    This video brougt back fond memories. Had one similar to this in High school in the early 70's. Medium blue 351C 4speed rear spoiler ramair with hood stripes with 351 callout.Main difference it was a standard sportsroof. Don't know if that was rare or not but have never since seen a non Mach 1 optoned this way.

    The real question is Have you ever went back to the old man's house to just visit, or after buying the cars hadn't went back to visit your old friend.

      Yes, we see him regularly. This is not the only car we have bought from him and we are currently restoring one of his Torinos so he can drive it again after sitting for 25 years. We may be a dealer, but we care about our customers and clients and as car guys, we are just as passionate about the cars as the owners.

    • @minidragger2254
      @minidragger2254 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That's good. It's nice to know there are dealers out there who don't only see the mighty dollar as #1. Lots of these cars have a story that go with them and that's why some owners struggle to get rid of them. Sounds like you and the previous owner have a good relationship and for that I congratulate you, conducting business like you did with the older gentlemen will only bring more business your way.

    Your video has brought back some fond memories.
    At age 21, I went to work full-time at my dad's car business in 1974 (he started the business in 1958). The business was located just outside Knoxville, Tn. My dad had been a NASCAR fan since the mid fifties, so his interest as well as mine, was in all the performance vehicles being put out by Detroit...Fords in particular. Many early and mid 60's and early and mid 70's Mustang GTs, Mach1s, Galaxie 500 XLs, Fairlane GTs, Cyclone GTs, Torino GTs, passed through our hands ...As well as GTXs, Road Runners, Challengers, Cudas, Super Bees, 340 Dusters, SS Impalas, SS Camaros, SS Chevelles, Corvettes, Buick GSs, Trans AMs, etc. ....Like you, we were constantly looking for those 'special' vehicles anywhere around the southeast where they could be found....And many of them were still available in nice original condition in those days...
    Thanks for sharing your experience ....and giving me a place to share part of mine.

    I just watched a video yesterday a guy close by me in East Tennessee pulled his dads old 70 Mach1out of the field/woods to bring it back to life same color as that Mach1. His dad passed away suddenly 3 months ago. The car has sat for 33 years the back half has been primered red oxide. Floor pans are gone but frame is okay. I believe the channel nameis My life.

    My car growing up was a 70 Mach 1. Same color, 351 w 4 speed, louvers. Needed new floor panels. Got a bunch of Ford performance parts at a swap meet. Boss 302 cam and lifters. Ported 70 heads alum Ford intake. Real fun on Woodward

    Just to confirm the three speed issue. I had a '70 Mach 1 in high school and college which was a 351 Windsor three speed. No power steering, no power brakes. It was a beast to parallel park!

    • @autobreza7131
      @autobreza7131 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct… Three speed manual was standard. Most manuals were ordered for dealer stock as 4 speeds. But if you ordered a Mustang and wanted the low first gear for racing (for example), or you were going to swap in a stronger or special transmission, or wanted to save a few bucks, then you retained the standard 3 speed trans. My friend back in the day had a three speed manual Mach 1 351W and no one could beat him off the stoplight.

    In 69 + 70 I worked at a Ford dealer I was 18 and 19 at the time washing cars and prepping for the salesman. One day we got a car exactly like that one same color 351 4-speed louvers spoilers shaker hood Magnum 500 Wheels. I totally fell in love that car but I wasn't making enough to buy it. Three years later when I came home from Vietnam and leave I went back to the dealership and asked if they had any Mach ones. Salesman said no soon as we get them in they sell right away. So I bought one from a young girl who listed in the local newspaper. Lime green 351 4-speed shaker wood louvers and spoilers. I was 22 at the time I am 70 now and still own the car. Still Sports its original paint job it looks really great and runs like a Swiss watch. I have the original Factory invoice for it. But I've come down with Parkinson's and don't know if I can enjoy the car anymore I may just give it to my son. I absolutely love that car.

    Unfortunately that ignition problem is a common issue with old Fords :-( And anybody who thinks 3 speed manuals didn't happen doesn't know what they're talking about. 3 speeds were standard & 4 speed manual was an option. Finding Vintage Autos....I have a 1970 Mach 1 that I bought 37 years ago at a price so low in comparison to the current market price, I’m a little bit embarrassed and hesitant to mention it when people inquire about the price I paid. It’s a driver because I feel like Ford built them to be driven...often and hard. The cheese and wine crowd have their concourse trophy winning trailer queens and I’m okay with that. But Mustangs that haven’t been driven in 20 years because they are winched on and off of a trailer have something in common with Mustangs that

    • @danielwilson6665
      @danielwilson6665 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oops...damn tiny cell phone keys. As I was saying, the Mustang show cars that are never driven have something in common with Mustangs that are left parked in a barn or a field for 20 years. In regards to their original intended purpose they are being neglected. Imagine they were born with pride and a big pair of balls and somewhere along the line they were castrated which made them shells of their former glory.
      There’s plenty of barn find stories nowadays and the most interesting also includes details about the engine and drivetrain. If you mentioned the engine in your story I must have missed it. My Mach 1 came from the factory with the 351 Cleveland 4-V ( M code) engine and FMX transmission the standard 9”, 3.25:1 differential. It’s Grabber Blue and has the optional Shaker Scoop Ram Air induction system along with the Sport Slats (louvers) on the rear window.
      The Marti Report helped me to verify all of the options on my car. My Mustang hasn’t been wasting away in a barn for decades. I keep it in my climate controlled shop. If you happen to ride by someday when the door is open, come on in and have a cup of coffee. You never know what might happened so bring cash 💰.

      Kyle Van Tassel haha, good analogy! We respect the passion for cars and sellers usually share that too. In this case, the car had been sitting for decades unused so it was time to get it back on the road, the owner had lots of cars and saw the value of selling one that was sitting there deteriorating otherwise.

    I bought a 70 Mach 1 in a bronze and black color, from a Ford dealer in 1974. Traded in a '66 GTO. Was sold to me as a 4 speed,I test drove it,came back and told the salesman that the shifter/trans was messed up, could not get it into first gear. He assured me they would fix it,so bought the car. Long story short, it was a three speed!

    Sometimes it is hard to get a deal done! Back in 1985 I tried to buy a 1969 Lemans Blue RS/Z28 from a local guy! An original Southern California car! I would talk to him a couple of times a year every year about the car. Each and every time he would say no and I would go home disappointed! One day in 2005 I was walking in to the local Safeway and the old guy was walking out! He said I have decided to sell my Camaro if you want it it is yours. Well needless to say after 20 years of wanting it I got the deal done! There is another RS Z I know about that I have been after since 1978 and the guy always says no way will I ever sell it! It's been 42 years now so I guess that deal might never get done! Who knows! He is in his early 70's and the car hasn't ran in more than 30 years just sitting there in an old garage!
