as trustworthy as a 90's Toyota or a Nokia 3310, Cooler than Ice-T. Dave's the guy you enjoy chugging lemon-squashes with and banter around a BBQ! Dave is an utter legend!
Dave is a very tall substantial human being with an equally large smile...all the good things about Dave is just so much that it could be it's own video.
Kindness is such a bloody amazing show of strength, Also the brothers sharing love is SO BLOODY REFRESHING. Mighty Mods, you're the change we love to see in masculine spaces, Men sharing vulnerability and making safety for our emotions is a cultural shift that helps keep us mentally healthy!
If I didn't know any better, I'd say you guys are preparing for a 24 hours of lemons race like we have here in the States. That car really fits that character. Love it, and have fun.
Yeah, we have various endurance lemon races over here. I'm pretty sure that's where it's going too. Although, I am keen on the theory that was kicked around in comments one of the previous videos, that this is the new Top Gear Australia "star in a reasonably priced car" vehicle!
Man that iPad Mini on that windshield mount takes me back to the days when you retrofitted an iPad yes a whole iPad into the dash of an Outback this episode just feels so nostalgic especially with the Daihatsu
Loved the look of pure joy on Moog's face when Marty said Daihatsu means "break the dyno." I think watching Dave help MCM so much over the years inspired me to say yes when my friend asked me to help him wire an engine swap and interior upgrades. So glad he continues to share knowledge with us DIY crowd
The advice on the suspension and sway bars was 100% solid. I track a small hatch, and the upgrade to the front and rear sway bars, with a slightly bigger increase in the front, was a game changer. The handling is far more neutral, the understeer has been all but eliminated, and engaging lift-off-oversteer is super predictable. The change in my lap times was immediate!
Dave is patient, Dave is kind. Dave does not envy, he does not boast, he is not proud. Dave does not dishonor others, he is not self-seeking, he is not easily angered. Dave does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Dave always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Dave is Awesome. Dave is a legend.
I love that this engine was fully refreshed. I dream of doing this if I had infinite money. Engines no one loves are engines because they were designed to be absolute forever machines. The fact we aren't paying more attention to "boring commuters" is a crime. There's so many thrashable platforms out there and because they don't have internet clout they don't get no love. Well this one got love and I love that.
Thicker oil also requires longer warmups. If you thrash it before the oil softens up, the thick consistency causes more resistance against moving parts, internals can be bent or broken, bearings can run out of flow and lose the pressurized film layer protection they ride on. Still, a slightly thicker oil is always going to protect bearings better against the hard hits they take during wot racing shifts. Can't wait to see what you guys do to this little muppet-soaked nugget!
One of the disadvantages of stacking a bunch of thread adapters on to a temperature sensor is that the value will 'lag' what is actually happening. Keeping the sensor face closest to the flow of the fluid is pretty important.
I have never owned a Daihatsu.... So I can't relate to this build.... but I friggin love it! My first car was a 400 dollar nugget and I loved it with a passion. Throw all the time, money and love you can at it and make it the greatest nugget ever built!
I am thinking you take it to Japan to race against those other small cars you featured a couple of years ago or maybe some endurance racing… 24 Hours of Lemons or something like that.
Im going to start going around door knocking peoples places on sunday mornings with an ipad to see if people have heard the WORD OF DAVE.. Everyone must hear dave talk! Spread the love
Dave is a legend...... But so are you and Marty! You and the guys you get in on the channel are just excellent, and promote this accepting culture of your brilliant channel. Keep up the good work from an original viewer. 💪
We love you guys too for sure. We all just love the content and the pureness for the content. Make us Aussies proud to have you guys represent us down under on the youballs
I love MCM builds like this one, I have one request, please consider doing a mega edit of each big project, so we can binge uninterrupted nugget builds.
I have one with a rebuilt engine 😊 Mechanic did it without consulting the previous owner who was pissed that they didn’t just swap it out. But it was done!
Some say you attract people that live the same vibes you send out. So if you live kindness and cleverness which often imply each other you will attract mostly kind and clever people and it shows in your videos and comments.
Another great build from the guys at Mighty Car mods, taking something very average and turning it into a fun play thing. Only thing I would add is to toss the Castrol and run everything on Motul. I've been involved with motorsport racing of all kinds for close to 22 years and without a shadow of doubt Motul far exceeds anything on the market. I know this because I've been on heaps of seminars for oil companies and nothing compares to their technical knowhow of oils and engines. I've seen them pull oil samples from other manufacturers during races and with their on-site labs the technicians can almost with a 90% success rate predict how many Kms till catastrophic engine failure. I could go on all day of the how and why but I've seen race teams make the transition and especially when competing with high revving 2 strokes etc they just last longer and run better making life a tad bit easier for the mechanics. Also.... Witnessed it first hand when we did our R&D with Ceramic coated pistons. Where our riders would smoulder pistons and goudge tiger claw marks into cylinder lining with Putoline, Havoline, Bellrays etc from abusive testing in the dunes but not with Motul. Where normally we would flip a piston every race or 5 hours and bottom end every 2nd/3rd piston change we now can go upto 30+ hours before we consider doing so with coated pistons and Motul. Which shows me that Jaso and MA2 are just standards, standards don't always produce class leading products and service. We all know this!
I know someone who has a Daihatsu Terrios she has owned since new, well looked after but lots of kms on it and now the rings and valves are tired, she’ll eventually do a rebuild because she loves that car, for now it sits in the Garage until she can afford the rebuild.
The moment you talked about the seat is the moment that convinced me this is becoming an actual race car to take part in an actual series, maybe with Marty behind the wheel while Moog does Top Gear.
Dave is an excellent human. "Kind, clever and other things."
Except he likes Mitsubishis, but we don't worry about that.
@@jordanh.2998Yes but that is a natural consequence of his endless patience and good will, he is the only man fit for the job.
Most Daves are excellent humans........not even biased or anything 😁
Dave is a legend
Need more Dave!
Both Dave and Scotty are LEGENDS!
Rev up your engines!
@@chonglers1513Wrong Scotty.
Dave is so calming to listen, well spoken and and excellent technically.
And kind and clever and other things
He also likes Mitsubishis but we don't worry about that.
Llpppllpp
Unlike someone else who is far from calm to listen to.
“Muppet gooch” should definitely be the name of this Daihatsu build.
I agree!
Absolutely.

That could be a wine by yellow tail and i would buy it. I'm already drinking yellow tail for my aussie boys
Drinking like a lot of it

Dave is so calming and knowledgeable, what a man. Absolute pleasure to listen to

I could just listen to Dave talk for hours. His contributions are priceless to the channel and my level of calm.
He would be a great teacher/instructor for automotive electrical
Dave's kindness is so abundant we can feel it through the interballs
Dave is a LEGEND ❤
Love you Dave! Much respect to you and your skills! Thanks for being part of the show!
Dave has the POWER! We appreciate all his hard work!
Dave and Scotty are both Legends! So generous with their time and knowledge. We Aussies should be super proud of these two guys.
Dave and Tuning fork are legends. I remember meeting him at Autosalon in the early 00’s, was a legend then and still is now.

Yeah that's exactly what I thought on the first episode with it, it definitely has a 24hr lemons vibe to it
Deputy 4 hour series running at Pheasant Wood for this sort of thing. Needs a cage though.
that suspicion just came to me this episode as well
Scrap to Track should be a car TH-camr competition 😊 (yes, i saw that there’s a build series of the same name but it’s been some years)
We got that race in Tassie. Buy a car for 500hundie with receipt and unlimited mods to race it.

Dave is great! The man is dedicated, cool, calm and know what he’s doing :)
I love the way Dave just brings wiring and electronics down to a level where normal people can understand them. Makes things less scary.
Dave is a legend - kind & clever
Oh I once had my own Dave many years ago. His electrical work for me on my cars was awesome. Always appreciate your Dave.

Bloody love Dave. What a great guy! He works absolute magic.
And I love when he loses his shit at Moog’s jokes 😂
this wiring is very easy with Dave, remember and remind us to never stop learn and improving memory
I say it in every video. Isn't Dave a legend? He's always smiling even when you present him with cars he'd probably rather not work on.
Loved the look of pure joy on Moog's face when Marty said Daihatsu means "break the dyno." I think watching Dave help MCM so much over the years inspired me to say yes when my friend asked me to help him wire an engine swap and interior upgrades. Dave is in fact a legend.

You guys could have a luxury spin-off brand, called Gööchi, and specialise in furry handbags and questionably-scented candles.
