Not really, Battlefield as a whole basically disproves that theory completely, BF4, BF1, BF5 and now 2042 were all lambasted on launch, and all of them turned it around and have become respected in the eyes of the community. When the next BF game releases. you'll see tons of comments talking about the good times on 2042, and everyone will just pretend they loved the game, happens literally every time.
@@Furebel Bf 2042 peaked at nearly 100k players on steam alone, it honestly did just fine, idrk how Battlefield 5 did but after the Pacific update the game did pop off quite hard. You're arguably right it never had the same cultural impact as 4 and 1, but that hardly means the games were broken by bad first impressions, by definition those games werent failures.

Because the marketing was good, it was supposed to bring the second coming of Jesus Christ himself as I remember it! But now I see that there was one free weekend where it actually also peaked at over 100k on steam. No clue what happened there. Still, numbers by themselves don't mean that much. Regularly 2042 gets around 15k-20k peaks. Battlefield 1 has... also around 15k peaks. As I see right now, Battlefield V is actually the winner with 25-30k, peaks, while Battlefield 4 struggles to break 3k players. I do have to add that numbers differences between steam and EA launcher might be much bigger on 4, 1 and V then 2042, as back then these games were accessible only on Origin - the old EA launcher. So the real numbers of players on older titles are most likely much higher then what steamdb shows, while on 2042 it's probably close to accurate.
i like that the soldiers finally have side specific uniforms, but i DO wish you could still change the camo since, well, black usually isn't the best choice either on snow or desert
The random Henry Blackburn namedrop reminded me that yes, 2042 does exist in the same universe as 3, 4, possibly 1 and V. And yet they STILL won't address the fact that Paris is straight up nuked in the canon. But yeah, 2042 as a game is ok. I don't hate it as much but I just find it serviceable. Ok, but never really giving me those Only In Battlefield(tm) moments the same way older games did, or even stuff like The Finals does.

Of course, you have Second Assault's version of Métro but you'd think 2042 would address the fact that Paris was nuked, even in passing. I literally just booted this game up a few hours ago for the first time in over a year and 3(?) Months. I didn't see any ads or anything, haven't kept up with updates. Game feels good now, but for someone who pre-ordered and played early access, there is no way I can just "forget" lol
I guess it kinda is. And you don't have to deal with the broken game for 4 months straight + content delay to fix the game. 😂. It pisses me off so much back then that i have to play with a broken mouse input lag, frame drop constantly that I lost most of the fight.
Thank god, this isn't a "Battlefield 2042 is good now" video. This game is what it is. The drip feeding and fixing was disgusting. This game personally killed my enjoyment for multiplayer shooters. Cod and battlefield are just not it anymore. Also your editing is very familiar I'm curious who's your inspiration.
But it is actually good now is it not? The game feels great, my only complaints are stupid looking specialists in a serious war game and lack of new content, shooting feels really good in this game but it could be better(like bf5). Vehicle balance is good i think, except that i cant ever get in a tank for some reason, it was definetely much easier to get yourself a tank or a jet in bf4
I would actually prefer bf5 but like 80% of all the good guns are locked behind medic class for some reason and i love destroying vehicles so it doesnt stack for me kind of
just bought it, thought id give it a try after 3 years of updates for 8 bucks. its kind of amazing how a company can invest so much money into making a game look amazing but playing it feels soulless. battlefield 3, 4 and 1 made you feel like you were in an epic war. this one doesnt.

Only reason I bought this disaster on sale was because of Portal that had the original formula of classes without the added future Heroes 'sPeciAliSt' crap. Boy was I gullible and stupid, they haven't added one map to Portal since release. Not one. Uninstalled this retardation a year ago.
It'll never be good. This is different from the rest of franchise There's no destructible environments and the game doesn't like feel like battlefield. The movement feels like something I made in Unity 6 years ago. It was a beginner tutorial as well.

I did the same when that desert map launched.. Game was running way worse than I remember. Once Battlebit and The Finals came out I have no reason to go back. Even played BF4 a few times this year and it holds up really good! All chat is a riot 😂

I've always kinda liked 2042. Like I understand the hate but not the "its not fun" argument. I've been frustrated, yet consistently having fun with it since the beta. Its battlefield at the end of the day, even the worst and weirdest games in the series are fun

Bro if you really played BF3 and Bad Company you would know the games modes made those game re playable, no one wants to play only conquest and rush, we want all the classic game modes from the earlier BF games , squad rush , squad deathmatch, domination , conquest small , conquest large , rush , TDM , capture the Flag... most of these new battlefield players never played the classics... Bf3 was the best , had ever play style you can thing of , base game maps, tank maps , close quarters and air maps , no other battlefield game will ever top BF3
@Alex-K94 used to have clan matches all the time in bf3 on squad rush 4v4 was perfect competitive game play. I was hoping bf4 would have it but never got it and that's why competitive battlefield died, no good game mode to support it ,, look up AFO Clan bf3 you'll see all my clan matches up , a few conquest ones but mostly squad rush
First, I just want to say that the algorithm finally recommended a good video for me to watch, so I subscribed. Second, I was looking at the comment thread on the LEGO TH-cam channel. Those bozos don’t have a single clue that literally any video longer than 5 minutes takes weeks or even months to create if you put in time and effort. The same goes for animation. When you watch any SFM video, you might think it’s easy to make one yourself. But the moment you download SFM, you end up watching tutorials for the next 2 hours while your brain overheats like a damn PC, trying to remember all that info most of which you’ll forget in the next few minutes. Anyways, keep up the good work!

I picked it up the other day (for $5), and, the gunplay is neat? I still don’t like specialists looking the same across the only 2 factions. But the balance of gadgets with recon spotting and engineer blowing shit up. Feels, actually Battlefield.
I remember. I was so disappointed after splashing the hard earned cash on it as a youngster, it was so unplayable. Went back to Bf3 for almost a year from memory.
Can't compare BF4 with BF2042, BF2042 in order to be fixed it would need to be re-coded again, remove the ''''specialists'''' and add realistic soldiers, but that is not happening.
apex has its own problems and althogh im a 9 times master i quit playing just not having fun nomore but to the newer players i say have a blast, wish i could see the game apes through new eyes again
I want the cosmetic changes (different uniforms per faction) and the map changes to Alamein and Bulge, and definitely the class changes that limit weapons to a certain class to be added into Battlefield Portal
Doesn't matter how bad you are when you are the only shop in town. DICE is only allowed to fuck up like this, because they have no rival games that are like Battlefield. And even then, with all the improvements the made, 2042 is still the worst Battlefield out there.

It didnt always used to be shit on launch, that was around BF3/4 and that was only for some players. Games never been the same for me since 4. Sat out BF1 and V, really wanted to like 2042 but fuck me three times dice, 2042 radicalized me in many ways since. No way ill pay these crooks until they go back to the original formula.

A lot of people picked up 4 after because they preferred the modern setting, but they sure as shoot weren't "hemorrhaging players" the game was still well populated well into BFV's life
The whole situation with the santa skin is they got themselves into it. Promise "no clown skin", throw a little shade here and there, end up tying themselves. The moment the santa skin leaks (it doesn't hurt to have a little fun), people from the community arms up scare DICE to release anything like that.

Dice didn't make that event. Not at all. Mad Blind Dog, not around anymore, was brought in, and made the event for season 3. A five person team made the event after reading and watching social media streamers and after listening to player based fanfiction on Reddit and discord. So, yes, season three is different and stands out. Mad Blind Dog didn't continue to make more events for Dice, because the team didn't get paid the amount of money they were told to be getting. Mad Blind Dog worked for Cherry for a while helping them design a pool game before leaving. David works for Hulu, James delivers pizza, and Elchoppia works for Twitch.
I have put 1200 hours in so far. I still play BF4 and BF1 regularly, but I still have a lot of fun in 2042. I still get those “battlefield” moments, it scratches the itch. I find the rail gun tank fund to use, and the gunplay feels crisp, at least way better than the state that call of duty is in right now. The game is also comparatively easier than other battlefield titles, which is why I think people hate on it so much. If you go from playing 2042, then hop in a bf4 server, you’re going to get wrecked, I have probably just been playing 2042 way more than it deserves lol. The wingsuit is obnoxious, so are all of the heroes, looking down the hallway and seeing seven FALCKS reviving each other over and over again really takes you out of the immersion. Edit: I literally forgot about portal and hazard zone, and it’s right there in the menu when you open the game…..
People: - Please, save Titanfall - Please, stop adding micro transactions to Apex and fix it - Please, kill BF2042 EA: - Axes Titanfall 3 because Apex is printing money. - Ignores Apex, trying to actively kill it. - Saves BF2042 just until it's good enough, now they can stop supporting it
Never preorder anything. Heck, don't even buy it in the first month or two. 90% games released go on sale after just a month or so, and by then you'll hear if the game is worth buying or not.

I miss 2016 when there was a lot of hope and hype surrounding the Battlefield franchise. BF1 had just come out and it basically revolutionized first person shooters. The problem with Battlefield now is that it's trying to be like Call of Duty. BF1 had significant success marketing itself as a game that doesn't play like Call of Duty. Everyone was tired of Call of Duty when BF1 rolled around. As a longtime fan of the franchise, my personal opinion is that the franchise is dead unless it chooses to be different from Call of Duty and Fortnite. This means that the franchise needs to develop a different way of monetizing their game. Skins are ruining the first-person shooter genre. Battlefield as a franchise is too inconsistent in content updates to make players want to buy any skins from them. They would need to bring content updates at pace with Call of Duty's in order to get that kind of attention and sales for their skins. If EA wants Battlefield to thrive, they need to market the game as a premiere mil-sim first person shooter experience. Double down on the core values of what made the old Battlefield franchise so good. Release map packs with campaign story episodes rather than skins that take away from the immersion of the gameplay experience. Give players a 5 hr campaign mission for each new season. Make the production quality really high for the campaign episodes so they're worth buying. Make it so the customer sees the value of buying the new map pack as buying a new season of Band of Brothers on HBO. That and bring back the bombastic "war is hell" BF1 gameplay experiences. Take inspiration from Call of Duty World at War for your next entry into the franchise when it comes to tone. The perfect Battlefield game to me would be if BF1 + World at War/Black Ops 1 + DOOM Eternal + Helldivers 2 + Space Marine 2 all had a baby. First person shooters were best when they took themselves seriously. Crowning Fortnite king for its success really messed up the video game industry in a bad way. Battlefield could've been so much better than what it is. As a longtime diehard fan, it's pretty demoralizing to see this franchise become what it is today. I hope someday someone looks back on BF2 + Bad Company 1/2 + BF3/4/1's legacy and brings back that amazing feeling of playing a Battlefield game again. I hope that the people who ruined the franchise have left it and don't plan on making video games again. I want FPS games to feel different again. I don't want to play a different version of Fortnite. I just want Call of Duty to be Call of Duty and Battlefield to be Battlefield.
BF1 was literally a step back from BF4 in content and a step forward in presentation. Still a fun game I had a great time in, but if I were given the choice to play one on a fresh account, BF4 has more to offer.

@IlConteSky BFV was good at the end of its life and if it had been allowed to continue in that direction it would have beem completely redeemed imo But 2042 is just so painfully unfun and not battlefield at all that you might as well be playing a different game.

Having played this game since launch it was genuinely such a treat to have them not abandon the game and go above and beyond… which is what they should’ve done from the start but that’s just how gaming is now. To be honest they they absolutely had to do support the game properly to maintain good will because this game was most definitely going to be the last straw.
I’ll never forgive them for taking away the armor lock on grenade. Helis are already so busted and that was the one way you could get them to screw off without changing classes
I took a LONG break from this game after getting duped by COD MW2 and MW3 again. Now between Helldivers and this game I'm actually having a good time with video games again. I really hope the BF devs learned their lesson and make the next BF game as good as the old days (looking at you Bad Company).

i was really excited for the game when i saw all the stuff you could do with the portal options like BF 1942 vs BC2 rules only for them to all but forget it was a thing after the game failed to meet goals.

I pre ordered the game and was so excited for it. The the beta opened up and it was weird. I thought was boring pretty quickly that i quit playing it bedore the beta ended. As the game is now, i am happy enough with it. The player base is one of the biggest drags on the game right now. Lots of useless snipers and no team play.
i bought both bfv and bf2042 for like 4 bucks 3-4 years after they released, and now as mostly finished games they're both great fun. would never buy a game like this new, and the fact that both of the most recent BF titles had their player base peak years after release sure tells you something about the way they handle their development...

Thank god, this isn't a "Battlefield 2042 is good now" video. This game is what it is. The drip feeding and fixing was disgusting. This game personally killed my enjoyment for multiplayer shooters. Cod and battlefield are just not it anymore.

But it is actually good now is it not? The game feels great, my only complaints are stupid looking specialists in a serious war game and lack of new content, shooting feels really good in this game but it could be better(like bf5). Vehicle balance is good i think, except that i cant ever get in a tank for some reason, it was definetely much easier to get yourself a tank or a jet in bf4
I would actually prefer bf5 but like 80% of all the good guns are locked behind medic class for some reason and i love destroying vehicles so it doesnt stack for me kind of

tried playing it the other day... It's still awful. After a couple of hours I uninstalled again.
I did the same when that desert map launched.. Game was running way worse than I remember. Once Battlebit and The Finals came out I have no reason to go back. Even played BF4 a few times this year and it holds up really good! All chat is a riot 😂

this game also has some of the most conceptually broken weapons like the almost hitscan TOR tank and the sniper variant of the railgun
unfortunately 2042 is the game delta force took inspiration from but unlike dice the game is actually structurally sound especially after the removal of AI

I've always kinda liked 2042. Like I understand the hate but not the "its not fun" argument. I've been frustrated, yet consistently having fun with it since the beta. Its battlefield at the end of the day, even the worst and weirdest games in the series are fun

Bro if you really played BF3 and Bad Company you would know the games modes made those game re playable, no one wants to play only conquest and rush, we want all the classic game modes from the earlier BF games , squad rush , squad deathmatch, domination , conquest small , conquest large , rush , TDM , capture the Flag... most of these new battlefield players never played the classics... Bf3 was the best , had ever play style you can thing of , base game maps, tank maps , close quarters and air maps , no other battlefield game will ever top BF3

I was hoping bf4 would have it but never got it and that's why competitive battlefield died, no good game mode to support it ,, look up AFO Clan bf3 you'll see all my clan matches up , a few conquest ones but mostly squad rush
First, I just want to say that the algorithm finally recommended a good video for me to watch, so I subscribed. Second, I was looking at the comment thread on the LEGO TH-cam channel. Those bozos don’t have a single clue that literally any video longer than 5 minutes takes weeks or even months to create if you put in time and effort. The same goes for animation. When you watch any SFM video, you might think it’s easy to make one yourself. But the moment you download SFM, you end up watching tutorials for the next 2 hours while your brain overheats like a damn PC, trying to remember all that info most of which you’ll forget in the next few minutes. It didnt always used to be shit on launch, that was around BF3/4 and that was only for some players. Games never been the same for me since 4. Sat out BF1 and V, really wanted to like 2042 but fuck me three times dice, 2042 radicalized me in many ways since. No way ill pay these crooks until they go back to the original formula.
You missed out on BF1. It was the last BF with a great launch.

A lot of people picked up 4 after because they preferred the modern setting, but they sure as shoot weren't "hemorrhaging players" the game was still well populated well into BFV's life
The whole situation with the santa skin is they got themselves into it. Promise "no clown skin", throw a little shade here and there, end up tying themselves. The moment the santa skin leaks (it doesn't hurt to have a little fun), people from the community arms up scare DICE to release anything like that.

Dice didn't make that event. Not at all. Mad Blind Dog, not around anymore, was brought in, and made the event for season 3. A five person team made the event after reading and watching social media streamers and after listening to player based fanfiction on Reddit and discord. So, yes, season three is different and stands out. Mad Blind Dog didn't continue to make more events for Dice, because the team didn't get paid the amount of money they were told to be getting. Mad Blind Dog worked for Cherry for a while helping them design a pool game before leaving. David works for Hulu, James delivers pizza, and Elchoppia works for Twitch.

I have put 1200 hours in so far. I still play BF4 and BF1 regularly, but I still have a lot of fun in 2042.
I still get those “battlefield” moments, it scratches the itch. I find the rail gun tank fund to use, and the gunplay feels crisp, at least way better than the state that call of duty is in right now. The game is also comparatively easier than other battlefield titles, which is why I think people hate on it so much. If you go from playing 2042, then hop in a bf4 server, you’re going to get wrecked, I have probably just been playing 2042 way more than it deserves lol. The wingsuit is obnoxious, so are all of the heroes, looking down the hallway and seeing seven FALCKS reviving each other over and over again really takes you out of the immersion.
Edit: I literally forgot about portal and hazard zone, and it’s right there in the menu when you open the game…..

I miss 2016 when there was a lot of hope and hype surrounding the Battlefield franchise. BF1 had just come out and it basically revolutionized first person shooters. The problem with Battlefield now is that it's trying to be like Call of Duty. BF1 had significant success marketing itself as a game that doesn't play like Call of Duty. Everyone was tired of Call of Duty when BF1 rolled around.
As a longtime fan of the franchise, my personal opinion is that the franchise is dead unless it chooses to be different from Call of Duty and Fortnite. This means that the franchise needs to develop a different way of monetizing their game. Skins are ruining the first-person shooter genre. Battlefield as a franchise is too inconsistent in content updates to make players want to buy any skins from them. They would need to bring content updates at pace with Call of Duty's in order to get that kind of attention and sales for their skins.
If EA wants Battlefield to thrive, they need to market the game as a premiere mil-sim first person shooter experience. Double down on the core values of what made the old Battlefield franchise so good. Release map packs with campaign story episodes rather than skins that take away from the immersion of the gameplay experience. Give players a 5 hr campaign mission for each new season. Make the production quality really high for the campaign episodes so they're worth buying. Make it so the customer sees the value of buying the new map pack as buying a new season of Band of Brothers on HBO.
That and bring back the bombastic "war is hell" BF1 gameplay experiences. Take inspiration from Call of Duty World at War for your next entry into the franchise when it comes to tone. The perfect Battlefield game to me would be if BF1 + World at War/Black Ops 1 + DOOM Eternal + Helldivers 2 + Space Marine 2 all had a baby. First person shooters were best when they took themselves seriously. Crowning Fortnite king for its success really messed up the video game industry in a bad way. Battlefield could've been so much better than what it is. As a longtime diehard fan, it's pretty demoralizing to see this franchise become what it is today. I hope someday someone looks back on BF2 + Bad Company 1/2 + BF3/4/1's legacy and brings back that amazing feeling of playing a Battlefield game again. I hope that the people who ruined the franchise have left it and don't plan on making video games again. I want FPS games to feel different again. I don't want to play a different version of Fortnite. I just want Call of Duty to be Call of Duty and Battlefield to be Battlefield.

I bought it in Late December for $5 dollars in the PS store and I’m really loving this game! So fun!
Having played this game since launch it was genuinely such a treat to have them not abandon the game and go above and beyond… which is what they should’ve done from the start but that’s just how gaming is now. To be honest they they absolutely had to do support the game properly to maintain good will because this game was most definitely going to be the last straw.

I took a LONG break from this game after getting duped by COD MW2 and MW3 again. Now between Helldivers and this game I'm actually having a good time with video games again. As the game is now, i am happy enough with it. The player base is one of the biggest drags on the game right now. Lots of useless snipers and no team play.
