Hey, I just saw this video, but it's a bit too late since we just got back from Prague three days ago. I can't thank you enough for your videos. This made our first trip to a big city with kids (8 & 4y.o) a whole lot easier. Lasagneria is awesome... food, great lemonade for kids, solid craft beer, place not crowded... 10/10
Next to the hotel i stayed at in Prague, was an indian restaurant which i also recommend! (Golden Tikka, Konviktská 1055, 110 00 Staré Město, Prague) And if you want to eat affordable chinese food, i recommend Pivoňkové zátiší, Skořepka 421, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia And a really awesome bar/bistro was Sad Mans Tongue!
+1 for Shahi Indian ! Really cosy restaurant and the owner is super sweet. Food is amazingly flavorful and appropriately spiced (if you're an Indian, you can ask the owner to make it "Indian" spicy and he'll gladly do that). Would recommend the vegetable samosa, the chicken biryani and the karhai chicken/paneer
I was in Prague in January and hit up the Wokin you were at in this video. It's good stuff and much needed on a cold day. Your recs were invaluable. Great vid about quite a diversity of restaurants! I pinned each in my gmaps, and noted the photo of you two from March when you were making this segment (unless you always wear the same clothes and order the same meals).
Very glad to have come across your channel. So few people put out useful and meaningful content these days. Thank you very much for watching out for us travellers. I always wanted to visit Lasagneria. Because yet I've never eaten a good lasagne in Czech Restaurants yet. I had a couple and always got disappointed. And I really hope Lasagneria will break this curse.
I am arriving tomorrow evening for the first time. I've watched your videos for weeks now and love them. Cant wait to visit and try out your recommendations. Oh BTW, a Vindaloo is like a Korma compared to that Phall listed below it lol.
I lived in Prague (Vinohrady) right around the corner from Las Adelitas and remember when they opened (2010 or 2009),, was so happy to have a Mexican restaurant a very short walk from my apartment and went there often!
My favorite Italian restaurant in Prague is called "Nominanza". Excellent food and service, and very reasonable prices. Go to tram stop Olšanské náměstí in the Žižkov area, and walk up the entrance to the Hotel Olšanka Congress Center complex. Nominanza is immediately to your left. You’ll find U Mariánského Obrazu restaurant and bar on the opposite corner of Fibichova. Wonderful Czech food at surprisingly low prices! Mostly locals there, and a few tourists who know where to go.
We went to Cobolis just above the Ladvi Metro station many years ago on our visit to Prague. I wish I could eat that Goulash with potato dumplings again 😀
Years ago I went to a restaurant in Prague on the 2nd floor of a square. The restaurant was also part of a very expensive foodwares store. It was where all the politicians and bigwigs went, and super-expensive. So, I went at lunch. Saved a lot of money and had one of the most memorable meals of my life. They brought put a huge white truffle, weighed it with white-gloved hands, and then shaved it into the soup until I said to stop. Then they weighed it again, and on my bill the soup was charged by truffle weight. I have no idea what truffle weighs… It was one of those ‘if you had to ask, you couldn’t afford it’ kind of splurges, so I indulged a little. 😊 Definitely worth the stupendous price. Wish I could remember the name of the place.
about the Indian food, i think the main reason why vindaloo hurts and ppl need to be warned is cos its actually Indian meal, a recipe from the OG India( there may be some other influences, obviously, colonisation and trade happens), and chicken tikka masala is safe and fave among Europeans cos is genuine British meal, first cooked in postwar UK, not in colonial India, but created not so long ago by Indian immigrants to suit tastes of their British customers. Chicken tikka masala is just as traditionally Indian as trdelnik or medovnik are traditionally Czech just FYI.
There's also another Lasagneria branch in Holesovice, Prague 7 close to Delnicka tram stop. I personally haven't been inside, but I think it should be similar to the one in Vinohrady.
I really recommend las Adelitas. They are actually mexican and they all speak spanish even the non native speakers are able to take orders in spanish. Highly recommended, I go there all the time with my guy.
Jídlovice looks great! It is close where I spent many holidays as a child at my grandparents living at the corner of V.P. Čkalova and Dejvická. In fact their ashes remain in de columbarium of the chruch right at the start of the video (hard to recognize as a church). In May we stay a long weekend just around the corner so we will certainly have a lunch over there. Thank you so much for this advice.
Janek regarding your spiciness warning for the Indian vindaloo dishes, I must say that Vindaloo is just a junior compared to Phall, which is on a much higher spiciness level. And Phall was also available on the same menu of Shahi Indian restaurant which you've shown on this video. Personally I ate Vindaloo hundreds of times all over the world and it has just the right heat level for me :)
Hello Janek, it's a pleasure to talk to you! My name is William and I'm from Costa Rica, Central America. I will be visiting your city next week on Monday, the 22nd, but only for a few hours. I will arrive at night after 9pm and leave at 1am due to my budget constraints. I would appreciate any recommendations you may have for things to do during my short stay. Thank you very much!
Being a big fan of Prague I love your videos, especially the food videos. When I'm in Prague I always eat Czech food, but next time I really want to check the Lasagna place and the Indian place.
Great list that I will share with family when they arrive in June! I would like to add a great place if you like schnitzel or řizek in Czech: Řizek od Babičky in Karlin on Karlinske Namesti between Sokolovska and Křižikova. Homemade schnitzel and fresh potato salad. They have pork, chicken, turkey, and veal schnitzel as well as smaženy syr (fried cheese) all for between 4.70 - 6.28 euros and the potato salad is only .79 euros. It's a very small place, only seating about 8 - 12 people at 3 tables, and they're only open from 10 am - 4 pm M-th (2pm on Fridays). So expect to get the food as take-away. But, be aware, I don't remember if they take credit cards, and they don't speak English so be prepared to use Google Translate.
What did you eat at the Mexican restaurant? It looked like Chicken Mole. I also was curious about the prices. You only mentioned one at the first one. Love your videos. Look forward to them every week. ❤😊
After being in Cz several times and seeing almost all of your vids (and subscribing on 2nd account too), I always wonder how is Czech Republic so similar to Estonia in so many ways, yet with completely different history, language and everything. The people, their mindset and the "day to day" life as well. Even though you're slavic and we're just mutts.
I can definitely relate to the Vindaloo 🤣 had it only once in my life... had to wait for the food to cool down and then I ate it as fast as possible to reduce the amount of suffering😵
We actually ate at Nepali restaurant in Olomouc, based on your recommendations and it was awesome! Looking forward to check out the best Indian place in Prague! ❤❤❤
Please mention that Jidlovice is a kind of Jidelna or Tacek Restaurant. Meaning you take a tablet and order on a counter. But i ageee its good. 👍 If you are Stammgast in your original italian Restaurant at the Corner, you would not so surprised by Lasagneria. In the end another german word in czech... štamgast (cz)= Stammgast (dt). Štamgast/ Stammgast i a kind of a regular guest, that comes often to the same place. Esp in Bavaria Stammgast have their own Beer Mug . 👍
I'm sure those food places are fine for locals, but they are of little interest for tourists, unless they are staying for a very long time. People can get better Italian, Chinese and Indian food in almost any other city, and if they are coming to Prague, they should be trying Czech food. The cafeteria might work for young tourists, however.
It’s kinda funny after watching these videos for a year and then watching the release of a new video while in Prague. Thanks for the recommendations guys, we love it here
I was in Prague 2 weeks ago and used your Patreon map to find really, really good restaurants and hidden spots. Thank you! I can't wait to come back to Prague. Absolutely gorgeous country and people.
The pind is also a great Indian restaurant. I used to go there all the time when wanting Indian food. It's in Korunni, Vinohrady. Their Butter chicken is fantastic. But also, don't fall into the trap of ordering the same thing every time. Indian food is very diverse, and lots of great dishes to choose from.
The Pind is OK. It's improved. And I eat there a lot. They tend to do their own reviews though which is possibly (not necessarily) this comment - so to see it here may be ironic. I'm interested in Shahi as my spice level is WAY above yours and they have a Phall on the menu. The Pind don't.
@@fingersfinesilveroh you love spicy food, great, don’t bother doing to an “Indian” restaurant, you should just eat some scorpion chillis and stay at home. Maybe you can take some videos and show the world how masculine you are too
Vindaloo being too spicy does throw up a question though: Is it too spicy because you never eat spicy stuff or is it too spicy even for a chili-lover? I ask because Indian restaurants have a big range and sometimes the 3-chili recipes still aren't that spicy because they think no European can take it, while others will blast you like it's mixed with Ghost Peppers
@akshatshah1598 I mean it was created and popularised by indian chefs who had moved to the uk in the 1960's. So as much as the British Museum may contain lots of items gained through dubious means. The humble tikka masala isn't one of them!
Chicken Vindaloo is very good, but as all South- or Southeastasian food offered in Europe it is not really hot, changed to European taste. Come to Thailand, and get real spicy food. But another awesome video making me want to visit Prague!
I have been to Las Adelitas (Americka);only once. Couldn't try neither the food nor the beverages because I couldn't order anything. Maybe the staff was already done with this business day, Idk. Was very disappointing, though.
My favourite is still The Eatery, has also a Bib Gourmand in the Guide Michelin and awesome prices for the quality and experience (especially at the chefs table) you get. For indian food Indian by Nature is also a save choice. It was the favourite indian restaurant from a indian girl I meet in Prague :D so she should know where you get some good indian food. Also Eska, is a nice choice for lunch and they have amazin bread.
@@max2themax The Eatery is always crowded also for lunch but yes it's maybe more for a special lunch :D but Eska is fine for lunch if you have only one dish. But I see it from the German side :D live in Dresden. Here we don't have that many options on that level like these two ones, that's the reason I always go there when I'm in Prague. And when I would have to much money I would go for lunch to the Degustation 😂
I'm glad to see a Mexican restaurant as one of the best in Prague 🎉 I went there last year and I had an awesome 👌🏼 burrito at Burrito 🌯 Loco 😊it was great!
I fry up pineapple into satay stir frys too :) The curry looks good, I love a vindaloo, and of course as mentioned the Scottish chicken tikka masala xD
Thank you for including Shahi Indian, I'm travelling to Prague shortly and I wanted to include some Halal restaurants on the itinerary. When I travel I try to balance local and foreign cuisines. Bit harder these days with dietary restrictions but my rule of thumb is good food, is good food no matter where you are! I wouldn't say no to amazing Thai or Indian food back home but I would love to try local dishes as well when I can.
Tikka masala isnt actually indian it was created in scotland 😎 apparently someone complained that their curry wasnt saucey enough and the chef put tomato soup in it 😂 i do love tikka masala though. Next time ask for some garlic and a little bit of spice, almost madras hot 😊 trust me. The sweetness, the garlic and the spice make it AMAZING.
We are visiting Prague first week in August and as an avid subscriber to your vlogs we would love to meet up with you and have a beer and possibly some food. Let me know if you’d like to meet up. Graham
Diky moc! I will try Jidlovice and Lasagneria! My only problem with Las Adelitas that they did not had really spicy sauce and food. At least on my last visit. :D Due to your recommendations I have tried so many good places. Let me share some too: one of my favourite place is Be Silly, they have the best waffle in town so far I tried, good beers, and even pulled pork garlic waffle and great ribs too! For ramen sadly my fav place closed but OMG is my new fav for it, its great! There are so many great food places in Prague! I love it here! (Just please stop putting ketchup on langos.) :D

Trying Wokin as I type, largely out of fear of more knedlik and because I can dial up the veggies. So far I would say it’s fresh and tasty.

Yeah we know “Indian food”. Mix everything add odd spices…
@@fingersfinesilveroh you love spicy food, great, don’t bother doing to an “Indian” restaurant, you should just eat some scorpion chillis and stay at home. Maybe you can take some videos and show the world how masculine you are too
I usually go to food Boulevard when im in Prague, you have most types of food.
loved this video. hope I can visit Prague one day, awesome city with awesome ppl!
I refer to this youtube channel when writing blog posts :D
Matoka at Žižkov! Mindblowingly delicious Georgian cuisine, and also very high rating 👌
Ach áno, to ich chačapuri zbožňujem! Dosť sa čudujem, že sa v Honest Guide ešte neobjavilo.
po zhliadnuti mam chut sa vybrat do Prahy ! Super :)
It's a Czech thing. To get proper spicy here you have to ask specifically.
Wishing everyone and Honest Guide good luck
@honest guide Close to the Lasagneria is a Restaurant called "Vinohradský Parlament". Was there in my last Vacation, fantastic food and cheap :D
Very weird to see the british national dish (chicken tikka masala) in an honest guide video about best food in prague!
They should keep this dish in their museum along with many other stolen things that they proclaim their own!!!
@akshatshah1598 I mean it was created and popularised by indian chefs who had moved to the uk in the 1960's. So as much as the British Museum may contain lots of items gained through dubious means. The humble tikka masala isn't one of them!
They had it at Taj Mahal in the 90s, just north of Wenceslas square
@@akshatshah1598Nobody believes Tikka Masala is British, you can rest assured.
@@needfoolthings You are correct. It's Scottish :)
I wish I splurged on your videos first before coming to Prague few years ago
Chicken Tikka Masala isn't actually Indian, it came from the UK as an easy to handle curry for western pallets.
Obviously I’m saving this video. Thank you, Janek and team!
Best Svíčková is in Kyvadlo, V Jámě 5
Eska for Lunch? The eatery? You must make a lot of money.
@@Krabspinne Oh, German salary... makes sense. It's not like crazy expensive but a normal person wouldn't go for a daily lunch at Eska 😅
I lovvveeee these types of videos! TY, honest guides team!
I've picked up wokin on the way to the airport... they need to expand to the US!
Good to see you liking Glaswegian food 😋
(possibly, unconfirmed 🙂)
Much like Memento which is my favourite movie, Honest Guide is not presented chronologically. The mark of true greatness.
Regarding Mexican restaurants, I have to recommend my favourite, also in Vinohrady, Little México. Wonderful place!
I'm glad to see a Mexican restaurant as one of the best in Prague 🎉 I went there last year and I had an awesome 👌🏼 burrito at Burrito 🌯 Loco 😊it was great!
🤦♂️Burrito Loco? 🤦♂️
Czech Slovak is also great! :) One of my favorites when I still used to eat meat.
Your video makes me want to come to Prague❤
Love food recommendations too
Adding to the list(s) I have for your delightful city!!
I fry up pineapple into satay stir frys too :)
The curry looks good, I love a vindaloo, and of course as mentioned the Scottish chicken tikka masala xD
Didn't know Bradford was in Scotland
will you ever do series about low budget hostels?
I prefer you to feel this type of video as well.
Here in Kansas City we have a bakery that makes Povitica, oh man so good. Is this type of bread served in Prague?
Due to your recommendations I have tried so many good places.
