Hammond's comments on Ecto-1 was perfect, even Dan Aykroyd himself admitted that it was a massive, goofy clown car with handling comparable to that of a boat, and that's why people loved it so much.

1:57 To be all James May about it: Bond first drove a Bentley Blower in the books, but as time went on the car needed an update. A letter from (I think) some posh professor to Fleming motivated the change to the Aston Martin DB3 by suggesting Fleming "have the decency to fix him up with a decent bit of machinery."
Ironically, this bit of information comes from Top Gear's 50 Years of James Bond Cars special, presented by Hammond himself. He probably remembered the first half.
Great special if you ever come across it.

@Yvolve Thanks for bringing up the DB3 for me. The moment he asked Richard if he’d ever driven a DB5 I thought what a stupid question it was given the Bond car mini-doc Richard hosted which featured him driving each car as he talked about them.

Bond did drive an Aston Martin in Goldfinger (it was a company car), but that was a one-off. In the next novel (Thunderball) he was back in a Bentley.

I love how much Richard adores the Bullitt Mustang! I also think its perfect car casting all round - not only is Steve McQueen in an effortlessly cool badass Mustang, but the villains hes chasing are in a stealth black Dodge Charger - SPOT ON. As great a hero car as the Mustang was, the Charger was an equally great 'villain car' as it were 😅🥰

He's not wrong about the DB5, the difference between the DB4 GT and that was that they enlarged the wheelbase by 2 inches and added about 200 pounds, and it didnt have as much power and grunt as the earlier ones, plus the one in the movie, had issues given it was a works prototype that was originally red and showed up on the Saint
as BMT 216A was actually its serial, and its registration with the factory when they sent it out for work, a thing they did back then
and some of that even shows up in the film, as the very early DB5's had 4 speeds, others 5, and that shows up in the movie
to say nothing of the weight that added ontop of everything else with the gadgets that were done by what looks to be ex Royal Airforce people, but even then its still a cracking car though, and its WO bentley Derrived motor, with the thunderbird back end to it, that bond had on his car in the books just fit him to a tee
as Ian Flemming was quite fond of the Ford Thunderbird, so he had bond in the books get a custom one based off of a real one, the bentley that is
plus lets be honest, 60's reliability and build quality, theirs gonna be good and bad ones, especially given David Brown was loosing over 500 pounds on each car, like 5 grand then.

@@TheHookOfficial thank you and I read the books myself before casino royale came out to see how they were like, plus I always wondered why the car just seemed right for the character, as the characters tastes are as much a reflection of the authors as much as anything else
and WO bentley was an engineering hero in his own right, so its kinda funny to think that basically his motor made the basis of the DB series of cars that then became world famous through this

When I was younger, I bought a recently imported black Ford AU Falcon XB coupe and drove it around central Colorado. It was fun when people realized what it was, and the right hand drive threw people for a loop. Too bad it cost a fortune to keep running and I ended up having to sell it. Was it fun? Hell yes, a 351 Cleveland under the hood, it was fun. Richard might want to check out the original Mad Max, when the car still had its Monza-style front end and air dam attached. It looked better.

Adam West was the Comedy behind Batman and remember watching the episodes as a kid even though they were a little before my time. However, Keaton was the best Batman in my opinion. He had the coolest looking Batman Car as well as the awesome Batwing. Nicholson also played a really awesome Joker. So Tim Burton got the movies right giving them more of that comic book vibe while still keeping them serious.

The guy (assuming he’s not specifically reading some script) says the franchise as I posit, and the editor goes and seeks out footage of the car probably realizing out of everything the sequel gave the best shots, and a producer tagged the first movie not getting what they were going for, all being married together without oversight. I agree, got my picture taken next to Ecto 1, when I attended Ghostbusters: Fan Fest in Los Angelas in June 2019. Plus, I own several of the toy versions produced over the years.

When doing these, I don't usually care that much on video quality, but could you at least send Hammond a decent camera? Doesn't have to be huge, just a good webcam.
    This one is horrendous.
