yep. FSU miami and UF had fierce recruiting wars at the same high schools. most of the players were native floridians who had been competing with or vs each other in their respective high schools and prior to. they knew- or at least had known of- each other for years- thats why it was so important to them not to lose in this rivalry...
It's weird how FSU showed they were the better team and lost. And then they went and lost to Florida. Miami had teams in that era that didn't win the title that were better than their '91 team.
@@mrog5481 negative lol if youre the better team you have to be great in all 3 phases of the game, offense, defense, special teams, fsu was missing the latter hence why they couldnt get over the hump
@@mrog5481 your right. bowden admitted he would get tight and conservative in the big games- thats how he lost to the irish in 93. the canes were always loose. thats one of the things that made them so great- and so vilified...
If you are a miami hurricanes fan like me this is one of the best wins and favorite wins over fsu puts a smile on my face all the time and rip keith jackson great memories 1991.
This 1991 Miami Hurricanes team was a paper champion. One of the worst national championship teams of the modern era. They played no truly great teams in 1991, and got to play a mediocre Nebraska team in their home stadium for their bowl game. They would have gotten absolutely destroyed by Washington that year had they played. How do we know this? Because the very next year, most of this very same 1991 Miami team got bent over by Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, and that Alabama team was a poor man's version of the 1991 Washington Huskies, which were the real national champions of 1991.

The better QB Bryan Fortay was a sophomore in ‘91 and after getting the “life isn’t fair” lesson firsthand, transferred to Rutgers. Submit he would have won the Heisman in ‘93 had he stayed at Miami.
Keith Jackson and Bob Griese ... that is the gold standard....
It's always good to watch these old games
Great game, great rivalry between teams that weren't even in the same conference.

THIS WAS A CLASSIC MIAMI VICTORY OVER THE HATED NOLES . LOL. I WAS THERE AND LOVED EVERY SECOND ESPECIALLY WIDDDDE RIGHT #1
it's weird how the nerves and magnitude of this game exceeds that of a national championship

Growing Pain...FSU always second best in Florida
Always came so close but couldn’t bring it home. Bowden in a nut shell. Great coach and human being but couldn’t win against Miami.
More like an NFL game.
After the kick goes wide right....Miami players are all over the field they're going to be penalized for it but So What.. Keith Jackson

2:19:53 Say what you want about Gino Torretta, but the guy was a baller. Not pretty. But tough and clutch. Hi-C beating T-Buck on this play.
Why didnt FSU center the ball?
In those, dead ball plays were placed on the wider hash marks. In 1993, the hash marks were narrowed to be on par with NFL.
Anyone remember the supposed all world HS QB that Toretta beat out... then he tried to sue the school saying he was promised to be the starter
No who was that?
