As a fan from the US, Top Gear and the Grand Tour both have a special place in my heart and memories. Last year my good friend that introduced me to all this great shows passed on . Everytime I watch these shows I think about all the great times we had together and everything we did with cars. It was always awesome to know that there would be another great episode to watch and genuinely enjoy with great friends. I will keep watching until the end. Thank you 🙏
I class these shows as a "forever show" ive lost count on how many times ive rewatched them
Sorry about your loss my friend. I’m from Boston Massachusetts and it’s had the exact same impact on my life. I’m almost 40 and Richard, James and Jeremy together, top gear and Grand tour have filled a huge space in my life in that time. I still watch nightly, from season 1 on.. not only do I appreciate the show but the fence across the world that I’ve had the same experience growing up as I have. Thank you for sharing your story! Wish you well.
Felt like a nobhead crying at Rick and morty last night mate and I’ve only just woke up and u made me cry again wtf lol 😢
I have followed these men for years and years. and years. NO ONE can reproduce the chemistry they offer. To this day, I laugh until I cry. Each one offer their own talents, but together they’re simply unstoppable.🙏🏻😂
Final episode - three old guys sitting on the porch of the farm drinking, reminiscing, telling stories & showing clips. as the sun finally sets
and thats where the “where real men cry” meme comes into play
Tens of millions would watch it. I know I would.
Last Ever Final Episode: three old guys, drinking, reminiscing telling stories & showing clips, sitting on a specially adapted rickerty porch, complete with bar but mounted on a monster sized Lamborghini Murcielago as it takes forever completing a world tour as they roll out the banter, struggle to remain seated n spill beer on every corner and pothole. Laughing all the way. Quite possibly the best tv programme…………….in the w o r l d !!!
the sun set years ago on tgt honestly
And then a caravan explodes 💥
former top gear presenter chris evans talks to former top gear presenter richard hammond, what a world
One of the originals (of the "New Top Gear") being interviewed by the absolute destruction of what we knew and loved.
@@85priesty i think clarksons fist did that
Only one of them did it well.
The other was just a shambles.
Former radio DJ Richard Hammond talks to current radio DJ Chris Evans
One of them helped make Top Gear - it took years, the other destroyed it - it took weeks...
Original Top Gear was and still is the only Top Gear I'll ever watch.
I still watch all the reruns and still derive a lot of joy from watching these three. There will never be another trio that can match what Clarkson, May and Hammond achieved.
Please reboot BBC Top Gear and put these guys back in !!
1977 Top Gear isn’t much to write home about
@@carlsanders1320 I was talking about the Era when it was Clarkson, Hammond and May. The previous Top Gear was ok but not in the same league
@@tonymontana897 The Grand Tour isn't bad at all. It has all the vibes from the TG adventure episodes. I never cared much about them testing mega cars that 0.001% of us will ever be able to buy.
@@azynkron I love the Grand Tour also. My point was to highlight that any show the the boys were in was amazing and entertaining. They are what make any show. Perfect chemistry.
I hope they never stop making these! They are heroes! And basically fathered a whole generation of car enthusiasts (me included)! When they stop, it'll be like losing your best friends! Heartbraking... I wish they could keep going forever!
They won’t
they are only doing one more grand tour
Nah they deffo need to stop, every episode is getting worse and worse
@@nodafy Really? I think new special is quite good, It has basically everything that special needs. I also enjoyed Scandi Flick.
I feel very lucky. I have a real best friend and I can cope with a good TV show ending😊
The snowmobile coming across the frame into the truck was insanely funny. I just pictured that thing hauling across the desert lol.
Because you 3 presenters mean the world to us!
Them 3 on top gear saved my life actually saved me from suicide when I lost my business wife kids etc. now I can’t sleep without either top gear or the grand tour on at night weird but true have done this since 2012 every night like meditation works for me
Praying for you bro, have yourself a good Easter 🙏
Agree with Chris, don’t stop just yet 🙏🏼
For me, it was never about the cars it was about their friendship and corkyness with each other that made me a true fan.
Quirkiness*
It’s like we’re all sensing an end to something that we’ve fallen in love with over the last 22 years.
I thought “Sand Job” had the most Top Gear vibe of all the Grand Tour episodes. Honestly, I would watch two hours of these three stuck on the 405 freeway during rush hour.
My wish: they finish by doing eight episodes of Top Gear on the BBC.
Once they dumped the tent and the Celebrity Brain Crashs, and all that, Grand Tour became 'all good', kind of is my take. I think the Nordic one was a little off, but suspect that was due to May getting injured.
Clarkson, Hammond, and May make up a holy trinity that are rivalled by few. Their chemistry and charisma is amazing, and I hope they can continue working together long into the future.
PLEASE GUYS CARRY ON WITH "THE GRAND TOUR" AS LONG AS YOU HAVE FUN DOING IT! WE LOVE IT!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
it would be nice but they all left
They didn't 'leave';, just decided to not do it any longer. Hopefully every couple of years they'll come together to do one off specials or something. The chemistry those 3 have is something that NEEDS to be maintained in some for or other. Their singular shows are all great, but nothing compares to the three riffing off each other.
@@zybch there was a video explaining why he quit ( Clarkson ) at least that was the tittle.
I know it might be difficult to get this done, but I would absolutely love it if the last Grand Tour could finish with laps on the Top Gear test track.
I loved that scene with the snow mobile because I loved the skit in the movie Ernest Goes to Camp, where this caddy vehicle drives around camp aimlessly throughout the movie by itself. LOVED IT!
Does that mean snowmobile isn't coming on then?
@monkified1989 Well, no James, it has driven into something that turned it into a fireball of broken parts, so no... lmao
Ernest Goes To Camp was my favorite movie when I was kid!
for those who grew up with ancient values there still remains the hope of living carefree moments like they did. Thanks Richard James and Jeremy
Great tribute to Steve Wright, well done both, he was a legend no doubt. 👍👍
The Grand Tour need to revisit the Darien Gap between Panama and Colombia crossing that Blashford-Snell and his team conquered in a Range Rover in 1972. The boys could do it!
too dangerous, lots of cartels and bad guys there
@@NewfieOn2Wheelsyup. They’d have to have a team of special forces to not be a huge cartel target.
They are too old to do that.
Been a fan of Top Gear since 2002, up until the boys left to make The Grand Tour. Really hope they keep going with the show. And also hope that they know they don't need to keep finding exotic places to go, nor do they need to do any potentially dangerous stunts for it to continue being a great show. No matter where they go or what they do, we long time fans will keep watching and being thankful for the entertainment. It's so sad to even think about it all coming to an end. Of course it inevitably will at some point.....but I really hope it's not anytime soon. Even if the sand job ends up being the last episode. At least we have a great deal of content we can continue to treasure. Wish I could thank them personally for all of their work. That's when you know you are a fan. Haha
I watched it last night. I loved it. I really hope that they do make more. they are an institution at this point and each one they do is as good, or better than the last one.
Literally cried my eyes out when they too gear, then during the grand tour, and now thinking about being no more. Sunday night 8pm i tuned in as a kid growing up for years before internet and netflix, 1 of my phew happy moments during childhood. Love all 3 of your guys work still....keep working chaps
- People watching any other show/magazine/newspaper about cars: Oh, I want a car like that, engine this, HP that
- People watching Top Gear/The Grand Tour: I wanted a friendship like that with whom I could go on road trips full of laughs and good times, no matter what car.
They showed us the life that life prevented us from having.
I hope is that BBC Top Gear would allow the STIG to appear in the final episode of Grand Tour. Stiggy is such a crucial character.
I’m definitely not ready for this trio to part ways. But I am so blessed to have had you three entertaining us in style for so long. It has been a blast
Canadian here. I really hope you guys continue to work together for as long as you all are able to walk. The last time I felt excitement about something on TV before you guys, was maybe LOST. If I see anything with either 1 of you 3, it's an instant click.
Please don't stop.
Evans marvelling over something he arrogantly thought he could easily replicate when he took the TG job, but couldn't.
The Madagascar episode is a very underrated grand tour episode
It was not very good... was better than Scandiflick what was bloody awful
@@frederickvondinkerberg7721 not a car fan then?
@@jakeevans1129 huge car fan, I grew up with the original Top Gear, the one from the 1970's which has ZERO to do with my statement, so try to stay on topic. Madagascar and Scandiflick were tired and poorly done and were by far some of the worst specials the trio have ever done, it was clear that they had run out of ideas, and it showed.
Fair play...Evans has some humility.
That was so fun. Thank you
Fantastic interview 👏👏👏👏
My dad and I started laughing hysterically during the train shot because it reminded us of the ship at the beginning of Spaceballs.
Are they the greatest triple act ever on TV? They’ve made legendary tv for so long
Amazing episode of an awesome show (The Grand Tour)
Remember working in Christchurch me and my boss sat in a customers brand new fiesta xr2 waiting for radio 1 two switch over to fm frequency and then it was Steve wright in the afternoon good times good radio station thanks Steve good journey my friend.
Looking forward to the Zimbabwe episode.
The only thought I had about the train was that as it was full of ore, it would be going towards the coast, so going the wrong way for bringing the cars in. Plus then headed East instead of South West. Small details.
Jeremy, Richard and May far transcend Grand tour or top gear. I actually quite enjoy a lot of their other presentations outside of automotive presentation.
James's toy stories, man lab etc. Those are fascinating to watch. Jeremy's old inventions that change the world series was fantastic as well.
I love watching all of the science presentations that Hammond does, as well as some of his other adventures. As presenters, they're simply top tier.
The Grand Tour is stupendous. There's nothing else like in on, well, anything. The closest anyone has come is Car Quest, and that's not even a thing any more. So I do hope they keep doing the show. They certainly haven't lost a step.
Liked how evans asked important questions about the ending as fan :) they could easily do one film every now and then when they have a new great idea and location etc.
Please pretty please don't stop making these car programs they are so good
It was worth watching the show for the train segment alone. The choice of music for it was amazing.
Amazing Trio ,I'm sure they will re create something like they are doing with the farm, cog and travel/food...would watch them do anything they are the best !
Richard❤
Instead of The Grand Tour coming to an end altogether, I’d love to see The Grand Tour turn into more of a challenge show kinda like they did on Top Gear where they buy cars and customize them for specific challenges so they wouldn’t have to do these massive road trips and can stay close to home but we still get to enjoy the trio for many more years to come.
I think they like making these long trips.. they like the challenge and the travelling. I think it's the only reason they're still doing these
@@CristianoSilva-ro9vqI don't think that's sustainable as they age
Great Steve Wright tribute. The sand job was a fantastic episode
Sand Job was awesome! If you're planning on making more, come back to Australia. There's The Simpson Desert of you want more sand or The Pilbara of you're looking for awesome jagged cliffs and palm filled Oasis. Recommend 4wd though if you're going to do it.
This is for Richard. As far as your health allows (which I really hope you guys are all doing well) you guys should keep going and doing these. We love watching your specials. You guys should not stop just for the sake of it. Also.. In the really unfortunate situation that you guys decide to stop.. We the fans can only allow that if you guys start to do a new type of show together! Please keep on doing something together. Seeing you guys doing something and being "idiots" at doing something together is the best thing!
See people have this view but it’s just selfish, JC said he’s too “old, fat and unfit” to continue. They’ve been doing it together for YEARSSS and they want to stop and do their solo stuff, they have way more than enough money. They’re getting old…Jeremy is 63 they want to stop, they can stop doing things as a 3 and stop doing GT. fans need to respect that because we still have like 15 years of content of these 3 in cars doing crazy stuff
In essence, a strategy is the overall approach or direction chosen to achieve a goal, while a plan is the detailed set of actions and steps designed to implement that strategy. Think of strategy as the guiding principle and plan as the tactical execution. Effective decision-making often involves a combination of strategic thinking and detailed planning to navigate complex situations and achieve desired outcomes.
When they left Top Gear, people were upset, but i took the perspective then, and still to this day, know this is going to end sooner or later. Doesnt mean, that the end of GT season 3 when they did the tribute video, i didnt near cry because it felt like i was losing my best friends. At that point was like what 15ish years I had been watching them. I really hope they continue to do more, even if it is just one or two a year, but i do understand what Richard said, and what Clarkson has said, and I can understand wanting end on a good note. Old Top Gear eps, and the Gran Tour eps, are some of my comfy TV show to watch. I know whats going to happen, I'm still going to laugh, and enjoy the moment.
I had my first car job at Aston Martin Tickford (1984) & we had Steve Wright on every day. He was brilliant, made us all laugh. Bless him
I feel like we're headed for the day we all feel is coming nearer and nearer. But that's allright, so long as the end in a... bombshell.
Fun fact. The only place in Mauritania where you can get alcohol is the French Embassy. That's it.
Was the scene they talked about Laurence of Arabia. Thought it looked like the closing scenes in Ice Cold in Alex?
Why does anyone like Chris Evans?
No idea. I'm not just saying that because of the whole Top Gear thing, his voice is just insufferable. God knows who thinks he's good for radio.
No idea either, saw an episode of that 90s show he was on, tfi?, with blur and chris evans on it. Insufferable then and now. Like jonathan ross, he just seems to have a career now cause of "legacy".
If they ever decide to stop doing The Grand Tour. They should do a road trip in cars the same make and model as their first cars and stroll down the various Memory Lanes of their lives and home towns and stories. And also they should write me a big check for coming up with the idea so that I can retire and hang out with them on Clarkson's Farm.
The next one should be “ A Lorry Haul “
I liked this latest episode. One more to go, going to a tear jerker seeing them off 😢
I absolutely get why it’s going to end it’s time I guess ❤I’ve been watching since the beginning of their tenure and guess it’s a shame but time moves so fast
I'd love to see a world tour where they drive around the world in cars from the country there in at the time
I would be totally happy if they went back to old Top Gear-esque challenges. Plus it would make it easier on them and the crew. Keep it in the UK, and do "Simple" Challenges. I could care less what they do in all reality, it's just about those 3 being together. I would watch them, watch paint dry. I would love to see another lorry driving challenge, or another fuel economy challenge. I''ve DREAMED of them doing another 24hr race. I like the over the top nature of the grand tour and the journeys through obscure places. But the basic old Top Gear style stuff will always be the best. Even something similar to the Ground Force episode of Top Gear would be fantastic.
The world is lacking a car tv program. As much as I didn't like Chris Evans on Top Gear back then, imagine him back with the trio and Harris. May be spectacular.
And oh yea, by the way! CHRIS! The tunnel is North of Choum, and is called the Choum Tunnel.. and it's a hundred miles away from the "hill Jeremy cabled down" ;) ;) .. sure.. it's actually marked on Google Maps.. lol.. right off theN1 HWY that takes you anywhere you need to go.. ugh.. this special was just a party in the desert for cast and crew,.,
Clarkson said they couldn't think of things to do in future shows.
My suggestion is ask the fans for ideas and if you choose one take that fan with you.
Just imagine a Grand Tour Siberia. (and crossing to the Big Diomede Island) Well, I gave you the destination, have at it lads :)
I believe they just don't want to do the big show with big anticipations.
I'd like to see them leave an air of hope that it will happen again even though it never might.
If it happens, no big announcement, just "it's on that network this Friday" and that's it.
Big shows are outdated but they still have the passion and magic to create great content!
The Last Grand Tour should be done in England and make motorhomes for the last time.
I don't care if it's a car show. Just do SOMETHING with the 2 of them. The DriveTribe video of Hamster and May getting drunk and playing chess was wonderful. I will watch anything with the 3 of them.
They use those trains of that length in Western Australia all the time
Would be a bit daft to make such a long train and not using it all the time. Waste of resources to just use it occasionally 😊
The man who made top gear getting interviewed by the man who RUINED top gear
5:20 Could have called it the Sand Tour
12:20 funny he did that after what james did, he did that
Chris evans talking to Richard thinking you jammy bastard
It isn't about the cars for me, it's about seeing those three guys go on some kind of adventure together and being naturally hilarious doing so! The car is just a pretty good vehicle (figuratively and literally) for doing that. But they don't have to limit themselves to basing everything around cars. They could take one of those private space trips (the preflight training should be hilarious!) or drive mahoosive construction machinery to build a school in Africa or even ask the fans for ideas. What could they do or create with that Amazon prime money that's ambitious but awesome, and maybe leaves the world with more cool stuff in it than when they found it?
2:50 it's not that the USA isn young, it is that it doesn't have the new old money class system like the UK.
Africa eco race still does the paris dakar route.
17:44
I feel like the next grand tour this year will be "their last." Maybe in a couple years we will get another special, or another type of show where they are still able to entertain us, without putting too much pressure on them.
TH-camrs have gone throughout the majority of the length I've seen throughout the years on trains such as that one. Pretty crazy.
Hear me out for a new episode , ( Famous movie cars ) Richard in the Starsky and Hutch ford. James in the Bond db5 with the weapons and gadgets and Jeremy in one of the old Batmobiles ...
I’m waiting for the Zimbabwe special tbh since they couldn’t do it since Mugabe was in power on top gear
In fairness, did Mr Evans mean the cold beer shot from Ice Cold In Alex, rather than Lawrence of Arabia?
Yup.
We have to have this trio doing something together even if it ends up being wheelchair races. They are too hilarious to leave us.
Lots of mention of "Original Top Gear" in the comments. Clarkson, Hammond and May were not the original. Admittedly Clarkson was early on but Quentin Wilson, Tony Mason, Tiff Needell etc were before the trio. It had run for 24 years before them.
Even Angela Rippon was there way back, but then it was a more serious car consumer show, not the Top Gear we all know n love.
Chris Evans couldn’t resist a Clarkson dog
Really great interview, but when I hear somthing wrong it bugs me. I might be wrong but if referencing frosty cold beer and movies, surely its ice cold in Alex. Don't rember Laurence drinking beer maybe a gin and tonic lol 😂
It was great!
Hammond should go to the Chicago street race for nascar
20:40 Interesting, I thought this job was the worst.
Could imagine a better one: Canada: Coast to Coast. Not an official tourist guide. Hammond on two wheels. May using public transport. And the other one, driving past all the good stuff.
BAH! it's not the Lawrence of Arabia take off! Chris Evens with his usual ' I talk a lot but know nothing' mode. That was a take off from Ice Cold in Alex.
Basically hamster was trying to pass all the scripted bits as real and Evans trying to play along😅
I don't know why I am so surprised by how wide spread DJ silly boy's loss has been felt, he is a friend of anyone who listened to the show. He will be missed sorely!
For 5 years he accompanied my mates and I on the school bus home. Many times he played music we'd sing along to. He was also great fun with his posse, pushing what could be broadcast on an afternoon show.
I would be ok if they only did a christmas special each year. A big one, in two parts. If they did that for another 5 or 6 years then it wouldn't get old and it wouldn't take up too much of their year
i mean i get what he's saying, but it's so good seeing these three guys riding cars having adventures.. you can't help but want to see more of it..
At one point i thought, that fake royalty megan markle got jeremy cancled at amazon, because that pansy can't take a joke, and isn't familiar with Jeremy's sense of humor.. i still feel that that made those amazon people worried about continuing.
that would be a real shame, but if it's up to the trio to keep going and or stopping with this great stuff, it's alright, even if it would be great to see more.
Glad to be able to keep checking back on old new top gear, not the old old top gear, not the new new top gear, the old new top gear. to see these guys is grade A entertainment.
21:51 🙄
18:46 : ME
I find it ironic that Richard is talking to the jerk who almost singlehandedly got Top Gear cancelled.
TV is lacking in British Cars shows and once the Grand tour ends and with Top Gear being shelved it will be an end of an era , as wheeler dealers/car sos feature mainly restorations and not grass roots Petrol Heads , Jeremy Richard James should actually hold a car show once a year and attract 10s of 1000s almost like a car Glastonbury, Grand tours espisode death of a ford showed the demand
James never got his revenge on Jeremy for the sand in the car prank. Disappointing.
i hope he get his revenge on the last episode, sadly
Why are Chris’s palms orange?
What's up with Richards hair 🙂
