I have 177 and basically it's worked spot on straight out of the box, no mag problems at all. Running it with a 3.9 X 50 Hawke scope and I have to say enjoying it. Maybe I just got a good one !
I had a shotgun like that back in the 90s had it for over ten years....it was mossberg bolt action 12 gauge 3 shot 2 in the magazine 1 inthe barrel .. 3inch magmun ..screw in out select choke... 27inch barrel ...you seam to have a lot of problems with triggers ...nice air rifle ...good pellet in the right hands ... its a food on the table airgun..a lot of gun for £600. I love it ...helo from ireland....
Hmmm... got one around September this year and honestly I did not had any of the problems you mentioned. I’m going through pellets like crazy and managed to shoot accurate over 50 yards easy after getting used to it and finding the pellets this gun likes.
Glad it works for you, not the experience I have had and the finish quality and stock quality was cheap and awful. But then it is budget end, but personally I thought it was terrible.
Hi after reading a few reviews I must post again. Having bought a SMK19S in 22 for me and my son to enjoy at a friends site, I can only say it was a bonding and fun time with my son, As we went to PCP's, i.e. more expensive guns and joining a club the fun diminished. Yes I would agree to an extend. Fun, cheerful, safe and good quality and then it does not matter. Nothing worse than something breaking within 1 week, then it stops becoming fun as it is constantly being fixed and the hassle involved.
Hi Steve, I know you said that the concept was a good one but I can't agree. With a gun that has a removable air cylinder, if it fails a test then you can replace or service. With this gun what options have you got? Enjoying the channel keep up the good work. Chris
the xs19 is an outstandung springer. woodfield gcp do a trigger for around 25 quid that takes 2 mins to fit and makes the trigger sublime!!! I had one that i kept for three years and only sold because i was pestered so many times .... the xs19 works well from the box but has a rather imprecise trigger. the co2 guns are great the pr900w os a good gun ... but smk are stepping up a league now and do need to get the quality sorted as if you read my post further up the page when working as designed they are great guns
I bought one of these a few weeks ago, mine differs slightly from the one you reviewed, the stippling is real on mine, not only can you see it you can feel it, and it's not painted black, can't speak how it shoots as haven't fired it yet (Pump on order). Great review Steve many thanks
I hope you get on with it. The stippling on the one I reviewed you could feel, but it was not real stippling, more of a transfer image with raised ridges to make it feel like stippling. Hope you have better luck on the quality control with yours.
at 17:15 , it´s the anti double feed systhem.at my fx bobcat it´s the same. last pellet is fired I need to take out the mag to close the breach ( bolt ) I think it´s great .U know when the mag is empty
Good, honest review - thanks Steve. The Webley-Venom Custom Shop experimented with this concept over a decade ago... and it didn't get put into production for a number of reasons. This Artemis probably highlights most of them! Still, it's good to see that PCP designers are thinking outside the box...
Nigel, the concept is good and they did a great job with it, just they screwed up being SMK and dropped it in a sub standard stock and quality control to save the pennies. It shoots ok, it functions when you get used to it, just a shame they penny pinched.
Please, use jsb exact heavy, or barracudas. They are the best pellets on the market. The artemis m30 can make very good groups at the 50 meters. Please, try that. Very good review.
Sorry the rifle has gone back to the owner and he has since traded it in as it was that poorly made. Accuracy was not too bad, but the shocking build quality was just too bad.

I think the world has gone mad! 5-600 pounds translates to nearly $ 1000 Canadian. And with the suppression doesn't meet Canadian laws. It's an expensive disaster unavailable to me and I'm glad.
Save your money get a decent s410, ss200, hw100 etc for that money and be pellet on pellet for hunting.. As for the barrel the s16s has the same size barrel.. Would liked to heard how quiet the gun was.. Another Budget gun for paper
I agree, don't spend on this. It was fairly quiet, problem with video and mics are you never really her it properly as the levels are controlled by video and codecs / editing
They must of got a bad one, actually a little work on this rifle and it can be great, trust me, once I’m finished I’ll put my custom one I’m making on my TH-cam channel.
Idk how it is in the UK, but over here, 45" length on a sporter is pretty average. Now, my Winchester 1400cs .177UM is what I call the Long Tom of the airgun world @ 52"! I love the idea of the barrel passing through the middle of the pressure tube! Looks like a sniper rifle, or a magnum target rifle or other. Li8ke the sleeved barrels on my Trail NPXL725, Remington 725VTR, & Crosman GuideHawk NP. Makes them look gutsier, but quiets them down as well. I like the stock on it, but the checkering is a bit underdone. Butt stock is classic Remington. Butt pad looks like on a Benjamin Trail, or Hatsan. And I wonder if a block and some fine sandpaper could improve the magazine just enough to fit better? I restomod, rebuild, restore air rifles as a retirement hobby. So my mind is always pondering such minor improvements that wind up meaning so much in the long run.
Yeah if you are a DIY'r and happy to mess with 600 notes of rifle to make it function / look nice, then you could. Personally that is not me and I guess with many others they expect some form of quality when the buy a rifle. This rifle is long for an Air Rifle considering what else is on the market nowadays and past. No sure about rim or centre power rifles, I only ever shoot air rifles.
Yeah, that's just me. Of course my dad was a Seabee in WWII. Their motto of, " can do!" was hammered into my noggin' since I was a wee lad. But I was sharp as a tack in those days of near 60 years ago. Otherwise, you're right and better quality for dollar spent is to be wholly expected.
Good review of a rifle that is about half way there. By the way, my FX Impact and Crown have the same style magazine. ...and they are far from perfect. A Swedish pain in the derrière. Pardon my Texas French.
Hi I had one of these loved the concept of the gun but I could not get consistent groups tried umpteen pellets cleaned the barrel as Chinese barrels are notoriously dirty strange it was consistent over the chrony sent it back got a Zobria kossak brilliant.
Another great video definitely like the honesty had same mag problem with my pr900w great gun but magazine pain and jamming keep up great work Steve on another subject would consider doing a pellet caliber comparison test only ask as got new permission were the rats are monsters and still run after being hit by 177 and 22 so thinking of going up to. 25 what's your thoughts on sub 12ftlb. 25 caliber as I don't have fac cheers keep up great work
Thanks buddy. No matter what size the rats, a .177 or .22 at 10 - 11ft/lbs correctly placed between the eye and the ear should always result in a kill. They may jump all over the place and be hard to find due to nerves, but if you hit them there with that power it WILL kill them.
It's astonishing that anyone can produce a gun that has a safety device which does not fail safe! Furthermore, how do you test the integrity of the air cylinder if it's part of the gun? I think you summed it up in that the concept sounds good but I think it's inherently flawed. Enjoying your channel, keep up the good work. Chris
Interesting rifle, great review Steve . There are other rifles that smk bring in that may represent better value for money. The m11 mk 2 for one. Check out big dans review on it. If someone is spending 500 quid though , the secondhand market opens up a whole load of better options for quality.
Could you please do a review of an Anschutz, Steyr or Feinwerkbau? I'd like to be certain that it's your shooting that sucks, as opposed to the rifles you test.
Hi Steve thanks for the reply,I don't know if you have tested a zobria kossack yet but if you can I think you would be impressed for £500 they are good I don't know why people pay £1000 plus for some guns there again I use to be one!
Something u missed with all of the artimes range is the soft aluminium they r made with. You take these rifles to bits a few time and the metal doesn’t hold up to screws. Poor quality screws as well. This is not a long term gun in my opinion. I’ll leave it at that.
Hello good day. Steve, thanks to your video. I like that artimes m30 airgun. Can I buy that here in Philippines. Till me if there in Philippines. What store. Thanks. And more power to you.
The comment about the small movement at the butt and the large movement at the muzzle is just not correct. It doesn't matter how long a barrel is. What matters is the movement of the butt against point of impact that might be 55 yards away (in field target shooting for example) Whether the barrel covers the first foot or the first 3 feet of the pellet's path towards that point of impact is irrelevant. The longer barrel just makes you more aware of how much you are moving even if the movement is the same as with a short carbine rifle.
Are you denying the law of levers in physics? A longer object will move further at the end if the other end is moved an equal amount compared to a shorter object ?
Ill give you £100 for it ... INCLUDING the scope ... its a decent concept there no doubt about that .. but lets face it , its aweful . I think just about everyone who will reply too this vid will have a story too tell how good THERE rifle is compared too this one , and I'm no exception .. £500 - £600 ..." cheap " ... thats not cheap in my opinion ..thats knocking on the hight end door at £600 ... SMK need too go back too the drawing board with this one .. The " stippling " , which turns out too be a transfer ...is a joke .. Too some up ...its bloody AWEFUL , indeed I wouldnt even trade my wife in for it ... YES ...its that bad ...
ive a m16d and its as bad... i LOVE smk. nut the QC is crap on these pcp guns, Though once sorted with some minor attention they are great as is mine. That is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE IN THE PRICE BRACKET ... mine was 395 and i was hugely peed off but im sick and love playing with guns, okus knew how to fix the faults. point being they dont need to go to drawing board just do the job right ... couldn't tempt you to swap for a functioning m16d?.... no i mustn't..... im not that much of a glutton for punishment its enough paying for one wife lol
There terrible, £500-600 with get you a good well made used rifle , I’ve seen these stripped and there honestly horrendous! Looks like the barrels were crowned with a grinder ! As for the safety catch falling off ...well think that sums this pile of junk up for what it really is ...a fence proper! That’s if it can manage that without snapping 🙄 good review dude 👍🏻
The quality control on all of these rifles is horrible if you get one that functions properly you're lucky. The few that I do know who used and owned these rifles have had to tear down and clean them up because everything has Birds on it is corroded slopped with oil and just not very consistent. It's a shame because I like Barrel cylinder design however my $300 / X gauntlet has much more quality put into it then this $600 rifle there's something not right about that at all. I think they'd have a winner if they take the time and put together a fine rifle or lower the price to about $300 but the gun that you get just isn't worth any more than that! It's a shame after I got mine I sent it out to be fixed got it back and have sent it back out to be returned just very unimpressed I had high hopes for the gun but they need to get quality control under control.
smk very poor quality rifles .. 3 guys at the range have p16 evryone of the rifles the pin on the cocking arm has fallen out which results in evryone in the hut on their hands an knees looking for cocking arm pins ..
watched Si patterway? p15 putting pellet on pellet 10,20,25,30 yds and knocking over rabbits @ same distances and more, sometimes it's down to the shooter maybe.
Don't blame your rifle length Barrett.50s are super long and they shoot out to 1.5kilometres the reason your accuracy was shite was because your using lightweight spring gun pellets in a pcp they need heavy pellets 18 to 21 grain also seat the pellets in the magazine also weigh your pells on jewlers scales and finally lube the pellets with Napier pellet lube good channel but if your teaching people to shoot at least do it right mate i have shot competitive ft since i was about 8 and used an smk supergrade 19 i think it was called all them supergrade barrels are made on old diana machinery the only issue i have is the cheap arse triggers and the horrible stocks and when you tune a b2 the rear retaining pin always goes wobbly its a simple recipie wash em in hot soapy water dry off then size them then weigh them and lube em and then all you gotta do is your bit because there actions are a bit tweeky your brething and trigger control the lot has to be on point after a good tune on any of the super grade rifles there stupid accurate welsh willy tuned a lot of smk stuff in his day the old ones early 90s to 2000s were shit tho and they really were lol not even going to bother defending them 😂✌
The rifle is a great design and unique as I said, just let down my SMK crappy attention to quality as always. Yes it is long, but that is fine if the rifle was a good quality. I think you should really listen to what I said, great concept, nice rifle, bad SMK quality.
@@airgunology smk are not bad quality tho are you in the uk pick a range i will bring an smk xs20 and a b2 and i will show you what properly treated ammo can do and seriously dude springers like lightweight and pcp rifles prefere heavy pellets barracuda are the best ive found in a lot of pcp rifles but there 21 grain and the trajectories are rainbow like but very consistent and hard hitting thats why i said about the hunter xtreme as there the same barracuda shape bar the hollow point and there still heavy 18.something grain i wasn't having a dig i was merely saying what i know ive been at this shooting malarkey a long time as long as you have rifling theres no excuse to miss as my old shooting coach used to say 😂✌
No probs mate, Just the M30 is a shocking example of how to screw up a great design with bad quality. Not only I have said it, all the RFD's I know and other uTube channels have shown it on this rifle. Other SMK's are not too bad, but this one, avoid like the plaque. Love ya dude :)

I wanted something different, and I certainly did when I bought one of these rifles in .25 calibre. I like it.

Hi after reading a few reviews I must post again.
Having bought a SMK19S in 22 for me and my son to enjoy at a friends site, I can only say it was a bonding and fun time with my son,
As we went to PCP's, i.e. more expensive guns and joining a club the fun diminished.
My point is, if its cheap and you enjoy it, and its good shooting, and the equipment does not matter, its all about the fun and bonding with your family.
Jong

Yes that bit works ok, but actually using a full mag as it is supposed to be used is horrible with this rifle.
Beautiful rifle! Love it! Very happy with it!👌👌👌👌👌
SMK is just a distributor. The M30 is more properly called the SPA Artemis M30, as the maker is Snow Peak Airguns.
I get extremely close groups with RWS Super Dome in my FX Wildcat MK3.
I bought an M16D...the Theoben type bottle gun from Artemis. ... accurate a hell...great shot count...BUT!!!!! side cocking lever connecting pin dropped preventing the closure and preventing pellet probe slotting home.. trigger pins work loose in the stock...( as opposed to having stock off and the coming adrift ) Power...between 6 and just below 16ftlbs!!!! ( can i have syrup on my porridge please when i get banged up? ) I spoke to the RFD WHO SAID BRING IT BACK. and agreed i could try things at the range and try a little minor adjustment
As i'm OK with stripping airguns be they spring or pcp i tried a few basic tweaks.
power was settled by adjusting regulator adjusting power ( no anti tamper on these ) and a
O'ring fitted where barrel screws into breech
a dab of loctite hold the pins in trigger...
a roll pin holds the cocking linkage
Id seen a number of reviews...in none did the QC get mentioned.
the gun is now outstanding, with countless shots in .22 extremely accurate balanced etc. but for the average shooter it would have been back in the box and refund. a great gun RUINED by crap QC
PS
my cross bar safety safety is appalling,,, stiff grauncy poorly made and the SMK ad seems inconsustent some say single stage some two stage trigger. Ive stripped the trigger ... niclely machined but not two stage so although i can make it soft and predictable they need that sorting.

Yes, SMK and quality control. They should stick with pistols or put more effort into their rifles.
It has a silencer built into it. The last 4 inches or so is silencer. It might be better if you check things out instead of just guesing.
As do most rifles, but many might want to add another silencer as they do with most rifles.
I think the world has gone mad! 5-600 pounds translates to nearly $ 1000 Canadian. And with the suppression doesn't meet Canadian laws. It's an expensive disaster unavailable to me and I'm glad.

It’s a design I absolutely love. I only wish a high end company would do this. I’d break my wrist getting my wallet out.
Your wish has come true. Fx has just brought one out. Claiming it is their design. I bet it's a little more expensive than the SMK.
Good review of a rifle that is about half way there. By the way, my FX Impact and Crown have the same style magazine. ...and they are far from perfect. A Swedish pain in the derrière. Pardon my Texas French.
Yes aware that FX use the same concept, have a FX Verminator here for review with the same mag system. The only thing that lets FX down.
Hi I had one of these loved the concept of the gun but I could not get consistent groups tried umpteen pellets cleaned the barrel as Chinese barrels are notoriously dirty strange it was consistent over the chrony sent it back got a Zobria kossak brilliant.
thanks for confirming that it was not just me who hated this rifle.
hi Steve. at all my airrifles I have a stop where the 2.stage begins , even uncocked
Same with my rifles, but not on this one you don't have.
Good balanced review. Jong
Thank you.
Where did the £500-£600 price info come from Steve?
Looked at one of these over the weekend , priced at £389.
It was the price range I found looking around. Good price you found there.

Thanks I will check. Never played with SMK rifles before, this is my 1st and a bad experience
Shame, I bet it's put you right off.
do you still recommend this rifle ? I can get one around 400usd
Maybe they should move the entire stock 60cm forwards and make a bull-pup version of it.
envy driving this review... He could not avoid comparing to Daystate...
I would really like this one. Im not sure if i want a rifle haha. If im gonna by one is probably this one ^^
How many shots do you get out of it
Transfers on the stock? Nothing at all would have been less offensive
too true, shocking.
noticed Big Dan had no real issues with it and had good accuracy. mm
Yeah and I slated it and Giles has too on his recent video. mmmmm. Anything to do with sponsorship perhaps ?
@@airgunology I've no idea, but I believe he retails them, so I'd imagine he'd not want unhappy customers. selling howlers.
Who knows, but the rifle is a great concept, and put together in a typical rubbish stock with bad SMK quality control.
Could you please do a review of an Anschutz, Steyr or Feinwerkbau? I'd like to be certain that it's your shooting that sucks, as opposed to the rifles you test.
very funny.
Also it is not the accuracy I am slating this rifle for. It is ok for a budget PCP which I said. But this SMK is just dreadful quality.

Lol Mark :) Made me giggle that :) Yes it was that bad.
ive a m16d and its as bad... i LOVE smk. nut the QC is crap on these pcp guns, Though once sorted with some minor attention they are great as is mine.
I've got 1 nocked 3 rabbit downed good gun
Wow, you shouldn’t be let loose with a keyboard never mind an air rifle! Grammar destroyed
harganya berapa bos..?
Berapa harga..
Yes i agree, the quality control on this rifle is dire. Buyers stay away.
Better off with an AA S200 and save a fair bit of cash, low cost quality springers like hatsan and stoeger can shoot better than that
Greyhound m30
lol
Bad shot man.
Nothing wrong with the rifle.
mmm, check other reviews, plenty wrong with this rifle. But I am not the best shot either.
smk very poor quality rifles .. 3 guys at the range have p16 evryone of the rifles the pin on the cocking arm has fallen out which results in evryone in the hut on their hands an knees looking for cocking arm pins ..
Yup every SMK I have seen /. handled is like that. Reminds me of the plastic tin can alley rifles you got in the 80's
watched Si patterway? p15 putting pellet on pellet 10,20,25,30 yds and knocking over rabbits @ same distances and more, sometimes it's down to the shooter maybe.
Great concept but badly executed, shorten the barrel fix the problems to attract buyers.
Bloody crap
YUP :)
it's cheap
Very and it tells
