Your logic on sales to stock up is good. So many budget eats videos urge people to stock up as their budget allows. It's not going to happen overnight, but even $5 extra to spend on pantry stock ups will eventually add up. The people who are against your methods need to understand that not everyone's way of stocking up is a one-size-fits all method. Thank you for your videos over the years. Please keep them coming. Times are going to get harder before they get better. 😢
I would love to see a video on how to freeze things properly. What do you keep in original packaging vs in a ziploc bag? What vegetables do you blanch first? How long are things good in the freezer?
Re: Honeycrisp Apples - our area grows apples, and the Honeycrisp are the first trees to bloom - and a hard frost killed most of the blossoms in 2021. So we had Honeycrisp available for like the first two weeks of apple season, most damaged but normally priced, and then the prices shot through the roof. EARLY flowering apple types were affected, so that's something you might want to research to see what options you might like from later in the season.
I have seen prices on our staple items go up 40-50%. I'm so thankfully I had stocked up on ground beef when I found a great deal on it a few months ago. And thanks to hunting season we have a decent amount of venison to help us get through this craziness.
I also try to plan dinners based on what I’ve stockpiled. Usually, most of my budget goes into sale items and good deals on things I can freeze. The rest goes towards fresh produce.
I’m so jealous of all the incredible deals you come across. For one I wish I had a discount grocery store cause I’d go every time I shopped. But because of you I’m def gonna pay better attention when I’m in stores to see if I can find good discount deals. I hope you do more of these videos in the future!
She's good at what she does. 😅 I live in the same area and I can't seem to score the same deals that she does!! (I also don't usually drive as far because I've got some younger kids which makes it hard.)
@@Skyesoceaneyes same!! I too live in Idaho and don’t see half the deals she does. However I will say, I’m a little skeeved out by Best Buy / use by dates especially on bread lol I see bread mold before the exp: date so I can’t bring myself to purchase out of date bread 😬
@@OoThereSheGo That makes sense to me. I'm afraid we're a little picky with bread so some of those loaves might never get eaten, especially when they are a little stale and then would have to be frozen. You have to know what your family will eat because no matter how good a deal it is, it is still a waste if no one eats it.
Love this! I’d love to also know how you organize and handle your long term food storage. How do you prevent yourself from filling it and then forgetting what you have and ending up with expired items? This is my big fear with really investing in a long term supply!
That does seem like a lot of work, but Christine seems to keep up with it. Not sure, but she seems to just take a look at what she has stored and frozen, on a regular basis, and rotate stuff up to her pantry.
I really Like when you do the meal prep/ clean out the pantry meals. It’s really helpful with inflation happening. I also Love Kroger stores! They have the best deals imo.
I just want to say I am sooooo jealous of the bread deals you find! I have Celiac Disease, so I can't have regular bread anymore, and to buy gluten free bread at the store is EXPENSIVE! I live in the middle of no where in Missouri, so we don't have any discount stores that would have such awesome deals. Thanks for continuing to make fantastic videos!

Sales tax is crazy. In FL, we don't have tax on food, unless it's hot. WE also don't have state taxes . It's crazy how every state is different. I love the Bolthouse dressing ❤
I wish I had a bread store and clearance store. Great deals 🤗 No one should fault you for using pantry items 🤔not understanding that? I think people meal plan first and then go to the store.....that's the mistake. Shop your pantry, shop your fridge, and then check your flyers..... only get what is on sale at the store .... combination of the three- that's how I meal plan.... whatever is on sale or clearance and what I have on hand. And like you.....if it is on sale or clearance... and is something we use a lot....get one for now and a few for later 🤗 thank you very much for sharing 😀❤️
Why do people get upset if you use items that were bought already for the week before or the month before? Saving on the grocery budget has to be planned and thought out. Today I will be out for a hair cut and as I am near three stores I can buy food at, I will have fun seeing what sales they may have for me. I have a little apartment freezer that has some room in it so will hopefully find treasures to fill those spots. It's a form of investment, invest now to save later. later being next week, next month, and when I spend on food next time it can have cost savings as I maybe have that investment to fill in holes. Thank you Christine for all your videos, they are enjoyable to watch and we learn a thing or two.
These prices are impressive! I've searched for a discount food store in my area but we don't seem to have them unfortunately :( one thing I have started though is looking for those sale racks at my main stores. Typically there's a bakery rack with some discount bread, rolls and baked goods! Thanks for a good video!
Newsflash: Just because you aren't organised doesn't give you the right to have a go at Christine because she is. Also don't come at me saying you don't have $100 for stocking up. No one said you had to. Start with 1 or 2 items each time you shop and build from there. I'm sure Christine didn't always have a huge basement and multiple fridges and freezers. It's not a competition.
I always enjoy your grocery haul vids, thanks! That discount bread haul - OMGsh!!!!! And yep, I shop mainly at Aldi, and aprx 50% of my always-buy items have gone up at least 25-35%.
I love these videos, some of my favorites. I belong to a lot of Facebook groups, recipe, grocery and budget groups mainly. A lot of people don't stock up. A large majority of people shop weekly, biweekly or monthly and are stuck in that thinking. I think that's where the comments about you using stock up items shouldn't count. I have a budget for grocery shopping but I also have an allowance for things I didn't plan for that are a really good deal. A vast majority say well pork is on sale but that's not in my plan for the week. Oh no, if porks not in the plan, the plan is changing or I'm using my extra $$ to put it in the freezer.
If I did this challenge this month would of been sooo off because I spent $550 on my fruit and veg CSA (community sponsored agriculture) for the summer. The one I purchased is for 16 weeks of locally grown organic produce picked up weekly but you pay now when the farmer is spending their money prepping for the growing season. It seems expensive but then you realize it is 35 per box and the boxes average out to a value of 45 or more for farmers market produce.
Thank you for all that you do!! You have made me very aware what we eat! I'm trying to incorporate more veggies. I now buy salads on sale at my local dillons. I did spend more this month for my stockpile but totally worth it. Groceries are crazy here. Last week I bought chili beans for .58 now in one week up to .68 I really hope that I am prepared if something happens. I do have lots of crackers! There is virtually no pasta here.
I wish we had a discount grocery store, I would be in my glory!!! I love getting a great deal, here in British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦 food is expensive! For example, you paid 8.00 for 4 pounds of butter, I pay 5.69 for one pound! a dozen eggs costs 4.29 a pound of bacon is around 5.00 and cheese is ridiculous! a 800 gr pack of cheddar cheese cost me 13.00 and I’m a cheese head! I love cheese, bread is on average 4 to 4.50 per loaf
I have had a really long day. Not a bad one, just a long one, and then I come home, and find this good length grocery haul, to just calm down with, eat my evening meal with and just have a little good me time with Christine 🥰 Thank you for sharing, and I love the sum up grocery haul videos 🥰 Food prices and other things is also going up, just paid significantly more for several things today. Love love love the Quaker oatmeal squares!!! I remember when they used to be 2 for $5....not any more ;) Love you and your family! Thanks for the videos :)
I love your "mad" math skills!!! 😆 I wish there was a Kroger affiliate store in NE FL. It's basically Aldi's, Wal-Mart, Winn Dixie and Publix. Your clearance hauls make me so jealous. I'm very happy that you can score deals for your large family. Boys can eat you out of house and home. Been there, done that. You are an absolute blessing to watch. You entertain me and crack me up!!!
@@elizabethbednarcik3311 I would too. My nearest Aldi is 45 minutes away, but I've seen most prices there stay nearly unchanged so I go at least monthly.
We drive out to a dairy twice a year and buy our butter and block cheese in bulk and freeze it. We end up only spending about $25/yr on butter, including Christmas baking.
Christine, I love your channel so much! I've been watching for a while now but, I finally took your advice and cruised the clearance racks at Fred Meyer today. I totally scored a ton of clearance meat and bread that will go into my freezer. They also had asparagus on a digital coupon for 87 cents. I even got a double pack of Sealy bed pillows on clearance for $15. Thank you for always bringing great advice, recipes, and laughs my way!
You should pick a couple of us to represent different areas and prices like email a list of groceries and see what it cost us here. I could do Florida!!!
Our family lives in Washington State and have a several dietary restrictions. Would love to see a budget for those with dietary restrictions! I would be happy to share ours.
My dad loves the kings Hawaiian Sliced bread but it's so expensive we usually don't splurge for it but today I managed to find some on clearance and ibotta had a $1 back. I was so excited to get it for less than a dollar.
Christine- you must share what “discount” store you shopped at the beginning of this video! I thought I knew about ALL the best places to shop in Idaho Falls- apparently I don’t! I will be stopping in at Fred Meyer more often too. Thanks!!!
We always buy meat in bulk from a butcher shop. Also, I was recently told, people don't always pickup their meat from a processor, so the price will be lower.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I spent $245 at the grocery store yesterday.. for just my husband and I.. for this week 😥 we eat mainly whole foods/fresh ingredients and virtually nothing goes into the trash. The total blows my mind every time! Also my store NEVER has clearance stickers on anything
I totally feel you we like to eat fresh foods too. Try shopping at different stores. I tend to go to international stores for my meat and produce. And for clearance stuffs I noticed sometimes different markets have more clearance items then others like the vons and Ralph in my area so I go in for whatever on the sale ad and just do a perimeter walk for clearance items. Also hit up the 99cent store you find some good stuff. I've gotten oat milk. Kombucha. Beyond meat and more
@@yammachanv88 I definitely buy/eat my fair share of snacks too, but they're cheap! My target even barely has clearance stickers.. it's awful. But I think it's because living in NH, stores are more spaced out so when you're saving at different stores you're spending in gas. It's all good though -- just SUPER jealous of Christine's hauls!! So amazing 😊 I'm going to keep an eye out for new stores and stickers!
I prefer to eat 80% wholefoods but fortunately I live in South East Asia where produce is cheap otherwise my fruit budget would be extravagant. I also eat what's available seasonally mostly. If I see a reduced sticker here it is on processed foods.
The strawberry chocolate chip Kodiak cakes are AWESOME (highly recommend you make waffles)! I get them whenever they're available in the Misfits Box. OMG I laugh just like you laughed after showing off the bread haul. It's such a rush! Also in the same boat with cleaning out freezers while simultaneously stocking up.
I can’t find a discount store by me. So sad (: I will keep looking. I do have an Aldi and Walmart near me besides a Jewel (Albertsons I think). Also dollar tree. So I am blessed with many choices. Also wish I had a bread outlet. I am disabled and can’t drive so it is difficult to travel too far. I may try thrive market and have things delivered. Thanks for all you do. You are inspiring!
Great video as usual! I don’t understand people commenting that it’s not fair to use from your stockpile. Isn’t that the point of stockpiling when you can afford it in previous months or when stuff is on clearance or sale? How is it not a real budget? I’m very confused that you received comments like that. As your circumstances change, so should your budget. And, you should always make your meal plan to use up items before the expire.
hearing you are at $168 for the first week makes me feel better about my budget. I am always frustrated that I am just over 100 for my family every week. But prices are VERY different now than they were.
I shop the same way you do. I am not sure I know anyone who eats exactly what they buy each week and does not have any left over for the next.... Buy on sale stock up and eat what's on sale the way I was raised.
We are struggling with our grocery budget (just 2 adults now) since my husband was diagnosed with diabetes. I used to be able to cook anything and now we are feeling much more constrained. We also like to eat out--just because we are so busy working (mostly from home) and I don't enjoy cooking as much as I did when the kids were home. Suggestions on best ways to afford the massive amounts of protein/produce that we are now using (can't use potatoes, rice, pastas etc now)? I feel really stuck and the grocery store is killing me, ha! TIA.
What people need to understand is that your grocery budget for a month is spent on a METHOD of food shopping that results in lower grocery cost overall and over time. It's not self-contained in a month (because that's not the most cost-effective way to grocery shop). You use what you already have in your fridge, pantry, and freezer, so you can focus your grocery budget for that month on getting the best deals possible to set you up for future months (and filling in with fresh items for the current month). It would be silly to "count" food you already own because you've already counted those foods in a previous month's budget.
Those Schweid and sons burgers are amazing. They are me and my husband's favorite burgers. everytime they are clearanced out we get them. Also, People!! of course you have stuff from previous months. we dont' use EVERYTHING in the same month and who doesn't stock up when things are on sale? ugh. People need to chill the Eff out. In order to eat on a budget, you gotta get things when they are on sale to not pay more later.
Love the deal on bread ! I am spoiled by the bread outlet in our area and can no longer purchase full priced bread in a grocery store. I tried a new to me bread outlet on the other side of my city which several folks suggested to me but nope I will stick with mine which is 2 towns over. The price is so low it makes up for the small amount of gas I spend plus is a nice ride.
Are you planning to add things up over the whole year and average it out? I’d be curious because of the freezer full of beef. I know it’s hard to calculate that all out. My husband thinks that instead of adding up my spending for the year, I should also factor in inventory.
Awesome video!! Thankful for your grocery haul videos and meal plans. The grocery prices are super ridiculous! I have had friends post on their FB with pics...products that have tripled on price! Thank you for your helpful tips!
I think it's great for people to include prices for ingredients that they already have. Also you can omit the prices from foods that'll left in your pantry. It's extra work for the content producer to calculate prices not for purchased items, but for the used ingredients, but it would be great service for us viewers!
One of my favorite things to use Bisquick for is what I have leftover taco meat I put it in the bottom of a pie pan put some green chilies in it on it and then mix one cup of milk two eggs and two cups of Bisquick pour it over it let it bake and when it's done when the knife comes out clean and put your favorite taco seasonings or add-ons on it tomatoes lettuce sour cream all that good stuff and it's a wonderful taco pie and a good way to use up leftover taco meat

Great job!!! This discount store is amazing...wish I had something similar to this near me!
I got my discount store the other day and while I found a bunch of good deals, my best find was 3# of Butterball ground turkey for $5.
@@Skyesoceaneyes 100% agree :)
Oh don’t doubt it lol she ends up with expired items on occasion but that doesn’t stop Christine 🤣🤣 she uses it all right up ♥️
Bisquick sausage balls. Make and keep in freezer to warm up for quick breakfast. Recipe online. Just bisquick, cheddar cheese, milk, and sausage. Yum
I really Like when you do the meal prep/ clean out the pantry meals. It’s really helpful with inflation happening. I also Love Kroger stores! They have the best deals imo.
Awesome job! This is very similar to the way I shop. I buy when items are on sale and avoid paying full price for items.
I miss watching watching you so much, even though I live alone, I am back to see your amazing hauls! You really are in my top 5 fave 💓 You Tubers! YOU ROCK!
You made my day 👍 If I had to declutter my TH-cam subscriptions according to the Konmari method, I would definitely keep you.
Thank you! 😁
Lol! The mini bagels are always around $5 (or more) in CA. I never buy them unless they're at Grocery Outlet for half or less!
You are so lucky to have these discount stores in your area.....there are NONE near me. Believe me, I've looked!
I'm jealous. You can actually find pasta in stock at Walmart??? Mine has been out of the cheaper pasta for months.
I love having a lot of frozen veggies in my freezer, they are a great way to bulk up any meal especially rice, noodles or soups!!!
😢
I have had a really long day. Not a bad one, just a long one, and then I come home, and find this good length grocery haul, to just calm down with, eat my evening meal with and just have a little good me time with Christine 🥰
Thank you for sharing, and I love the sum up grocery haul videos 🥰 Food prices and other things is also going up, just paid significantly more for several things today.
Love and blessings from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴
Thank you for reminding me how much I love oatmeal squares.
Love love love the Quaker oatmeal squares!!! I remember when they used to be 2 for $5....not any more ;) Love you and your family! Thanks for the videos :)
I love your "mad" math skills!!! 😆
I wish there was a Kroger affiliate store in NE FL.
I’ll trade you my Kroger for your ALDIs
@@elizabethbednarcik3311 I would too. My nearest Aldi is 45 minutes away, but I've seen most prices there stay nearly unchanged so I go at least monthly.
I stretch what I can in groceries, and you’re so helpful Christine. Thanks and you are so cool
Thanks for sharing how you end up getting so much for your moneys worth at the grocery store
Thanks!!!
Big deal outlet
If your spending $400 a month , every month, your sticking to your budget. We stock up every month as we are weekly shopping. You go girl!
*you're
We always buy meat in bulk from a butcher shop. Also, I was recently told, people don't always pickup their meat from a processor, so the price will be lower.
I budget 400 a month for my family of 3. I do stock pile, but I don't have a discount store near me. Love your enthusiasm!
Bisquik Impossible pies--the cheeseburger is a favorite of my adult son. Bacon is good, too--all kinds of these.
One of the smartest and more informative videos. I do the exact same thing. Do another one like this!!
Went to Costco in Melbourne, Australia 3 days ago. Prices going up here as well. Ground beef sold out. $50+ per slab of rump steak.
I wish we had a discount store like you visit in Missouri...have never seen Kodiak mixes for 75 cents
In Arizona, Albertsons/Safeway has Pasta Roni and Rice a Roni for $0.27 each (limit 4). I used mine, and my sons loyalty cards to stock up!
hearing you are at $168 for the first week makes me feel better about my budget.
When I was a kid, my babysitter made the greatest pizza crust using Bisquick. I wish I remembered how she made it.
My kids love the Pasta Roni Angel Hair with Herbs. They call it white spaghetti :)
I agree when items are 5 to 10 dollar each it adds up fast.
I get you. I'm eating from the pantry/freezer and stocking up also.
I’m in Australia, and those cliff bars are like $3.50 EACH. 10 for $1 is nuts!
I really wish we had these discount stores near me. We have aldis and lidl within driving distance but nothing like your discount store.
It would be silly to "count" food you already own because you've already counted those foods in a previous month's budget.
deli meat is astronomically high; my hubby always wants the Boarshead brand!!
I love these month long hauls with totals!
Those brisket burgers are SO good! Definitely haven’t ever set my grill on fire with them, though.
I like the birthday cake Quest bar, but they're $4 each here ... they go on special occasionally for $2
I miss our bread outlet.. they haven't opened back up since covid
Yup. Aaaand we just had some major floods let alone what is happening in Europe
I love your grocery hauls.. They are real, cause you buy some convenience foods! Hello, we all buy them! Yes I like to cook from scratch, but we all need some convenience foods! You just show us how to do it frugally!!! Thanks so much!
I’m starting month three of my pantry challenge. I’m definitely getting creative, but having a lot of fun using things up.
