There is a cost for "free" and that cost is the loss of maps, weapons, skins, etc. and all done at a HIGH quality that we used to get. The math is very simple. Look at the count and delivery pace of new maps, game modes, and vehicles in the Battlefield 2, 3, and 4 expansion packs. Then look at the same stats for Battlefield 2042's "free" bullshit. It's less than a quarter the count of those.

Battlefield 3 had 5 expansions with 20 new maps (some of the best the franchise has ever seen), numerous new gameplay modes, a bunch of new vehicles and weapons, and skins. The main thing that modern shooters lack is grit and seriousness. Yes we are all playing these games for fun but when you have ridiculously cheesy, unrealistic, bright, colourful player models/skins, the games immersion is completely destroyed. Skins are great as they give you a roadmap of progression (if they are no paid, but earnt) and they give you character individuality. For paid skins, it gives the studios feedback/ more funding to keep renewing and updating the game. The key is to meet in the middle. Remove battle passes and bring in skins that fit within the world that don't make you look too out of place or ridiculous. Its more than evident that the lack of ambition and gamble in modern COD games is what is killing the franchise. There is a reason BF3/4 are so fondly remembered. Do not let this happen to battlefield.
i hate the never ending sniper glint, i wish instead of constantly being on it turns off after a second of you seeing it. that way the enemy has enough time to react and you have enough time to shoot.
As much as I want to be excited for the next Battlefield, I can't not let Andrew Wilson's "tremendous live service" comment linger in my head, and the marketing starting with the Black Ops 6 strategy of "Hey remember these dumb changes that never should have happened? We undid them!" Isn't something we should be praising as highly as people are, congratulations, you did something that shouldn't have even needed to be done if you'd actually understood the assignment at hand. The bit with them saying the game will have double the weapons of BF2042 is a hilariously low bar too, ~45 weapons at launch is still about half of what Battlefield 4 launched with over a decade ago (83). I really want to be excited, but I can't get excited knowing these things.
Get rid of "games as a service". Bring back privately owned servers. Put out a finished product on day one with at least ten maps. Every couple of months, put out DLC with 3 to 4 maps, mew weapons, new vehicles. If you can't afford DLC on release day, wait for a sale
DLC? Paid servers? What happened to free updates? Why do you want to pay for extra content? If they have been doing this for years, then it doesn't seem like the greed changed much. Just changed shape

A war between NATO and a Mercenary company. Even though it’s a leak, I kinda hope it’s true as that could mean we get more than just American and Russian equipment to play with. Maybe even different vehicles depending on where the map is set.

Personally one of the biggest problems with modern shooters is that Devs focus on the competitive scene, with all these metas for guns, attachments and perks. I just want to come home and play, not study a 50 page web article on what perks or attachments give me that 0.01% advantage. I'd be happy with the Battlefield 2 style, where there was no advantages with perks or attachments, it was only based on your personal skill with a chosen weapon.
I’m so glad that Zampella is taking the helm of battlefield. Just look at his track record- Modern Warfare, Titanfall, Apex Legends. Guy is a titan of the industry and I think BF6 is gonna be a classic

I’m cautiously optimistic now which is a miracle because I wasn’t even looking forward to this game at all originally. Reason being is that Vince Zampella is attached to the project. He’s a big name in the FPS scene so it gives me some hope it’ll be good. Regardless, don’t pre-order and don’t take the reveal trailer as what the gameplay will be like.
The first red flag is the global setting. The best Battlefield campaigns all had a connection between their locations other than "the plot happens here". NATO vs a PMC? Yikes.
I mean, considering groups like Wagner exist and operate on a global scale means that they aren’t too far off. Russia uses Wagner to take care of shit that the government can distance themselves from. Take with that what you will.

At least they've not been developing during covid, which had a huge impact on 2042s botched release. As in, 2020 was the year of the hero shooter/operator shooter, so they changed it to that from a gritty BF4-but-set-in-the-future style game (as you can see in the early early concept art). This time, there's no excuse.
I wish they would add as many armies as in BF1, but nowadays they don't even have the guts to add China, probably not even Rusia. They will make the US fight some "evil mercenary group," and they'll add horrible skins like COD or even bring back the operators. Live service and no DLCs.
I really hope this game is current gen only so we can finally take advantage of the Series X and PS5 hardware. I wanna see this game running at 4k60 on my Series X.
TBH I want a battlefield set in a conflict that hasn't been covered by the series before. This includes modern/near future fictional conflicts. I'd love to see a Battlefield set sometime in the interwar period between WW2, the American Civil War, perhaps even a non-firearms based conflict like the crusades or something. But considering it IS a modern setting, it had BETTER be a proper milsim, not a COD clone. Even BF3/4 were COD clones IMO. Give me 128v128, realistic ballistics, logistics, 1 shot kills at 100 yards with an assault rifle, etc. Having a minimally destructive environment is not enough anymore. I realize I'm jaded, but I do not have faith that this game is going to be anything but absolute cheeks, with a battle royale mode and lootboxes galore. Also, get your eyes checked. 5:17 looks quite literally NOTHING like a Blackhawk. Not tryna be rude dude but glasses may be a requirement lol.

Also, only 64 players sounds abit disappointing to me, as i feel like 80 players or 100 players could be a good sweet spot to fill up all vehicles and sense of scale to the battlefield; but if the map designs are as good as in BF3 then maybe i'll find it satisfactory. 64 player count felt like it was soooo next gen back in the days, but my dream has always been even more players. Albiet BF2042 taught us just how important good map design and scale is over sheer player count. This game is gonna make or break the future of this beloved franchise. I'm cautiously optimistic going forward.

A different studio entirely dedicated to a free to play element of Battlefield can only benefit the franchise. Bring more players to the game and thus more money which gives the devs a bigger budget for new games.

I really hope a battle pass and skins dont ruin the feeling and aesthetic of the game. That's one thing I liked about battlefield 4 was each side having specific gear and soliders that gave them a certain look and character. Modern warfare 2019 was the first call of duty I really enjoyed in years but after a while they had the ramp the skins so people would buy them and it didnt take long until everyone was bright colors and shooting lazers. Dont even get me started on the other modern modern warfares.

Yes two armies going head to head is good. Although it should not been some "PMCs" or terrorist etc. It needs to be clear, real world countries just like earlier. Russia vs. NATO, China vs. USA in Pacific etc. PMCs could be DLC like awesome "Special Forces" was with legendary Battlefield 2. No fantasy pkease but real life countries in fictional modern conflict.
of course 2042 doesnt hold up compared to bt3-4 but i did really enjoy customizing my weapon while running around, helped me change my approach from long distance to cqb areas while playing conquest
2042 was still leagues better than the new MW3,especially now that it’s a lot less buggy than at launch. I reinstalled it like a month ago and I have been having a ton of fun playing it again. Portal was the best at launch when you could choose the era you wanted to play but now the whole game is good

U.S. vs. Taliban, Russia vs. Ukraine, Israel vs. Hamas, U.S. vs China. Each faction with different equipment and weapons that force teams to use different strategies to fight the opposing team.

The jet and helicopter physics were horrible in 2042. Chances of them bringing back the old BF4 BF3 gameplay feel are anorexic at best.

Yes two armies going head to head is good. Although it should not been some "PMCs" or terrorist etc. It needs to be clear, real world countries just like earlier. Russia vs. NATO, China vs. USA in Pacific etc. PMCs could be DLC like awesome "Special Forces" was with legendary Battlefield 2. No fantasy pkease but real life countries in fictional modern conflict.

of course 2042 doesnt hold up compared to bt3-4 but i did really enjoy customizing my weapon while running around, helped me change my approach from long distance to cqb areas while playing conquest
2042 was still leagues better than the new MW3,especially now that it’s a lot less buggy than at launch. I reinstalled it like a month ago and I have been having a ton of fun playing it again. Portal was the best at launch when you could choose the era you wanted to play but now the whole game is good

It would be great if we had more than just generic NATO faction and generic PMC faction with different factions fighting in different environments. U.S. vs. Taliban, Russia vs. Ukraine, Israel vs. Hamas, U.S. vs China. Each faction with different equipment and weapons that force teams to use different strategies to fight the opposing team.
