That's good info Caitlyn gave on looking at the bellies of fish you're purchasing. I never thought to ask the LFS employees to select fish with "fuller" shaped bellies. Lumpy or uneven-looking could definitely indicate parasites, and flat is just as likely to be a loss of appetite from illness.
I have a pea puffer (Darwin) in a heavily planted 5 gal fluval chi. By far the easiest puffer setup you could ever do. I feed my puffer by hand with frozen bloodworms and a pipet, and there is almost no maintenance at all because of the low bioload/high planted setup. Definitely recommend
Jimmy, your close-up stills of fish are exemplary. I have too many books on tropical fish and few have images of the quality you consistently attain. Truly great work. Seriously, you should self publish a book! This puffer video rocks, too!
Thank you so much Greggerman. Maybe in the future I will do a coffee book. As of right now, I feel like I'm just scratching the surface of what I can do. I've only had a professional camera for about a year so we'll see where it takes me.
Pea puffers are ideal for cylindrical, hexagonal, or otherwise tall aquatic setups in my opinion. I had mine with taller and bushier plants, _Alternanthera reineckii_ , _Cryptocoryne spiralis_ and _Crinum thaianum_
Cool seeing the varieties of puffers out there. Here in Perth Australia we hey a species that we call blowies & they are a nuisance bycatch when fishing brackish water. Weeping toadfish, Torquigener pleurogramma. 🤘
thank you so much for this video! It was really well done and you could tell the people were knowledgeable. I've been doing a lot of research on puffers, namely pea puffers, and it took a while for me to differentiate info for them from info for other puffers. It was also a great tip on the way the bellies looked, I'll definitely keep an eye out for that when I go pick mine out!
I really liked Meeting the staff. We need to see more of the staff in videos! Great job Jimmy.. this was a very educational video and very entertaining!
Would a red eye red tail puffer or the spotted congo puffer be ok in a 20 gallon with the dimensions of 24.2 x 12.4 x 16.7? Also between the dwarf puffer, red eye puffer, and the spotted congo puffer, which is the most intelligent and personable of the bunch?
I'm finding it difficult to get good information of red eye puffer care, does anyone have a good source for that? Seems like no one's made a full video on them yet.
So Nice! Currently own 3 peapuffers and i’d love to get a shoutdenti puffer this year especially because they don’t have the teeth grinding diet... how big should a tank be to keep one of those? 🤔
Awesome puffer video braddah love the variety too... I want one so bad just trying to figure out which way I wanna go thank you much love and aloha 🤙🏽🐠🤙🏽
Oh my Allah.I’m loving this store! I had no clue you guys have all of these awesome fish. Im in Northern California and I’m thinking I should make a trip up there.
Hi love the video. I’m going to make a puffer tank for my wife. I’m going to use a 30 gal tank I was wondering how many puffer can I put in it and what kind of other fish can I put in the tank. Thank you for any advice
How can you tell the difference between a male and female Congo puffer I have one with stripes and spots is that a male or a female please let me know thank you
Dude, I subbed as soon as I saw those GORGeous egg shots- that **camera**, tho!!! Your Eye is spot on... Looking forward to catching up! Info and vid, just beautiful-thanks!
I brought a red tail red eyed puffer for my tank. My local aquarium said it was a community fish!! Hes the smallest fish in my tank but has completely demolished the rest. I'm not happy at all! I've separated him for now. Any suggestions on how to cook a red eye puffer??
The pet store employees know what they’re doing when it comes to the puffer fish” if a pet store dry nets a puffer……run away. Dry netting any puffer is a big no no. Puffer fish bodies are not made to take in air……if it ever happens you have to burp them, or they can die. Good video, and that pet store knows what they’re doing.
I’d love a Mbu. Murphy is awesome! What I have space for is a Pea. My girl, Daisy May, lives in a heavily planted 5 gallon. She’s fun to watch. Love the eyes.
I tried to keep 6 pea puffers in a ten gallon tank. They won't eat anything unless they're moving. No frozen blood worms, just live black worms or tubifex. Just consider yourself lucky if yours take frozen. Save lots on food bill.
I know you innevitably have to trim the teeth on amazon puffers. Is this the same case for red eye puffers or do the teeth stay short if you feed them good amounts of hard foods?
Puffers are just so cute and intelligent I can't! 🐡 Love that you have some of the other employees sharing info... really really cool. Also you watch camera conspiracies? That guy is hilarious 😂
Love puffers!! Super cool especially since that's the next tank I wanna do is a puffer tank. Been thinking of an Amazon Puffer tank but while doing alotta researching I've been leaning more towards a Shoudenti Puffer tank or a Fahaka Puffer. But I'm liking the red eye dwarf puffer now lol with it being a bit larger than pea puffers. Gotta couple other projects I gotta do first tho lol. Great video as always, your gonna make me getta Instagram account!!
I can't tell you how hard it is to control the want to pick up those red-eye puffers - thankfully tank space is restricting me. Nice vid Jimmy, pretty cool to have the team at the shop add a little education in.
Vegetable Police on the monitor up top! Lol once I have more experience with planted tanks maybe I'll look into some of the smaller puffers. Murphy is king 🤩🤩
PUFFERS!!!!!! any advise on green spotted puffers . i know yall dont do salt or brackish to much but there isnt a lot of info out there about the green spotted puffer as always enjoyed that content !!!!
Ughhh so many lovely amazing shots and puffahs.

One day i will have a small office tank. It will be heavily planted and have 1 pea puffer. I shall call him Waldo
I have 2 plecos names Carmen San Diego and Waldo
I have a pea puffer (Darwin) in a heavily planted 5 gal fluval chi. By far the easiest puffer setup you could ever do. I feed my puffer by hand with frozen bloodworms and a pipet, and there is almost no maintenance at all because of the low bioload/high planted setup. Definitely recommend
I have a pea puffer in my 29 he’s neat
Have you gotten him yet?
Gotta love the puffers! U need to do a video with all the employees and our favorite fish to keep. And congrats to Nick for not falling this time...
I love Caitlyn and Nick they’re so knowledgeable. Seem like great employees!!
Cory is so lucky to have such great knowledgable staff. Quite possibly the best lfs in the nation. Cool fish!
Jimmy, your close-up stills of fish are exemplary. I have too many books on tropical fish and few have images of the quality you consistently attain. Truly great work. Seriously, you should self publish a book! This puffer video rocks, too!

Im from Indonesia and i have never seen this puffer before. We have over 100 LFS in Jakarta btw.
It would so cool if you feature the palutris puffer in a later video. I saw that you guys got a shipment and got really curious.
What was the name of the fish at 11:59-12:00? He says black phantoms but I believe they are the next fish shown. Very interesting. Thanks!
Those are called freshwater hatchet fish
Marbled hatchet fish
Aquarium co op and Cory have such great employees
The Intro random photos is Bop! I'll screenshot those love the colors and your photographies!
Very KOOL to see such a unique batch of different puffers! I’ve yet to own one, but definitely something I look forward to in the future
no one ever talks about the twin spot puffer this way, very detailed.
Got 4 of these guys 1.3 in a 75 planted community. They're freakin awesome.
Would a red eye red tail puffer or the spotted congo puffer be ok in a 20 gallon with the dimensions of 24.2 x 12.4 x 16.7? Also between the dwarf puffer, red eye puffer, and the spotted congo puffer, which is the most intelligent and personable of the bunch?

hello am twelve i have 1 amazon puffer and used to have a spotted congo but sadly jumped out recently
Great job on the editing!
So Nice! Currently own 3 peapuffers and i’d love to get a shoutdenti puffer this year especially because they don’t have the teeth grinding diet...

i stayed up late and got a nice surprise video from jimmy. Feelsgoodman
Great vid. Puffer introduction 👍🏻👍🏻
07:14 That is such GREAT advice. I will do this from now on. Thank you 😊

I used to have one of these guys in a nano tank on my bookshelf. I love him and my roommate's loved him.
The red eye, red tail is Carinotetraodon irrubesco
Oh my Allah.I’m loving this store! I had no clue you guys have all of these awesome fish.
Im in Northern California and I’m thinking I should make a trip up there.
My Amazon puffers lived 14 years!
what did you do about them teeth thou
@@danipuffi I am also very curious about that? I have kept them, and their teeth grows crazy fast.
Feed snails
Awesome and informative. It's been cool to see how knowledgeable the coop employees are
Thanks Mister Lam!
Subbed! Your aquarium b-rolls are awesome! I definitely need some practice.
Thank you :)
Gonna get 1 pea puffer, and 5 more ember tetra for my 10 gal. Currently housing 4 pygmy cories and 1 rescued ember tetra
Another great video Jimmy 👍 Love learning about all the different puffers.
I have to say Aquarium Co-op has some of the nicest employees of any fish store I have been to. Hi guys!
Good work, as always. You should submit some photos to the National Geographic photo contest next year (2019 is already done)
I would like to have a Pig Nose Puffer and a Hairy Puffer what size tank should I get? and Can I keep more than one Per Tank.?
why do the mbus have to be so big :(( I don't know which one I should get for my planned 240 liter tank
Hi love the video. I’m going to make a puffer tank for my wife. I’m going to use a 30 gal tank I was wondering how many puffer can I put in it and what kind of other fish can I put in the tank. Thank you for any advice
I can't get enough puffer videos! This once is very informative. I have a twin spot puffer 🐡
Love your videos Jimmy!
Love these. I’m #teampuffer all the way. I have the gateway puffer the pea puffers. The Co op team is so knowledgeable. Great footage!!
How can you tell the difference between a male and female Congo puffer I have one with stripes and spots is that a male or a female please let me know thank you

What is the price on the red tail-red eye puffer ? Great video and outstanding photo work !!
$29!
I brought a red tail red eyed puffer for my tank. My local aquarium said it was a community fish!! Hes the smallest fish in my tank but has completely demolished the rest. I'm not happy at all! I've separated him for now. Any suggestions on how to cook a red eye puffer??
Great video, lots of info and amazing shots. I would love to see more vids like this, like maybe on rainbowfish
Such an informative and fun video!
For your first pea puffer to get what would be the best way to get for your first puffer
The woman said you can keep 3 (one male, two females) in a 10 gallon. However, can you keep all three as females to reduce aggression? thanks!
I want together back into leopard or figure 8 puffers. Is 15 gallons too small? What other fish can share a tank with them? Do you have a vid on this?
I like em I have a pea puffer in my discus tank
Have a 29gall, which has been cycled for 3mon, with a albino pleco, now I can have a few of these beautiful colorfully finned beauties 😎😎
I’d love a Mbu. Murphy is awesome! What I have space for is a Pea. My girl, Daisy May, lives in a heavily planted 5 gallon. She’s fun to watch. Love the eyes.

I just got a trio of these a couple weeks ago
What lens are you using on your Sony? And are you using the standard hood or the lens hood? I feel like my fish photos are horrible haha.
For Fish I used the Sony 90mm G OSS Macro lens with the OEM hood. :)
Nice! I was afraid I'd need to break down and buy a macro 😂😂😂 I meant a rubber hood in my original comment. I'm to tired. 😂
Great video Jimmy! Those red eyed puffers are sick! 🔥
First time I've seen or even heard mention of these puffers in years!
I want one (or three) bad!
Cool video,nice editing,awsome puffers.
The RE/RT puffers are GORGEOUS !
Great video. And finally someone who is warning people about how fast the teeths grow on Amazons. 👊🔥
Can you keep a red eye red tail puffer in a 20 gallon high
I have a pea puffer but he only eats the heads on the snails that I feed him and he refuses to have bloodworms,so he's really thin .what should I do ?
feed blackworms, they're high in fat and tasty snacks for puffers and you can find them at most LFS or buy a culture online.
You are such a talented cinematographer
Thank you !
Wondering what you are going to do with the globe tank you got from cory when you go back to ohio
Not sure yet. Probably empty it and give it back to Cory.
Will frozen krill grind down figure 8 puffer beaks?
Some good puffer info.
Great content and enjoyable to watch...thank you
Those irrubesco puffer's are suhweet. Such a unique puffy boi.
Do you have any info on breeding figure 8s?
I don’t sorry!
I know you innevitably have to trim the teeth on amazon puffers. Is this the same case for red eye puffers or do the teeth stay short if you feed them good amounts of hard foods?
I've wanted one of these guys since I saw the one on Inglorious Bettas almost 2 years ago.
Awesome video!!! Appreciate the time and effort you put in your videos love it 🇨🇦👍🏼
Lots of Puffer love from Kingston Ontario Canada! 🇨🇦♥️🐡🐡🐡
Puffers are just so cute and intelligent I can't! 🐡 Love that you have some of the other employees sharing info... really really cool.
Also you watch camera conspiracies? That guy is hilarious 😂
Hahahhha yaaa I do. Have you seen Andreas Hems? My new addiction too
@@jimmygimbal nope...guess I'll go check him out!
nice video lots of info.
So I have a 36 bow front. Could I do 4 or 3 like you recommend
Yup you can
Love puffers!! Super cool especially since that's the next tank I wanna do is a puffer tank. Great video as always, your gonna make me getta Instagram account!!
Can the amazon puffer live with discus?
Technically, they do in the wild. Depends on the Amazon Puffer I think. I'd say try it out but keep a watchful eye.
I keep mine with my humpback puffers and my dwarf snakeheads
I can't tell you how hard it is to control the want to pick up those red-eye puffers - thankfully tank space is restricting me. Nice vid Jimmy, pretty cool to have the team at the shop add a little education in.
Those red eyed, red tailed puffers are fierce looking.
Can you put them in a community tank?
Vegetable Police on the monitor up top! Lol once I have more experience with planted tanks maybe I'll look into some of the smaller puffers. Murphy is king 🤩🤩
Hahahahah he’s so weirdly addicting
PUFFERS!!!!!! any advise on green spotted puffers . i know yall dont do salt or brackish to much but there isnt a lot of info out there about the green spotted puffer
as always enjoyed that content !!!!
So you do have to feed schoutedeni puffers hard shelled food or is it ok not to?
Yes but you could def feed bloodworms mostly
I feed mine mostly ramshorns. But he also gets krill and mysis and occasionally blood worms.
How are Pea Puffers with other fish?
I am Indonesian yet never see this fish in our fish shops here.
The pea puffers how big do they get?
A bit bigger than a broccoli 🥦.
Like a dime haha
Nice Camera conspiracy screen at the beginning ;)
Hahahah always
