    I really like Waves CLA and Plugin Alliance SSL 400E but I respect and will learn from any other opinion.

    How blessed are we?! I use the bx 4000E all the time, but what a time to be alive to have any of these at our fingertips!
    Great video! ❤️🙏🏻

    They all sound great. I would like to see the same comparison video with the CPU window up to compare how the CPU spikes respond to each plugin if that is possible. Greatly appreciate your hard work nonetheless,, thank you.

    I am feeling the SSL Native Channel Strip. It has a nice tight punch with a very transparent sound.

      I had exactly the same. the SSL came on and it was an immediate "YES!". All the others sound good, but not as good as the SSL version by SSL

  • @davidgroeneveld1382
    @davidgroeneveld1382 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    SSL for sure. I was expecting the most audible differences to be in the drum demos but the bass showed a lot more difference. All sound quite similar, except for the SSL which really stands out. More even, more "stable" for lack of a better word.

    THE BX 4000 E AND 9000 J KILLS THE GAME! They sound about 90% like Hardware!!

    Best arrangement I have seen for multi plugin comparison..... SSL Native IMO ...it was most tonal with out artifacts .... I own most you tested...... including SSL Native....👍

    Thank you so much for this. I picked up the IKMM White Channel yesterday, after watching this video I decided I needed the Waves SSL E Channel. Luckily for me, Waves has a sale on now. Result!

    Thanks for sharing.
    One thing I suggest you should match the processing order.
    EQ before Compression or EQ after Compression.
    theses all plugins are different default setting.
    ex)
    CLA mixhub default EQ > Compression
    brainworx default Compression > EQ

    They are all very subtle in their comparison to each other & the average listener will not hear the difference or even care. They are the ones buying, downloading or listening!👂If I was going to spend my $$ it would be on the SSL native. They are the ones who made the original hardware. 👍

    I have to retract my statement...been using the bx 4000 G alot....dmmmmm thats got to be the best strip out there....

  • @monkeyxx
    @monkeyxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That was so incredibly helpful, great shootout, bravo. Waves OG I don't know. Waves CLA MixHub had the fattest bass end on the drums and bass. UAD are always good and crisp sounding, well balalnced. BX a little thicker, I liked the G here. BX 9000 sounds super hifi with a subtle color, love that. The Duende Native is the cleanest of all of them, if you want that, crystalline, etched. Also incredibly expensive compared to the others. IK I'm not sold on, but the White sounds a little crisper than the black. Thanks again.

      @johnisrael5183 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats all I use on mix bus as far as strip....3 different Gs all set on different channels...but set the same....bx4000 G and UAD Legacy....are the 2 best ot there....

    I hear on this and all other comparison videos that the brainworks sounds over compressed but seems like its one of the favorites for many people. Maybe only me. Uad best for me, waves similar but less clear sound. All are good generally and very usable.😊 (except the t rack.. not for me)
    Thanks for the video!

    Ssl 9000 is really the same as it's hardware this strip is awesome and you can realise the difference easily

  • @ProGoTones

    brainworx seems to have an “awe” freq bump (~1k?) that isn’t present in mixhub, waves E, or IK. A mix context would be your true test. All highly useable. I’m sure the compressors all react differently as well. Again, all useable tools to add color/vibe. My vote would be on which have quality oversampling and/or mitigate aliasing at 96k w/o interfering with basic algorithm.

    Great Comparison, the only ones I feel you missed were the Softube Console 1 versions the SSL SL 4000 E-Series and the SSL XL 9000 K-Series, still this was a great comparison thanks for doing this! 👍For me it was the UAD E Channel and the BX_Console 9000j for vibe, but also dug the SSL Native ChannelStrip as well, they are all pretty solid and would do the job!

    Hi. Great content. Thank you for all the work behind this. I got the brainworx 4000 E and G plus the Focusrite SC recently and I think the 9000 brings nothing new too exciting new to the palette for me. With all those endless numbers of channel strips in plugin form I ask myself if that makes so much sense having too many. I mean some engineers are mixing mainly on one single console for ages. Who has multiple real units for several 100.000 bucks in his studio? And it goes the rumor that you can do a nice mix on any console /plugin if you know how. I'm curious about what you think about that. Cheers

      Im not the guy that made the video but to me having different ones is about having different sonic palettes available. Like how a painter has different paintbrushes and color sets. To me the 9000J sounds.. taller? Than the 4000, and has a different type of feel to the compression. I did my own experiment with the 4000 vs 9000 putting both on the same drum loop and after matching the compressor settings the 9000 was more open and let it sit a little bit differently in the mix. It wasn't as aggressive, but had more clarity.

      He dont know, he just got all the SLL editions and loaded them in a track. Just listen the voice test. It's sound horrible. He only do this for grow his channel, he dont know how to EQ.
      And to answer, you dont need all the plugins. Default plugins are good enough to do everything. You can spend some money for waves plugins if you want. They are leader on the market because they work well and don't use a lot of CPU. But wait the sales (like right now).

    • @nichttuntun3364
      @nichttuntun3364 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@18CC hmmm, I think it is work to set this up and level match. It is not important that those examples sound *good * as it's more important that they share a basic setting for comparison. It's often enough to run audio through them to recognize what they do in basic tone and how they differ. I wouldn't go so far too say he can't EQ. A console strip has become a very important tool in my routine now and I only doubted of one need to much. I said this because it's quintessential to know your tools exactly to work with them and the more you have the harder it gets to choose between them. I also don't think that stock plugins do the same job as there are too many behavoir and tones from vintage emulation. And I think special plugins like very good emulations are not so easily replicated by stock plugins. Cheers
      PS. I quit everything from Waves a year ago.

    Native has the most upfront high end which I love. Other than that they all just seem to handle the low end compression in their own way. I quite like the overall sheen on the UAD E model. I might need to invest in the native channel strip when I want that ssl 8k shelf boost on my vocals (I do this more than is healthy 🤔)

    Fail. What you should be listening for is how channels stack across a mix via the harmonic distortion and saturation. Congrats, you hear differences in your shootout, but can't make any judgment as to what is actually better when stacked in a mix.
