Karen Down helped we with my AWS924 and sent me a free PSU replacement eventhough my warranty ran out for a month because it was around Xmas time. Lovely lady.
I'm feeling so lucky to get the chance to work with Karen in my career's very first steps. Her passion for her job and willingness to help was always affected me. It was great to hear her story in her words. Thank you, Karen! Thank you, Warren!
OMG!! Karen was our trainer on the 9K when I went to the factory in '96 while I was working for Starstruck Studios in Nashville. The funniest thing is that I was just wondering about her a couple of days ago. So good to see this video and to see her doing well.
@@Producelikeapro It served me well for a long time. I kept a spare channel for sentimental value (technically 2 channels because of the large feature set of one strip) which I'm currently racking up. The Eq's are very musical and like you, I always recomend people starting out pick up a bargain like this.
Warren; how does your hair look more massive with every passing week?! Mine went the way of the dinosaur at 32. Envious! Great interview as always mate.
Very cool indeed. How does one get to watch Karens Video on learning the SSL ? I love to learn, im only a bedroom muso but these sorts of things I find fascinating. I just love learning. Thanks again so much both of you.
Who are some people in the industry that you'd like us to interview? Share below!
Kohle is always nice, Andrew Scheps and Andy Sneaps, Bob Rock, Rick Rubin, I know it's impossible but Martin Birch and Quincy Jones would be nice too.
@@CrushingAxes unfortunately Martin Birch is no longer with us. Huge loss

What a great idea to interview Karen! Most insightful. And yes, we need more females engineering and producing.
Absolutely, Karen is a wonderful talent!
I wanted to study automation on old consoles a while back...and Karen Down was the first video I came across!
That's amazing to hear!
I saw her video showing how the SSL worked and it was fascinating. Didn’t really think about how much of a pain recall was.
Haha it definitely takes some serious knowledge!
They say you never forget your first SSL. I gotta agree.

In 1995 we purchased a new SSL 4k G+ . Karen was our instructor. She was wonderful.

Many people tracked and mixed amazing albums on their SSLs!
