Texas, animals, collegiate, and other themes are here for the choosing. Wait until you see the Melissa and Doug reindeer that finds its way into my shopping cart. He is now a holiday favorite greeting guests at my door. Brass candleholders shine on your seasonal table. Ruby cut-to-clear glass is a sweet surprise. I'm so glad you purchased the brass deer bookends. If I could have picked only one thing out of the entire store to buy, that would have been it!
I styled them on my entry table with beaded garlands from the Charity Guild Shop holiday table.
My mother in law always used her punch bowl and cups to serve fruit salad while everyone was gathering before a formal dinner.

UHHH! The only bad thing about moving to Louisiana is being farther away from Houston. These are such awesome items and great prices. ALL the Holly pieces. And the TN and LSU stuff! My mom went to Tennessee as well. Dad was a huge LSU fan. Next time I get over there and have time I'm planning a thrifting day in H town!

Wow! You really found a lot of great treasures to bring home. I loved the fabric Christmas tree that our mothers made back in the 70's. No, we aren't surprised you picked up the chinoiserie plate - it's got your name on it and can't wait to see how you display it. I've never seen a carnival glass punch bowl set - it was beautiful. Also, I thought the apple canister set was darling.

Seems to be my theme this year. Brought back a tapestry deer runner from Germany and placed with the brass bookends on my entry table.

So many nice items! I laughed when I saw the deer with the scarf that you bought because I really wanted that Snoopy, lol.
I went through our Christmas decorations a few years ago. I kept the family heirlooms and a few decorations that I really liked. Now I buy one or two decorations at the thrift store and come home and “shop” my tote. It’s a fun way to celebrate our family traditions with a different look every year.
I finally got to watch it! You never disappoint! I laughed over that stuffed tree, I used to make them and sell them. Wish I was there at this time of year. Merry Christmas to you and your Family!

That deer is everything!! Would have had to come home with me!! Several years ago found the Tiffany & Co. frosted bow glass trinket box for $2.99 - similar to the one you found with red bow. A friend has misplaced her keys several times recently so, for Christmas this year, have bought her a long bright and blingy key chain and put it inside the Tiffany & Co. box. Think she’ll probably like the box more than the key chain - not often you can say that the packaging is better than the gift!!

The $10 Nora Fleming 3-part dish? The hole in the corner is for a decorative "mini" that fits inside.
Any thoughts on how to:
a. remove black sharpie from the bottom of ceramics and
b. Remove the black/ground in dirt from the base of mugs and other ceramics?
I’ve tried Comet cleanser, steel wool, nail polish remover, Barkeepers Friend, etc and haven’t figured it out on some items yet.
Have you tried rubbing alcohol? Try a mixture of toothpaste and baking soda.
There are so many great things to decorate with at this resale store. I would go crazy with all the blue and white and that plate is so pretty. Thank you for taking us along with you to see all the many items this store has to offer. 😊

Hi Mary Beth. We had so much fun shopping Houston Thrift stores during special Christmas sales last year that we hope to come back again this year (2024). Is there a place on line to check dates of these sales so we can plan a trip accordingly?
Many of the resale shops have had their holiday launch. They replenish daily, so anytime is good to visit. The sooner the better is my suggestion. It's a winter wonderland in all the antique, consignment, and thrift stores.
