I got the 8 subwoofer couple of days ago and it's insane. It'll work in any room, especially if treated. I have the 5's classic and I use the sub at 20% volume with them.
Thank you! Your tip on moving around the room to find the best position blew my mind. I will definitely try that one. I don't think you mentioned the bypass switch on the KRK sub. I realise this wasn't a review but... To me it seems like a stroke of genius. It allows you to mute/un mute the sub and the filter, sending full-range audio to your monitors using a "standard" foot switch. Making it possible to check the phase alignment in the overlapping frequencies, at the listening position, and fine tune the position of the sub, without having to re-patch! You could also use it to great effect at a DJ gig. Engaging the sub after an intro or a break down, would enhance the dynamic lift. You could "play" the sub, controlling the dynamics in the low end with your foot. Since I am still waiting for delivery of my KRK S8.4, these are still theories to be proven. But I've got a good feeling about this one. I was impressed by your clear and concise presentation on a very complicated subject. Even tough I already knew most of the stuff, I continued watching, just enjoying the show. And was rewarded by the positioning tip😎 So thank you. I'll be back𝄢
The 10s is insane. My only real dislike is it carries. I dont mean you can hear it in the next room or even across the house. you can hear it down the road.
Awsome vid. I have a question please. I have a ddj 400 and want to connect 2 pairs of pioneer dm 40 speakers and a sub to my setup but I don't know how to. The sub I have has no crossover and all the audio mixers seem to have just 1 output. I'm very new to this so any help would be brilliant thank you
lost me @ 2:18, "Speakers" come agree or disagree the KRKs are monitors , the fact they are pre amped and you can adjust them independently , kind of suggests they are monitors?
Hey Phil I have 15” Yamaha’s for gigs some outside, do u think a sub is needed. I often feel warmth is lacking would a sub amend this. ?Love your tutorials thanks for your time
Best thing to do is rent one and find out, warmth is a somewhat subjective term so it's the best way to find out if it's going to fix your perceived issue :)
I'm looking at investing at 2 x 15" active Pa speakers for when im playing at small parties. Should I invest in the best pa speakers such as RCF, or buy cheaper speakers (like Alto or JBL) so I can afford a sub too?
Great Video….Thanks Phil…..definitely taught me few things in Regards to Subwoofer knowledge, 👊🏽😄, i owns High End JBL monitors, The ROKIT’s have caught my Eyes, I just may purchase that Sleekish looking…Subwoofer… Soon’…..🤓⚡️Nice Video….Digital DJ Tips🎼🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨Definitely Learned Alot!!!!!! RCF 18” one will do but if you love BASS 🔉🔉🔉 get a pair. For mid size rooms 1500 square feet I use 2 RCF ART 12” 2 RCF 15” Subs and when the floor fills I add one more Behringer 18” but should add another.
It's quite a personal choice really, if you're a DJ I wouldn't bother with those monitors, if you're a producer making dance music then it'd be worth at least trying one out
Depends how many people turn up and size of room. A handful of people you could get away with a set up like in the video, but larger rooms and more people you might need larger speakers
Depends how loud you want to go, The size of the room and party, and the positioning of the monitors. For example, u dont want the monitors’ tweeters sitting at waist level, the sound will just be absorbed by the humans and not spread throughout the room opposed to having them up high and above heads (thats why you see PA systems in the air and up high, not on the floor). Also keep in mind that monitors are super flat, from my experience i want to use a PA system or speakers designed for party/event use, high ends are modified, low end is boosted etcetc. Plus PA speakers are MEANT to be pushed and slammed to the near max where monitors are designed for mainly sound design. But work with what you got, just be prepared and dont blow your equipment by using it for something its not intended for
@@digitaldjtips Sadly a long way of getting the same feel of MoS. Their 4 speaker towers have 12 x 21inch, 9.5kw active subs, 12 x 18in subs and 12 x Martin Audio W8C mid-high speakers each !. With a claimed total of 100,000 Watts output. But they only run it at 25%.

I have to say I’ve been a Rokit fan for quite a while. The 10” Sub in the series has been on the list for quite some time now.
Same here Toby!

Hi Phil. Can I add a 2nd subwoofer to my setup. If so, how must it be connected?
I currently have a controller, sub 8 and a pair of monitors
What’s the best subwoofer you would recommend for Rockville speakers
Thank-you Phil for the info .
No problem!
What is the best RCA cable? Does thicker cables help, gold ends, or brand differ? Thanks for the help. 😊
As long as they're not dirt cheap, any will do.

Controller to sub, sub to speakers
Hi
I have got 2 Rcfs 745 Tops.
I need Subwoofers.
Should i get 1 Rcf 8004 (Single)
or 2 Rcf 705 (Pair) ?

People use them interchangeably all the time, this wasn't a highly technical discussion about playback systems

does it have to be one brand of regular speakers and subs or can it be different brands?
It can be different brands

Go for the best you can afford and add a sub later
I have the monoprice 8inch and the 10 inch studio sub.
It BANGS. I love those monitors.

What is the lightest most powerful sub you recommend for mobile dj with a bad back?
@Marin Pavešić Thank you so much. I will look into the 3 subs you recommended. I greatly appreciate your support.
Thanks for helping Marin!
The one day I tune in live and it's not live. lol
Haha :)
I have krk 8 monitors. Do you think that is worth having additional sub?
It's quite a personal choice really, if you're a DJ I wouldn't bother with those monitors, if you're a producer making dance music then it'd be worth at least trying one out
the smaller your room the more worth it is to get a sub, due to room modes.
With 8inch monitors, the point/effect of a sub is diminished. If you had 5inch monitors then the proposition is more attractive.
Does a 8 inch subwoofer paired with two 5 inch monitors produce enough sound for a party in your living room?
Depends how many people turn up and size of room. A handful of people you could get away with a set up like in the video, but larger rooms and more people you might need larger speakers
