Appreciate you bringing a real one in to talk about the genre. I have a smash background and I'm just above average, which isn't saying much in the competitive scene, but it's a fun experience you learn a lot from... and a lot of people playing gacha games don't have these communal experiences to draw from.
Damn! YuGiOh! Make your next podcast about that guys! I've stopped playing Honkai Star Rail for almost a year now and came back to Duel Links. Its fun playing the game after a long hiatus. Now the game has newer mechanics such as Pendulum and Link summoning. Maybe you should feature that game as well or even Master Duel.
that's why you don't talk about what you have no idea of, kids. it turns, against all odds and angry reddit/youtube comments, there are a lot of fighting game players playing gacha games! truly unbelievable!
Makes me so happy to see crossover with the FGC. Love seeing two of my hobbies intersect. EDIT: Watching the video and wanted to nerd out on some stuff. A huge majority of top players in the legacy games like Tekken, King of Fighters, and Street Fighters are actually in there 30s-40s. These are people who have been playing for decades and still place top 8s at majors. At the same time, every new game brings in a new generation of younger players. Since FGC events are open bracket tournaments always see new killers. Also wanted to add in that for the 1 million SF6 Saudi Arabian tournament that JMCrofts mentioned in this podcast was won by a 35 year old. Won’t say the tag because I don’t what to spoil it, and it was an incredibly hype tournament. The parry window from EVO Moment 37 is actually smaller, it’s a 10 frame window as opposed to a 12. And Chun Li’s super is a 3f startup, so it’s literally impossible to react to it. Parries also have a cooldown so you can’t mash parry. Daigo literally needed to hard predict when he’d think Justin would go for it.
