    I am forty-five years old and just this month or next I will be splitting the cases on an engine for the first time so that I can get my very first motorcycle put together so i can ride a motorcycle for the very first time! Never stop learning new things and growing! Killer work man, you did awesome on this job.

    lol , no one else saw that the crankshaft is bent when he rotated it ?
    really good rebuild.
    you would not had been able to separate the crank rollers, unless you have a press machine.
    to put them back the same way, just get 2 style pipes to match the size whole [ preferably a snug fit ] then press them on.
    awesome video !!
    1000 thumbs up !!

    Easier way to fit cranks is too freeze the crank beforehand. That way they litteraly slot in place. Try avoid hitting crank shafts as I hear it can knock them out of true.
    Either way keep it up buddy

    Might I suggest a crank pulling/installation tool. Much easier and less jarring. I give you much credit for doing all this. Gives me hope for the younger generation.

    You should watch a tutorial about how to mount an engine. To fit in a bearring you heat the aluminium and freeze the bearrings and then throw the bearring in it's place. Not smashing the bearring into the hole, uou can damage both

    Put the bearings on the crank only tapping the inner race gently and evenly untill it's seated, then heat the crankcase slowly around the bearing housing with a blowlamp. I used to spit on it and if the spit boiled off straight away that's hot enough then drop the crank with bearing into the housing.

    Use a heat gun to expand the bearing seats also freeze the bearings and use a smear of grease it's painful watching you smash this engine together!

    Hi Mason, great videos dude. I'm doing up a 1975 TS185 currently over in Australia and just about to tackle the engine rebuild. Where'd you get the exploded engine diagrams? This will also be my first rebuild, rather intimidating going into it without those. Keep up your good work, very enjoyable TH-cam content. Thanks, Marcus.

    Where were the best places you found parts? I have a ‘73 ts250 I’m looking at restoring , nothing major I just need a new tank the old ones rusted pretty bad inside , and I think it might be wise that I replace the piston or find new rings for the original one , compression isn’t too bad but it’s sitting on the low side at 70 psi

    I know that this isn't a Subaru video, but I've sent an email over to IA Performance and they say that they can do opensource tunes via email when you send them logs, I'd suggest looking into them a little bit because their customer is top tier and they aren't happy with the tune till the logs are i.e. 5 separate tunes is not uncommon from them. But like I said I'll see what they say about NA-t opensource tunes, if they do it they will be able to help you out and get my 71hta forged 253-257 hybrid running and shooting flames.

    JB Weld will fail, and it is a real pain to clean it all off in order to TIG weld it. TIG weld will make it as good as new and is a permanent repair.

  • @oddis188
    @oddis188 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You really shouldn't hit the bearings with a hammer in... It would have cost maybe 5-10$ to go with the parts to a repair shop and ask them to press them in...

    • @tjarsun
      @tjarsun 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dirtygarageguy They are made to withstand forces from the same plane that they rotate, hitting it from one of the faces put's the force on the rim's edge risking making dents that could grow into a bend where a ball can come out and destroy everything.

    Sort your camera out man! I dont like the way the video cuts off like that. Some ppl watch your video in order to learn themselves.. with huge chunks of the rebuild missing, its a dissapointment. The way you work is also like youre racing through it like you just want to get it out of the way... Or maybe doing a rush job because youre racing against the camcorders battery life?
    I feel sorry for the person who eventually buys that bike from you haha. I fully understand that one has to learn, but that should be more the reason to slow down and figure it out properly

    Don't just hammer those bearings in, do some research and learn properly before you show people how to do something.
    You should be heating the casings and leaving the bearings in the freezer before fitting them.
    I'll be surprised if you haven't damaged the casing or bearings to some degree.
