He's so human, so warm & so genuine. Everytime I hear the solo in jungleland I'm so touched & moved I can't speak. Big guy, you'll always be loved & missed.
I bounced in a club in the South in the 80s/90s when Clarence played with his band. He was an excellent gentleman and stuck around till every autograph was signed. A class act.
Yeah, there was never anyone like him, someone so famous and so unbelievably inept at what they do. All the kids in my high school who play saxophone are so, so much better than this man. I’m sure he was a good man, but this man is, sadly, one of the least skilled saxophonists I have ever listened to. If you want to hear a saxophonist that has mastered their craft, check out John Coltrane.
The lesson to be learned from Clarence here is when something is right, you feel it, you know it. That's what should guide you through every decision you make in life. Some things might not go the way you hoped, but it will never feel wrong. Miss you Big Man!
What about all the other decisions he made up til that point ? Many were bad or poor or average and some ok but none magical like this one => your philosophy is BS => all those other decisions developed him and got him ready. Lots of grinding…..and learning…..and growing and developing has to happen => and plenty of failures until lightning strikes……and for many, the falleness of this world or their own falleness prevents it from ever happening => but the overwhelming majority just don’t have the talent…… Stop touting the BS Kool-Aid version of life……

I was lucky enuff to see clarence perform with bruce live,..the power of that sax, with Clarence dressed in black, a long full length coat, a spotlight on him in a dark arena, it gave me chills. he was one hell of a sax man. and obviously one cool guy.

I've been in love with the electric guitar since a was a little kid. Clarence Clemons' sax solos are as cool as any guitar solo in a rock and roll song. I took me years until it dawned on me that most E Street Band songs don't have guitar solos because I never even missed them.
His solos aren’t solos! He is playing 5 notes in different orders out of tune and out of time. Don’t give me the bullshit “oh, you just don’t understand it”. His playing is objectively crap, check out John Coltrane if you want an actual player.

Such a heartwarming story about finding your place and this big old rock we’re all on hurtling through space...nice to hear how two o such iconic figures came in contact with one another but also gives hope for anyone who is searching. I had forgotten just how amazing Clarence’s playing is until by chance I heard Jungleland on the radio last night again after many years, sadly I no longer have my vinyl version of Born to Run but I’m ordering the cd version again today.

Saw him play the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, they were doing requests, Springsteen read out 'Jungleland; my grin could have been any wider, and Clarence strutted his stuff, just matchless, thanks for the memories Mr Clemons, you are still alive and kicking in my world.

I met Clarence just before signing a 5 year contract when he, OK Bruce came to Albany NY in the mid 80',s We were working on a 5 year contract with a recording company, I expressed to C what I saw, what I did not like, Clarence said to me, FAMILY is most important, I walked away from that record deal and have never looked back, I have 9 Kids, 17 grand kids and 4 great grand kids and I build electric propulsion systems for boats today and still play. Clarence set my life where it is today after speaking with him for 5+ hours on the night they came to Alb. Bruce was too busy to talk to, Clarence was Alone, I spent time with the soul that changed my life! He was the one I ,needed at that time in my life to direct me in my journey. I am so grateful and we will play again when it is my time to join him! I look forward to that day, and jamming with all the others that have gone on, We will jam one day! Today I make electric boats, 3HP - 100HP Electric is the way to go and we are looking at 360VDC Power. And I thought I would get away from arc flash potential. I've always been an electrician. 60 years and counting. Still have both Fretless and Fretted Basses. I will take them to the grave with me. Both custom, Both beautiful! I miss all our musicians that have passed and 1 day, We Will JAM TOGETHER!! I want to jam with so many that have past and so many that have not, just do not have that opportunity today. Life, covid, kids, grand kids, My daughter is recovering from brain surgery to remove a tumor on her brain stem, Life just grabs ya after you are not doing this day to day. I have not payed since 1995. How's that? Last gig. But, all that happened after, I am greatful for. I miss playing, I will again, and I will retire and then pich that bad old bass up once again and make some NOISE!!
He was about the double size of Bruce. I remember this surprised me and my girlfriend when we saw them live. Amazing, how the door was torn of and thrown down the street. And with thunder and lightning behind him. What a beautiful story.

Grew up jamming Bruce Springsteen they had their own sound and it was just awesome. The way all the instruments blended together was magical and then Bruce’s voice brought it all together. Loved the Big Mans sax playing it was so electrifying.

What a brilliant story and brilliant man. I saw Clarence when he was alive with Bruce and the E Street Band here in Melbourne around 1986. Springsteen's first time in Australia and it was magical as was Clarence. RIP.

Clarence seemed like a cool dude. I remember reading his unique autobiography, where he creates imaginary conversations with Norman Mailer, one of his favorite writers. I was delighted by this, as I'm a huge Mailer fan.

When I saw Bruce for the first time in 1984 he did Jungleland for his first encore and Clarence’s sax solo just took my breath away.
That happened to me during Rosalita first time I saw Bruces. Loved when Bruce and Clarence rubbed next to each other. Blew me away!

Saw him play the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, they were doing requests, Springsteen read out 'Jungleland; my grin could have been any wider, and Clarence strutted his stuff, just matchless, thanks for the memories Mr Clemons, you are still alive and kicking in my world.
I can listen to this a million times and it still gives me goosebumps! I just love this amazing story and it literally has left a heart print on my life ❤❤

You were the coolest sax player I ever heard and seen RIP brother
I met Clarence just before signing a 5 year contract when he, OK Bruce came to Albany NY in the mid 80',s We were working on a 5 year contract with a recording company, I expressed to C what I saw, what I did not like, Clarence said to me, FAMILY is most important, I walked away from that record deal and have never looked back, I have 9 Kids, 17 grand kids and 4 great grand kids and I build electric propulsion systems for boats today and still play. Clarence set my life where it is today after speaking with him for 5+ hours on the night they came to Alb. Bruce was too busy to talk to, Clarence was Alone, I spent time with the soul that changed my life! He was the one I ,needed at that time in my life to direct me in my journey. I am so grateful and we will play again when it is my time to join him! I look forward to that day, and jamming with all the others that have gone on, We will jam one day! Today I make electric boats, 3HP - 100HP Electric is the way to go and we are looking at 360VDC Power. And I thought I would get away from arc flash potential. I've always been an electrician. 60 years and counting. Still have both Fretless and Fretted Basses. I will take them to the grave with me. Both custom, Both beautiful! I miss all our musicians that have passed and 1 day, We Will JAM TOGETHER!! I want to jam with so many that have past and so many that have not, just do not have that opportunity today. Life, covid, kids, grand kids, My daughter is recovering from brain surgery to remove a tumor on her brain stem, Life just grabs ya after you are not doing this day to day. I have not payed since 1995. How's that? Last gig. But, all that happened after, I am greatful for. I miss playing, I will again, and I will retire and then pich that bad old bass up once again and make some NOISE!!

He was about the double size of Bruce. I remember this surprised me and my girlfriend when we saw them live. Amazing, how the door was torn of and thrown down the street. And with thunder and lightning behind him. What a beautiful story.

Grew up jamming Bruce Springsteen they had their own sound and it was just awesome. The way all the instruments blended together was magical and then Bruce’s voice brought it all together. Loved the Big Mans sax playing it was so electrifying.

What a brilliant story and brilliant man. I saw Clarence when he was alive with Bruce and the E Street Band here in Melbourne around 1986. Springsteen's first time in Australia and it was magical as was Clarence. RIP.

Clarence seemed like a cool dude. I remember reading his unique autobiography, where he creates imaginary conversations with Norman Mailer, one of his favorite writers. I was delighted by this, as I'm a huge Mailer fan.
