Hey Guys I really hope that this post gets noticed on the grounds of an Urgent FYI engine issue at 20.05. The aftermarket oil sump and oil pick up tube kit you've purchased has a serious issue with the pick tube! Recently we've had two customers with oil starvation issues with this kit (or a very similar looking version if not exact), and in one of two cases it has resulted in severe engine damage. The pick up tubes vibrate with with the usual RB engine harmonics and snap of at the lower welded seam at the two bolt flange. We can Highly suggest tig welding a support leg bracket as per the factory part to help with this before it's too late. Hopefully this gets a view. Cheers for the amazing work MCM!

Al is spot on (as usual) - I have an Aussie-delivered 240Z with an L28 turbo. But if I was building the same car today, that would not be my choice of powerplant. It's just getting too rare and disproportionately expensive to gather all the bits to make a good one - and that's on top of the car itself being 50 years old!

Turbo Yoda, Encyclopedia of knowledge he is, good to see Al back with the boys, I am dying to see the reuse of the ITB'S once again and how they will be controlled with the DBW throttle pedal and motors , next episode will be epic, a friend of mine just got a new turbo for his Volvo 850 wagon and his mechanic said it was easier to install than the original , the new one could be clocked and was all V-bands, slightly smaller, spools up much faster and the torque curve was linear and covered about 400 more RPMS and also had better cooling built in than the original one and could produce another 15 pounds of boost, the mechanic said that is allot, driving the car now for about 2 months he said the horsepower it has feels like its twice as usable as the old one and even gets 1 1/2 better MPG when his foot isn't on the floor 😂

I was also expecting a V-Cam, but that's not a cheap option, and i don't think is that worth it for a car that won't push more than 400hp, i think some custom simple cams would've been better.
No need for a v cam set up on a build like this. Cost to benefit just isn't there, an adjustable cam gear can get the power where they want it and it will still be drivable.

Apparently the best thing was to design a sump with equal oil channels by volume between the baffles which pointed at the pickup. They did this for the B5254T4 engine which is in the Volvo S60R/V70R.
Other than a dry sump apparently it works quite well.
Damn, I'm a huge fan of Volvo and specifically the v70r/s60r. I didn't even know that did that with the sump
I was also expecting a V-Cam, but that's not a cheap option, and i don't think is that worth it for a car that won't push more than 400hp, i think some custom simple cams would've been better.
V cam is not cheap at all. Would be worth it if there wasn't a budget
@joealex65 it was about 520hp at the engine before so there probably going to end up with just over 550hp with a better powerband
No need for a v cam set up on a build like this. Cost to benefit just isn't there, an adjustable cam gear can get the power where they want it and it will still be drivable.
This is epic guys seriously so happy to see 6 years go by ! And now my favorite MCM car gets another spot in the limelight for more epicness it's awesome watching and I keep getting flashbacks from the original build it was great to watch keep it up.
