He has a lovely warmth to his voice and there's a pleasant balance in his sound that I really enjoy!

Excellent tenor, you need to hear him live though. Enormous projection and clarity and a very nice timbre. Hard to catch on audio. Heard him in Vienna as Rodolfo recently in La Bohème, he was the best one I‘ve heard in many years!

He is awesome. And this production is much better than the vegas production. So much better. Well done on the voice and production.

Bravo for his voice. Can someone at the MET get him an acting coach? So much voice and yet doesn’t say or make me feel anything.

Incredible! One of the best tenors of our times!

Well, this is modern singing and people seem to be happy with that. I am not so much.

I saw this production live just a few weeks ago. He’s definitely not a good fit for the role. His singing is almost unbearably French: far too nasal, with a languid quality. At the end of his big Act 2 number, “Possente Amor,” - normally a show-stopper for the right tenor - the audience didn’t even so much as clap (and it’s the end of the scene, no less).

@@seanclark3147 So true. He has nothing to do with Verdi and, as a tenor, leaves much to be desired. Nasal, flat, no chest voice albeit a beautiful one.

I'm sorry, but he just seems to be bored with the music and the role, I am falling asleep 😴

From this video alone, I don’t get all the buzz about him. He sounds fine, a better than average lyric “house” tenor, but no where in the same league with, say, Beczala or, from the past, Pavarotti or Bergonzi (not even close). From an acting standpoint, there were better actors from the days when opera singers weren’t expected to be decent actors. But I do look forward to hearing him at the Met in person and hope he’s as spectacular as the hype.

He is. Just saw him in Romeo et Juliette. He already took Europe by storm. He won 2020 Europe Opera Award for Best Male Singer. He has a beautiful voice and his high notes are solid and thrilling. He sang with Finley in a concert conducted by Pappano in 2019 & 2021. His debut at the MET was delayed by two seasons due to COVID. We are lucky to have new and young talented singers like Bernheim and Oropesa. I look forward to see them more at the MET or elsewhere.

Best thing Benjamin has done! He lost his focus on the last high note and got too back in his throat instead of spinning in the mask and above his head, but other than that, pretty darn good.

Shame on the make-up and hair styling dept. at the Met for not giving him an image to match the seductiveness of his voice. I liked the old "Las Vegas" Rigoletto better.

He kinda is off tone to be honest with the wobbles but he's still alright.. idk why but he sounds like what Piotr Beczala sings like

The voice, per se, is a fine one IMO. But I have seldom been so bored with an artist. No passion, no swagger, no joy … just a stick figure regurgitating words and notes. Does he even know the meaning of the words he is singing? I suppose the stiffness could be “debut nerves” … but that really doesn’t explain the utter lack of feeling in the performance. A shame, really, because it’s a nice sound …

I’m losing hope in big opera houses. How can one cast a half amateur musical singer. This is opera - not a play yard. I want to hear power n the voice and passion for music. He got just love for his own manners. So sad…

The voice is forced. I would not rank him with any of the former tenors of the Met.
