Paulie is stupid though. Many times it’s obvious that he’s annoying Tony but he still keeps discussing the same shit. You can tell Tony is annoyed he brought up Livia being there.
I think his resentment of Paulie came from the fact that he was more Johnny’s guy-he worked under Johnny for years and as a result Tony saw him more as an extension of his father. And if ya get down to it, Tony resented his father for putting him in the life. The fact that he later became a selfish prick monster in his own right didn’t change that

To be fair to Paulie, with Vito, the complaint was about incorrect information. Vito said the place would be empty and it would be an easy heist, but it was "mayham", so Paulie felt he deserved more than the originally agreed-upon 50%.
Well it was established. Plus Paulie had to gun down 3 Colombians and take a knee to the groin. Or else he was just arguing as a delaying tactic to see if Tony croaks and he doesn't have to kick up

Lmao the look of sheer unadulterated devastation on paulie's face when Tony says 12k is fucking priceless. The guy who plays paulie is an underrated actor.
I loved how this show subtly revealed the characters' hypocrisy. Paulie felt entitled to half the score Ralph made with his information in this scene; but a few seasons later, he didn't want to pony up to Vito Spatafore after he tipped him off to the score in the Colombian laundry. It's just like how, on Season 1, Uncle Junior had Brendan Filone whacked for hijacking his company's trucks, even though a few years earlier (as we saw in that Christmas flashback in Season 3), Jackie Aprile, Sr. gave Junior shit for hijacking *his* truck. Brilliant storytelling.
Obviously theyre all hypocrites and the show reveals it over and over again. That being said there are still important differences with the example you gave. Brendan Filone was a nobody, he wasnt even on the way to being made and he had no family connections or close friendships with anybody in the New Jersey family. In fact they all seem to dislike him and he got a truck driver killed when he was highjacking those trucks. Junior was a made guy and (probably) a captain when he highjacked Jackie Aprile, Sr.'s trucks, plus the Soprano family had close ties to every high level mobster in the New Jersey family. Obviously they play by different rules and Junior can get away with stuff that some random guy cant. You can call that hypocrisy, but thats how the mob works (at least in this series), having one set of rules for outsiders and another one for members. Thats how they keep control of the criminal activity in their area within the family and its a perfectly rational approach and the main benefit you get for being part of a mafia family. To compare apples to apples: You can be sure that Junior wouldnt have killed one of his captains if he had done what Brendan did. There would have been a sit down and some form of punishment but that would have been it.
0:29 ...Paulie is trying to flatter T by saying he listened to his recommendation and trying to forge a 'common bond" so he can get a favourable ruling at the Sit-Down. Daniel Vargas I believe you are referring to Billy Batts being whacked by Tommy. As you will recall, the result of that was Tommy being lured to a fake 'making' ceremony and he himself being whacked. A more illustrative example was when Ralfie made a fat joke about Jinny - Johnny Sack's wife. At the time Johnny Sack was the underboss of the powerful Lupertazzi family, while Ralfie is only a New Jersey caporegime. Johnny demanded Ralfie be whacked - a measure that Carmine Lupertazzi and Tony refused to sanction, solely because of the amount of money Ralfie was making both families by being point guy for the Esplanade construction project (as much as 3million a year for the New Jersey family alone). Instead Carmine insists that Johnny agree to an amount that Ralfie will be taxed for the insult. Unsatisfied, Johnny goes so far as to arrange Ralfie's whacking, in defiance of Carmine's wishes. However, he cancels the hit at the last minute and agrees to a compromise. Unbeknownst to Johnny, Carmine has sanctioned a hit on him for being a risk to the earning power of the families, which in turn is also cancelled when Johnny agrees to a conciliation. So, in a nutshell, the powers behind the families would have whacked an underboss in order to protect the earning power of a mere capo. Money-making ability is all it ever comes down to. Jeopardising that in any way is a sure-fire way to get whacked.

Has any TV show ever had such a perfect cast? I can't think of a single actor that is out of their depth and its all glued together by the amazing Gandolfini. A lesson in programme making.
So much to love about that scene... Poor Furio, on one leg but parking the car legally a mile away, while Ralphie just parks were ever he pleases and then spends the entire sit down cracking wise - Ralphie was a complete psycho, but him and Junior got most of the great lines... and seeing Paulie get wound up was always a hoot (and Ralphie knew how easy it was to do - and how much fun it was).
@2 demons attached I am a firefighter/paramedic. I understand the humor. I've lived it for almost 35 years. This is no joke. It didn't "disappear" after the election. It's not going away any time soon. It's time more people take it seriously. It's killing people and ruining people's lives.
@Frosty Jim I agree completely. Problem is the "entitlement" attitude of a lot of people that think that they can do whatever they want and the hell with everyone else. It's a shame.
I can imagine the script for this scene these 4 had to see. (Furio falls over) (Ralph, Silvio, Tony run over to help) (Paulie stays sitting down, pissed)
0:44 ("the level of care"...Paulie voice trembles) Gotta say some good acting by Paulie....he was able to get a realistic tremble in his voice talking about the care his mom (aunt) gets, as if he was about to cry. Great acting!!
Tony's ruling is solely based on what gives him the biggest financial outcome. After just discussing about Paulie putting his mother at Greengrove Retirement Community, and knowing how much of a less earner Paulie is compared to Ralph, Tony knows Paulie will only kick up to him the bare minimum. While Ralphie in the other hand who earns very well and is constantly using money to seek Tony's approval is most likely going to kick up a significant amount more than Paulie. Remember later on the show, Paulie doesn't want to kick up to Carmela when Tony is in a coma,
I love the fact that this scene is from season 3 or 4 but still Tony gets annoyed when anyone calls green grove a nursing home and still, feels the need to correct them. It's a retirement community XD Another example of great writing on the show.
Silvio walking over like hes gonna do damage to the ice Furio slipped on. Stomp it to death lol. I've watched this clip so many times i laugh equally as hard every time.
06hatter- So do I--especially when Tony Soprano says "It's a retirement community.", "I don't know..." as far as when Paulie asks what care package his mother got & "I never recommended it." when Paulie Walnuts says he recommended checking it out. Great acting job!...
Spihk heart bust!? Can you use Bozeman Hotmail Recipient's Roomies Ghnavel Feces to explain to the Biblical Vessels that all Rhode Island Courthouse are Racist because they got the Coffee sign up inside a Rhode Island Courthouses!?
Ralph was a Henry Hill type character, an out of control rogue off his face on coke and beating everyone up. Living the image. Paulie was a sneak in your house and gruesomely murder you type character. He'd done so much creepy, shady shit he got respect and fear for it, in spite of it sending him a little eccentric. Paulie murdering that old woman was creepy as fuck. The Soprano's: Now with senior citizen murders. Ralph believed he was bulletproof, in spite of being clearly mentally unfit to serve in Tony's crew. Other characters you're encouraged to hate like Richie and Phil don't come close to how fucking detestable Ralphie was. Paulie could have killed him easily.
Explain how Paulie could have killed Ralph "easily"? Paulie is 15 years older, if not more. Ralph seems in good shape, is younger, and just as vicious as Paulie.
Mitchell Scott That's your opinion. I think it's an incorrect opinion. Frankly, the writing on both The Wire and The Shield exceeded the writing on the Sopranos.
"tony i had to aaa paark the car alll tha way aaa there" n then falls face first pfff LMFAO im on a ten minute break and pray to god its enough time for my pants to dry ...
I would've thought $15,000 is a fair amount to give Paulie. So 12K isn't really that bad if you think about it, despite the fact the heist wouldn't have happened without the alarm code, Tony has a point it was Ralph who did all the hard work involved, all Paulie provided was a number so twelve thousand dollars (out of 100K) for a friggen code is a pretty sweet deal. Paulie was just always a greedy prick when it came to money.
If Paulie staked the place out and got the alarm code, then 25-30k would be far more reasonable. I think Tony pocketed 18-20k from Ralph on the back end of the deal that was really Paulie's money.

@@timbuckthe2nd642better call Saul isn’t anywhere close to the sopranos
The Sopranos in MY Humble Opinion was The GREATEST SHOW Ever Produced For TV 1:06
Has any TV show ever had such a perfect cast? I can't think of a single actor that is out of their depth and its all glued together by the amazing Gandolfini. A lesson in programme making.
2:17 Paulies face always gets me 😂😂😂 looks like Beaker from The Muppets
So much to love about that scene... Poor Furio, on one leg but parking the car legally a mile away, while Ralphie just parks were ever he pleases and then spends the entire sit down cracking wise - Ralphie was a complete psycho, but him and Junior got most of the great lines... and seeing Paulie get wound up was always a hoot (and Ralphie knew how easy it was to do - and how much fun it was).
Love Tony's pause and side eye at 2:22 "Did you just question my decision in front of others?"
Furio knew tony didn’t want to deal with this so he caused a distraction very loyal.
you mean loyle
@@josephc6016 haha well done, i havent manuged to use "loyle" yet
You're an idiot.
Paulie: It's the most expensive retirement home in the State
Tony: It's not a retirement home it's a Covid Community !
SHE WAS ABUSIVE TO THE MASKS !!!
So people dying of this in nursing facilities is funny? You people need help.
@2 demons attached I am a firefighter/paramedic. I understand the humor. I've lived it for almost 35 years. This is no joke. It didn't "disappear" after the election. It's not going away any time soon. It's time more people take it seriously. It's killing people and ruining people's lives.
@2 demons attached That is a shame about the ambulances. I feel for you and your society. Good luck and God Bless to your side of the "pond"
@Frosty Jim I agree completely. Problem is the "entitlement" attitude of a lot of people that think that they can do whatever they want and the hell with everyone else. It's a shame.
"They left him waitin outside like an asshole, eleven degree weather!" 🤣
There's a bee on your ice
+Wasim Mohammed i laughed way too hard and way too long at this.
+King MultiGenre lol
There's a bee on a you ice -- TIFIFY :)
Stupida fuckin' cane!!
Stupida fackeen woond
I like how when Paulie lunges at Ralph, Ralph doesn’t even flinch.
If Ralph stood up to and fought Tony he definitely wasn't scared of Paulie.
Ralph wasn’t even scared of Tony no way would he be scared of Pauli’
Like Matt Barnes and Kobe.
Ralph made so much money for Tony he felt untouchable
I can imagine the script for this scene these 4 had to see.
(Furio falls over)
(Ralph, Silvio, Tony run over to help)
(Paulie stays sitting down, pissed)
“They left him waiting outside his house like an asshole. Fucking 11 degree weather” 😂
It's a retirement community XD
Another example of great writing on the show.
Paulie sitting at the table alone at the end is definitely a sign for the last episode where he's sat on his own
Silvio walking over like hes gonna do damage to the ice Furio slipped on. Stomp it to death lol. I've watched this clip so many times i laugh equally as hard every time.
"Tomorrow Ill be on time, but you'll be stupid forever!" I hated Ralph's character, but that is a classic line!
The flying saucer was the best punchline of all time after Paulie said I can't believe this hahahahha
As soon as Paulie said "nursing home" he cut whatever amount he was gonna get in half, lol
I just love how Ralphie rushes over to kiss Tony in the cheek like he’s an aunt you haven’t seen in a while
Geez man I don't know how much betrayal Paulie's heart can take
The thought of Little Paulie standing in 11 degree weather looking like an asshole makes me laugh every time
Paulie’s glare to Ralph after he said 11 degree weather. Lmao always gets me
i love how tony can barely hide his disdain for paulie here
06hatter- So do I--especially when Tony Soprano says "It's a retirement community.", "I don't know..." as far as when Paulie asks what care package his mother got & "I never recommended it." when Paulie Walnuts says he recommended checking it out.
Great acting job!...
@@tthomaselli2love the tone of voice and face on that I didn’t recommend it
Ralphie always had the best jokes and come backs.
2:38 " Tony, i had to park the car all the way over there"
Tony’s “I dunno..” about the silver bird package LOLL
2:48 Silvio look like Batman with that coat.
ice to meet you, Batman!
Son-noba-beeytch. Furio, what a klutz.
Man, this really is the greatest show ever.
Tony’s annoyance and disinterest in Paulie is hysterical
“I dunno.” The Man couldn’t give less of a fuck.
12 years at my job I’ve been late once. That morning, when confronted about my tardiness, I defaulted to what Ralph would say in that situation
"It's a retirement community" Lmao he says that 20 times during the show
Spihk heart bust!? Can you use Bozeman Hotmail Recipient's Roomies Ghnavel Feces to explain to the Biblical Vessels that all Rhode Island Courthouse are Racist because they got the Coffee sign up inside a Rhode Island Courthouses!?
2:21-2:28 is priceless! lol
It’s something so amazing about the hand gestures in this scene so aesthetically pleasing
"Sit the fuck down and shut up!!!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how this ends on a comedic note, someone slipping on ice is a great way to close a scene.
"Well, tomorrow I can be on time... but you'll be stupid forever". Fucking Ralph lol
XxShadowGTxX I did not hear line clearly. So thanks for repeating it.
Ralph has no fear of Paulie at all!
MP R Tony could barely take Ralph down.
Ghostbusters3 exactly. Ralphie would kick paulie's ass but it'd be close tbh.
Christopher Jay I also agree with that.
Tony is absolutely hilarious in this scene
The coffee cup size actually tripled lol
I always enjoyed the sopranos as they mostly filmed on location rather than sets.
"The package hit Chrissy with an implement and then ran off"
the best show ever, nothing else comes close
*****
...and The Wire was better than The Shield.
marc80s And Breaking Bad was better than both of those.
marc80s Wrong and wrong. The Sopranos is the greatest show in the history of American television. Nothing and I mean nothing is close to it.
Mitchell Scott Wrong!!!
Mitchell Scott
That's your opinion. I think it's an incorrect opinion. Frankly, the writing on both The Wire and The Shield exceeded the writing on the Sopranos.
"tony i had to aaa paark the car alll tha way aaa there" n then falls face first pfff LMFAO im on a ten minute break and pray to god its enough time for my pants to dry ...
wat?
Tony feels like he's disciplining his two fighting kids LMAO
Love how after Furio falls Ralph's quick to jump up also. Though it was not cause he gave a damn, it was just to leave Paulie sitting alone lol
0:05 How I feel showing up to a family party
Paulie: Is that how you dress for a meet'n? In a wig? And you're late...
@Ralph Cifaretto I want you to endorse me for 50G...
@Johnny Twobyfour Anything more than 10 minutes, you're saying something...
Some of the best few minutes of dialogue in TV history 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love the setting here. A cold, crisp morning down by the docks (?) drinking coffee.
I wish my day consisted of sit downs, making calls and eating cold cuts from my fully stocked fridge
Sure. But your nights would consist of chopping people's limbs in a meat grinder.
Ha. Not every night. Only maybe a night or 2 a year.
+wogacelli
Can you explain the part where Paulie had to give Vito half of the money from robbing the Colombian drug cartels then?
@@thesuperstar6256 Excatly. I think fair share for Paulie would be at least 30k
If Paulie staked the place out and got the alarm code, then 25-30k would be far more reasonable. I think Tony pocketed 18-20k from Ralph on the back end of the deal that was really Paulie's money.
It always makes me laugh when tony switches from calling it a retirement community and nursing home depending on who he is talking to
Rest in peace Paulie 🙏 🪦
Ralphie turning up late on purpose as he knew Pauline would annoy Tony and make him lean towards taking his side
lol "The silver bird package"
"Sit down, relax, have a coffee.".
Sil’s stomp over to help him up is how I now march into every monthly one to one at work with the director.
For some reason the way Silvio walks to Furious always looks funny and makes me laugh
Tony: "Jesus Furio, you alright?
Furio: I had eh fak-en bee on my 'ead!'
lol
RIP tony sirico aka paulie walnuts
