Interesting to learn how to remove the strip without destroying it. Roof panel seams are often located under these strips, and after a few years, any factory sealant under them can give way and allow leaks to get into your car, as happened to a GM vehicle I have. Good job on cleaning and refinishing the strip. Thanks for the video and watch out for trolls.
How do you fix that? Remove the sealant and put flex seal on it? Or just clean it up and put flex seal on it? My corners where the visors are leaks into them on the roof inside my grand prix 05.Im trying to fix the roof leak
Thank you! Very infomative. I believe I can easily accomplish this! I love my 2011 Taurus Lmt, with all the extras, it's still in excellent condition, low miles and beautiful, except this trim. Also, the silver around the lights is also peeling. I'll look to see if you address this issue as well. Thanks so much for your video! 🙏💜🙏
Looks like you forgot the clear coat (a few coats of it)so when you wash the car that molding paint wont rinse off and fade , right ? Looked much better though. Okay Thanks !
Thanks! I was thinking about a clear coat. I don't remember it looking dull. It was shiny like the paint. Mine is rainbow metalic paint. But I guess black will do.
It's damaged by UV light from the sun, so probably the car has been parked in the same position for most of it's life, with one side getting a lot more sun than the other!
2:13 can that be the cause of rainwater getting into the driver side front floorboard? The cowl has no debris and the ac drain is fine. The floorboard ONLY gets wet during the wet season here in PNW. Are there other rail drains that I need to check? I do not have a sunroof.
Do you have a video on how to replace the weather rubber seals on the roof of a 2010 Ford Edge Limited? The ones I have are broken, cracked, and braking apart because of age and sun. I have replacements seals but not sure how to remove and replace. I have the following replacements: 7T4Z-78503A23-A, 7T4Z-78503A22-A, AND 7T4Z-7851707-A. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks.
I tried that and it looked good for a few days then it rapidly started dulling. I had to spray paint the left side rail but I didn't take the rail off the car. I made a super easy job a 4 hour nightmare 😝 because I had to lay painters tape down the length of the roof so I didn't get black spray paint on the roof. I guess I should watch more videos! 😝
Some cars have the rubberised paint from the factory which is a matte finish. Others have a shiny finish like the rest of the car. If you want the shiny finish, you can paint with normal car paint (suitable primer for the metal then top coat), but it's harder to get a nice, even finish and also you would have to be careful not to bend the bars much as the paint could crack... Not really suitable if you're going to be taking them on and off regularly.
Guys 1. I want to put a ROOF RACK ON MY 2003 Ford Focus ZX3 the problem is it is a 2 door with Hatchback and I can only find universal but it does not wk for teo doors. My plan is to put a rack and a cage to put a luggage carrier and a sm solar panel to travel and visit family 2. I want to put a hitch for my car and now I can’t find one for the same car above. Can you recommend one and show step by step how to do it please. I want to pull my lit boat and moped
I guess you could always go to a shop that mixes and sells paint and buy the exact paint your car has. Every color has a code, you may be able to find the code for your exact paint in several places in the car, for example below the trunk floor in the spare wheel area. It might be best to prime, then paint, then clear coat the roof rails.
@@rainacherienne1010 good for you. These rails have also been peeling on my father's car, but replacements don't really seem to be widely avaliable and I could hardly find anything online, so I might try painting them myself. We even have a compressor and a paint gun, so hopefully I can get a decent result with that.
Just because of the paint on a cover strip to make a video, I think it's very exaggerated. If you do not have 2 left hands, you can do a little thing without such a stupid promotion video !!
Maybe everyone doesn't possess your skill set. I'm a 61 year old woman and after watching this, I feel I can save myself some money by doing it myself. I didn't even know they were snap on strips! So....this video is quite useful. Why be a troll?

Nice job Conrad
Thank you. My Ford Focus has this problem, but only one side for some reason. I will give it a go this weekend.

Very smart. Thanks.
I have same issue with my Sonata.
Same
2011 sonata same. Fixed it right up. Windshield clips are stiff. Stay with it.

Would the removal process be the same as a 2012 Ford Focus ?
Great video, I did the same thing to my MKX a year ago and it has worked great.
Jumpsuits are makin a come back
Wait till the wife asks why theres black stripes on the water hose and fence lol

Are those specifically for sunroof?
Thank you!
I guess you could buff them out and leave them nice and shiny, no?
No, because its rubberized spray paint

I have this issue but need to know how to replace with that original black trim molding. I think cheap paint will look unprofessional.

@@rainacherienne1010 decent amount of money, seems worth it to try painting first, especially for an older car
