College football will never be this good again. With Keith Jackson announcing the game, no less. As a Gator fan who hated both teams equally, it was always fun to just make the popcorn, grab a beer from the fridge, sit back, and watch some damned good football when these two teams met. What a time it was for college football in the state of Florida. RIP, Coach Bowden.
With the new rule changes over the years and the spread offense there would be a lot more points scored today..I miss the days when officials allowed the defense to play without fear of being penalized.
You knew something great was about to happen if Keith Jackson was calling the game. He’s simply the best to ever do it. RIP Mr. Jackson. You are missed my friend.
Quite correct , then my Buccaneers drafted Sapp w/the 12th Pick in the 95' Draft ... Thank God he tested positive for "endo" @the Combine & he fell right in our lap
Regular season games in college football will never be this massive again with the new playoff format. This was it back then. A titanic defensive battle. This 1991 FSU team was one of the best that didn't win the title. Both teams were absolutely loaded with star players. The "Golden Age" of Florida football.
This college football game was a great classic it features the Rock Dwayne Johnson and a player named Mancini Warren Sapp and it also featured a game that features a battle of #1 vs #2 2 most storied college football programs in the 1991 college football season fighting for a championship opportunity!
I hated Bobby Bowden when he coached FSU as a lifelong U fan. But he will always have my respect for his professionalism and being a good person. He is and always be FSU's greatest coach. R.I.P. Bobby.
This was a great time for college football. Starting in the early 80's (due to my age) I had 2 absolutely must see games every year. Michigan/Ohio State and Nebraska/Oklahoma. Then this epic rivarly bubbled to the surface. IMO this was the best. Given the stakes, talent on the field, and often National Championship implications, there was no equal at the time. And that's from a Big 10 guy. Hell, even in fly over country it wasn't hard to see where the big boys resided in college football. :) P.S. This was one of those years where I wished we could have had a Miami/Washington Championship Game. What a beauty that would have been.
Man, i remember being a senior in high school being at an old girlfriend of mines house watching this game. Fond memories, she was really cute too... 😆
That 45-yard FG by Huerta to cut it to 16-10 was the forgotten moment in the game. Back in those days, even a lot of NFL kickers couldn't make kicks from that distance off a grass field (Norwood was one of many). He misses that and it's probably game over, especially after Miami went backwards on the three previous plays. Florida State would have had all the momentum.
Florida state was always the equivalent to Notre Dame in my opinion hated them just as much because they played in the easy ACC which is a basketball conference and always found a way to be in a national title game loved it when Miami won this!!!
College football in 70s,80s,90s was just more fun then now still love it but just more fun then. Now seems like same 3 teams with a real chance at title every yr dull
I was going in college and that 4th was classic, when that kick went wide right , I started running through the apartments yelling “How bout them Hurricanes”!
Miami was Bowden's kryptonite! At least three years the one loss to Miami, which was always close, or a wide right, would be the one thing which prevented FSU from winning the National Championship!
It was their last year as an independent. They played anybody, anywhere. They had already played a brutal schedule before this game, including wins over LSU, Michigan, BYU, and Syracuse.
Go Gurl!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 My granddaughter battled a rare, childhood cancer for from the ah of 3 until she passed 2 months shy of her 8th birthday. My son was a full time student, worked full time, and was at her side every spare minute…doing his homework at her bedside or sleeping next to her as she slept. To be anywhere else was unfathomable. Slade gmhas always been a slimy human being. Now he’s just a horrible PIS. Gretchen not much better. Go Dana!!
you can forget a lot in 27 years and posting the score means there's about three hours and forty-five minutes of useless data i no longer need to or care to watch... just a personal preference. it's your stuff and you should post it however you want. thank you for sharing it!
jd vinson to me this is the most intense game I have ever seen. Florida State Miami back then was CRAZY. We had a game that day and we were talking about this game being over so we we could watch this!
@@jdvinson6157 Then don't watch it. I usually like to know why something ends up 17-16. Although that's not a secret either, unless you've been under a rock for the last 29 years.

I wish I could’ve seen this, but I was too little. What a game!

#GO NOLES
Any 1 vs. 2 matchup, I'm glued to the TV.
cfb had a soul back then. it was just different from everything else. I wish I had a time machine to take my family back to then and raise them then
You knew something great was about to happen if Keith Jackson was calling the game. He’s simply the best to ever do it. RIP Mr. Jackson. You are missed my friend.
He used to be. Brad Nessler is at least a tie.
These old school Chevy commercials are really timeless
I love these videos that include the commercials. I miss the 90s. 😂😂
This was the National Championship Game!
I miss when Florida State, Miami, and Nebraska were great. It just felt right.
Crazy Warren Sapp and The Rock were freshman on this team
Quite correct , then my Buccaneers drafted Sapp w/the 12th Pick in the 95' Draft ... Thank God he tested positive for "endo" @the Combine & he fell right in our lap
Then Bucs drafted Derrick Brooks w/the #26 pick --- 2 HOF's in 1st Round.... those were the days ...
@@richardsanders5275Ravens did the same thing a year later (1996), drafting both Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis in the first round.
Bobby Bowden running down the sidelines thinking the kick is good will allways be the symbol memory of this rivalry oh good i miss it😢😢

As a FSU freshman at that game, it was so heartbreaking but what a game. Miss CFB like this
Coach Bowden was so full of life. Weird thinking he's gone now.
This college football game was a great classic it features the Rock Dwayne Johnson and a player named Mancini Warren Sapp and it also featured a game that features a battle of #1 vs #2 2 most storied college football programs in the 1991 college football season fighting for a championship opportunity!
That Intro gets me pumped even today. Seriously
That makes two...This one is better than CBS theme in my opinion
Jus to hear Keith Jackson's voice!!! R.I.P
"The clock ticks into history." & "That was a game."
R.I.P. Keith Jackson. College football has never been the same.
I hated Bobby Bowden when he coached FSU as a lifelong U fan. But he will always have my respect for his professionalism and being a good person. He is and always be FSU's greatest coach. R.I.P. Bobby.
I miss ABC Sports. Keith Jackson R.I.P. ESPN Sucks!
💯💯💯💯
They are the same company they just combined both to save money. They were in 1991 as well. ABC bought ESPN in 1984.

LOL. Bo Schembechler and Tom Osborne. Two historic jokes more often than not.
What a finish! I was already endeared to Miami. But FSU gave them great battles.
Boy, this is great - really appreciate it!
Man, i remember being a senior in high school being at an old girlfriend of mines house watching this game. Fond memories, she was really cute too... 😆
It's sad to see both these teams not being a national powerhouse contender. Hopefully it all change soon.
Yea I grew up watching this game.
Same here
Everything runs in cycle they’ll be back one day , both of em
I think Florida State is gonna be pretty good this year. We'll find out week one when they play a really good LSU team

But yet always played miami and beat always beat FL who would always win the easy sec 😂
Probably the greatest football game I ever had the pleasure to see.
This is the greatest game in college football history.

Yep they destroyed a great thing.
I was going in college and that 4th was classic, when that kick went wide right , I started running through the apartments yelling “How bout them Hurricanes”!
It took about 20+ years until fsu had a field goal kick go there way, "the Block at the rock".
RIP BOBBY BOWDEN
When football was football.
Miami was Bowden's kryptonite! At least three years the one loss to Miami, which was always close, or a wide right, would be the one thing which prevented FSU from winning the National Championship!
College football was better in the 90s ❤
The play of the game was the pass interference that set up wide right.
Let the big dog HUNT... Best opening ever!
They were at home. They were #1...
Kevin Williams was a track star
91 FSU might be the best 2 loss team ever.
Also the 89 FSU team who had 2 loses but ran off 10 in a row
Still can't believe that kick went wide right on the replay. Such a makeable kick.
07 lsu that won the natty with 2 losses might disagree
It was their last year as an independent. They played anybody, anywhere. They had already played a brutal schedule before this game, including wins over LSU, Michigan, BYU, and Syracuse.
these 2 teams woupd dominate any team in the playoffs this yr
After watching Winnie the Pooh, Darkwing Duck, Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters.

Went to high school with Miami’s punter. One of the biggest assholes I’ve ever come across.
No special intro music for such a big game.
3:44:09
I wish CFB would get rid of the no huddle. Can’t stand college football today.
I miss themes like the one used by ABC sports played at 14:29
Keith jackson goat
3rd down shift to center and down the ball for a 4th down straight shot fg. Smh
So many wasted 1st and goal chances did it for the Noles.
Gino Torretta was a very overrated QB
You say that but look at his record. Football was way differnt 30 yrs ago
@@seanstewart8308 you take away Kevin Williams from that offense, and they would've looked even more pedestrian.
@@MrBmick79 Kevin Williams wasn’t the best WR on the team it was Lamar Thomas, Horace Copeland and then Kevin Williams you sound stupid lmaooo
He was just a good college quarterback there were tons that couldn't take that next step
Torretta was an average college QB but he was perfect for this Miami team. His record speaks for itself.
you know, it kind of sucks when you put the score in the title... just sayin'
I didn't realize it was a secret...27 years later
