Great channel guys. Great stuff. Correction though - jogging burns about 800-1100 per hour. Very similar to jump rope (a little less, but not 1/2).

From a fighter’s point of view:
    Running = for better endurance
    Jump rope = better footwork/agility
    They are both equally important!

I only jog when I just want to get home from school faster.
But Jumprope is my go-to, it's intense, fat burning, super fun, makes me feel free, and I can get in a total body workout when I barely have the time because school and work. I thank you guys because if it wasn't for you, I would have never picked up the Jumprope.

The reason you get pain when jogging is because you heel strike. Becoming a midfoot or forefoot striker by wearing barefoot running shoes will completely resolve this problem.

  • @cheemsdope5300

I have tried both for a month.
I used to jog 5km 5 days a week for a month. I saw significant weight loss and my legs grew stronger.
Next month, I began skipping an hour a day 7 days a week for a month. The changes were drastic. I became skinny which made me look ripped.
So jogging is good for improving stamina but skipping is the best for losing weight.

Hi Zen Dudes ! Yes, jumping is the way to go. I use to run semi-competitively (18~20 min 5K). I now jump a LOT, and rarely run, maybe once a month. I’m finding that with all the jumping, my mile run time is staying very consistent at the 6 minute mark....

  • @lennoxforeman601

The only cardio I do outside of the gym is jumping rope. I do it in the gym also. Pad work heavy bag work and jumping rope are my most preferred ways to get my heart rate up. The drills I just mentioned keep my mind occupied so I don't notice my heart rate until I actually stop. If you're finding it super hard to find time in your week to train, go to 2-3 cardio classes of some sort (boxercise, spinning classes, etc) carry a skipping rope when you can and eat well in between. If you can't find 3 hours in the week to train you have to seriously evaluate your life ✌+❤

I am an advocate for both running and jumping rope but i found this comparison to be a little unfair in 2 points:
1: injury risk is high on “jogging” because running at a slow pace just isnt natural and another readon why people get injured is because of their technique: footstrike, posture, etc.
2: Fun is a very subjective thing i mean obviously you prefer jump rope but I love the feeling of getting in a 12 mile run at your fastest place and also knowing a new place running in it (forests, cities, deserts, you name it)
I found the other points you mention to be correct but in the end it depends on every person conditions and objectives: if your goal is to burn fat as fast as you can, then jump rope is your best option. If you want to know a new place then running is your thing.
I do both depending on the time and motivation I have

    • @j.r.5803
      @j.r.5803 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Benjamín Arellano Gaete Also running is a life skill. I mean one day you may need to run or go from a place to another in a certain amount of time. Now the jump rope gives u foot ability and many benefits including for the mind but isnt a life skill. Unless you wanna warm up fast to lets say use your strengh at a medium emmergency need or so to avoid being injured otherwise that emmergency would go high pretty fast. Ex: friend arguing with a person. U get out your rope and warm up fast. Once if started a fight u are ready to do whatever u need to do to protect your friend from being injured and yourself by warming up.
Ex: This is a messed up comment just to say that jogging or running can be useful more likely to do a directly need than jumping a rope :P

Running is easier, jump roping is more fun. Both are essential to excel in sports.
Also jumping rope is better for getting warmed up for basketball - at least for an old man like me. I was having lots of problems with pulled calf muscles when I play ball first thing in the morning. Then I started jumping rope for 5 minutes before the game. I can feel the burn in the calves. Haven't had any trouble since I started doing that.
It is amazing that I can jump rope much longer after I am warmed up. First thing in the morning before I get my heart rate up, I fatigue faster.

I will say I usually burn about 400-550 ish when I run for a solid 25-30 minutes, no stops. I can usually get 3.5-4 miles done in that time. Not sure if it’s because my terrain is up and down and not 100% flat. Last year I did start adding jump rope to my cardio and just fell in LOVE with it. I’m a huge cardio guy. I’m not much for weights really or anything else but go tell me to run 4-5 miles YES. Ask me to jump rope for 30 minutes? Happily!

Two of the most important things that I look for in exercies the most other than other given benefits 1) Enjoyment and 2) Convenience.
By a long shot, and it's not even close, Jump rope is much more enjoyable and convenient. Sure, in order to jump rope, you need a, surprise surprise, a jump rope while in jogging, the least difficult thing to find is a suitable path or terrain to jog (it's really not difficult). However, after you acquire a jump rope, jump rope will beat out jogging in convenience. You can practically jump rope in a single spot, or even outside. Then again, you could do with a treadmill but jump rope is definitely easier to acquire and more readily available.
Again, personal opinion, if the "enjoyment" criteria that I laid wasn't giveaway enough.

in my point of view, I used to go running for almost 8 years. it has own issues, like less calorie will be burnt by running. if you keep running constantly it can hurt knees and other foot junction. running in cold weather or on hot days can be annoying as well. I have started jumping ropes almost for half of a year. I guarantee that it burns calorie in double. you dont need any place to run, a free space in your room is enough. its not weather dependent. But THE BIGGEST PROBLEM by jump rope is when you do it constantly and longer. after a while I got pain in my shines, called shine splits and this shit was real. I had to take more days of between my jumprope days. otherwise it would hurt really bad.

Jogging is OK how ever jump rope I feel gets me in better shape then any other method of cardio.I find that jump rope takes a lot of wind out of you. One of my favorite exercise or routine to do is jump rope 40 secs at about 85-90% of my vo2 max then rest 20 secs do 40 secs of burpees rest 20 secs repeat 6 times that's one set I will then rest about 2 mins and repeat that set 2 more times for a total of 3 sets if you push your self trust me you'll end on the floor tire like crazy.

I used to run Cross Country and Pole Vaulted on track. I did at least 5 miles/day and started to get really bored with it. Then I found this channel and decided to pick up a super cheap jump rope to see if I liked it. I can safely say that jumping rope is way more tiring than running and I feel better after I jump than after I run. I still run, but only every once in a while. I jump rope all the time now instead with my new CrossRope.

I do both. I used to pedal bicycle, but am getting to go bicycling less and less. My main purpose for jogging and rope skipping is to maintain my stamina ( endurance?) for muaythai. Jumping rope has the benefit of agility and rhythm, which is necessary for striking sports. Is is also schedule dependable. When it rains, I'd fall back on rope jumping in my house. BTW I never jump rope without my shoes and skipping mat, so injury is hardly my concern.

keep it simple. The point of our 5 minutes a day video is to explain this. Just start. DO SOMETHING! it's better than nothing and if you can commit to just 5 minutes, it'll turn into 10. 10 to 20 and soon you'll be seeing results.
Just do you, but be consistent. If you want this, you got this!

It seems kinda biased... 20 min jog burns 200 calories, so no way it only burns 350 per hour . And yes, I mean jogging, I'm a very slow runner. Also you said that jogging isn't the kinda thing you'd do for an hour, but is jump rope?? I can jog easily for long periods of time but three minute rope jumping KILLS me. I'd say for someone who's just getting off the couch and starting to look into fitness, jogging is the way to go. For someone who is in shape already , jumping rope will be easier. I guess kinda depends on what you like better, but I still feel like you were leaning in one direction this whole video

A big part of injuries that come from jogging are a result of wearing thick comfortable shoes that absorb some of the impact and causes people to land heel first. The rest of the shock not absorbed by the shoe is then sent up through the body and eventually causes injury.
This can be avoided by simply running on the balls of your feet so all that shock isn't transmitted up through the rest of your body.

dont get me wrong i love you jumpe rope workouts, i actually do them 3 times a week, the other 2 days im out running, but your kcals estimate for running are totally off and is rather subjective because depending on your weight, height, age and pace you can burn way more them 500kcal in 1 hour, in my case i burn something like 950kcals in 1 hour, you may still burn more while jumping rope, but not that much more. congrats for your vids, because you guys are awsome.. keep doingthething :)
