      Red Star Loft Thanks for the kind words!!! I did the nest box fronts at a friend’s house, so the router, drill press etc. are (sadly) not mine 😆

    Wow! This turned out to be really good. You must have put really hard work on this. I'll try to make one in the future cause right now I only have 2 pigeons, but still amazing loft!

      Thanks!! With just two birds you can keep them in something quite small and simple. As a kid I kept birds in a rabbit hutch and they did just fine! Ha! For that matter I have a pair that I keep in a rabbit hutch at present! Good luck!

    very nice man. i am intending to build my own loft soon. i am so new in pigeons and browsing the internet to get the function and sizes of good loft.
    what exactly i needed to focus is the size and design of nest boxes.
    i found it in yours 16 x 16 x 23.5
    the distance of front when hanging backwards to be enougg for cock to stand outside nest i guess may be 6" ?
    after all, great work man

      Thanks for the kind feedback and welcome to pigeons!! It's a great hobby/sport! Yes, 5-6 inches should be plenty! Good luck with the build!

    Happy birthday . Looking really nice I’m having some trouble with my sliding door can explain how did you build yours if possible ?

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Soufiane Kerroum Yes! The sliding doors were difficult for me as well. I used the hardware from an interior closet door (see link below). Each door required multiple adjustments; I had to reposition the track from which they hang several times until the door hung right and worked smoothly. www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-48-in-Sliding-Door-Set-18396/202041870

    Hi how much the material cost u sir ? And how long it took to put toghther? Will this hold birds good in cold weather of Virginia and in snow ? Great loft by they way love the detail on it 👍

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It cost around $2800 in materials. It took me a few months from start to finish because I work full time and have a large family. So I would work on it an hour or two in the evenings after work and then on Saturdays. I did not have a plan to follow-I designed it all myself- so a lot of time was spent figuring out how to do things and designing the layout and other features. If I worked on it 8 hours a day and did it over I could get it done in a week.
      I live in Maryland so we have more or less the same climate. So far the birds have done just fine.
      Thanks for your feedback, and keep in touch!

    Can you please tell me sir,what type seed mix gives to training time ,which is high carb seed??

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For pigeons they need high fat seeds (safflower, sunflower, flax, etc.) prior to long distance flying. Birds have different metabolic needs than humans.

  • @soufianekerroum8650

    Also what is the name of that what thing that you but in the boxes to separate each box from other looking really good

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Soufiane Kerroum Sorry, I’m not sure if I understand exactly what part you are referring to. I used small white strips of pvc or wood to stabilize the 16” x 16” dividers (the dividers are made from 1/2 inch plywood). I constructed the boxes by attaching the two sides and horizontal bottoms to the back. Then, working from the bottom boxes to the top, I inserted the dividers. Once the bottom row of dividers was in place I was not able to fasten from underneath the next level of dividers. I used the strips of pvc or wood at the base of the dividers as a surface to attach the base of the diver to the horizontal floor of the box. Hope that makes sense!!!

  • @bobdale1

    What are the dimensions of your nest boxes?

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dale & Associates 16” high x 16” deep x 23.5” wide. I wanted to make them big enough that the pairs could mate inside them.
