My dad had a Black Mach 1 that we use to fix up when I was a kid. He use to run the 1/4 mile with his friends. He has since passed on and I've been looking for his Mach 1 forever. This video had me crying like a baby the entire time!

what options did it have? I knew a guy that since passed that had a black Mach 1 but he sold it to some dude in texas years ago and since he passed on now i'd have no idea how to find out anything more about it.

As many people identify old music to memories past people also identify with the cars they owned in their youth. Your parents had a blast in their old Mustang as they knew each other in the beginning of their life together. Selling it I'm sure was met with a tear. But for you all to find, maybe the car or not, one at least just like their old Mustang allows them to be young again! Couldn't have picked any better car to restore than an old Mustang, as parts are very plentiful. I myself have a 69 so I know what it's like to drive around in something that old. Good for all of you that brought a 1970 Mach 1 back into your parents life. They'll make a lot of new memories with it! You all should be very proud!

From the video it doesn't appear that you have the VIN of your Dad's car when he was young. If you used to have a car and kept the VIN there is a web site that with $10.00 you can tell if it's registered someplace in the US. I ran the report on the 69 I bought 2 years ago and learned at least what states it was in prior to me. It went back to the mid 90's. So it's possible to take the VIN of the 1970 you bought and learn more about it's history. Keep in mind as well that these old Mustangs had options added and removed by previous owners. Since you don't have the original VIN it's still possible that your Dad's car in his youth had things added or removed before he owned it. The story of the 1970 is a cool one!

I own a 70 Mach 1 that sounds just like that description. I MEAN EXACTLY LIKE THAT car and I have the Marti report to prove it. Per my Marti Report mine is that same green paint, green interior, 351, Close ratio 4 speed, with shaker, with AC, power disc brake, but standard wheel and hubcaps. Its possible the rims are not original or even dealer installed. Dealer installed rims were common especially on Mach 1s that were delivered almost exclusively with fake "simulated" mag rim hub caps. The big question I couldn't verify was his original car a 2v or 4v engine. Picture of the engine going back in looks like it has an aftermarket holly carb. Was it a 2v originally and rebuilt with a holly 4v?? In any case the group of cars with those options ignoring only the rims and 2v or 4v would still be a very small pool.

Mark was my uncle, and outside of my Dad and this Mach 1, he was hugely instrumental in my passion for cars. He also loved mustangs (Shelbys specifically), but he always pushed me to care about the details, learn the production numbers, etc. He passed away unexpectedly a couple of years ago. He was an old school street racer in California - he had a pieced together 65 GTO with a 389 and tri-power and was out there when Big Willie was street racing his Daytona. He was a neat guy.

With the combination of 3 production vehicles and the location in which you found it the fact that it had power brakes would not be enough for me to think this is not the correct car. Reason I say this is the car had obviously been apart to paint and change the interior color. It is possible the brakes system was changed over time due to a change in camshaft that effected vacuum production rendering the power brakes useless, or any other strange possibility. I have changed vehicles from power to manual and vise versa for a number of applications and reasons over the years. Those parts are a simple bolt on.

Awesome story. Such an amazing thing to do for your parents. I'm a Texas Country/Americana Singer/songwriter. I have a song on my new album about my brother's 1970 Metallic Green Mach 1. I was wondering if I could connect to see if you'd share some of your videos or images to help my finish my music video. I can email you the song. I'm on twitter at @johndeeryband

Highway Tune by Greta Van Fleet. their first song, they were 14/18 at the time. they get a lot of backlash for sounding like Led Zeppelin but i could care less they sound great af, however their newer album sounds less like Led Z, and seems to be finding their own sound. and most if not all their songs are great! check them out!!

Spoiler alert ! I hate to rain on anybody's parade but this is too much of a co-ink-kee-dink to pass up. Check out the
fella that has the " My life " channel. If there ever was a ' Stang that matches your earlier description, . .he has it.
Shaker hood, manual brakes, A/C, hand cranks, 351C 2V but auto ! Same color. But it has been pirated and is in rough
shape and he also got the Marti Report for it. Oh and NO louvers either but factory stripe. OMG they could be cousins.

Rookie restoration who leaves the interior and the side windows in a car when you're doing a color change and I hope they took all that yellow paint off since they're going to all that trouble of going down to 5000 Grit wet sand.

Good story but I hate phone videos in the vertical it just limits the view if you'd turn it horizontal you can see sooooo much more.
Only reason I can't thumbs up (no I won't thumbs down for that minor technicality) just wanna see the car not bit by bit.
