The sax solo in Jungleland never fails to send a shiver down my spine and make my eyes well up. The Big Man is immortalized through his brilliant music.
Clemons said that the Jungleland solo took a lot out of him. He states that Springsteen really beat it out of him. It was epic and if you notice it's really a series of smaller solos cropped togheter rather than one long solo.
every year since his passing ...I look at this remembrance and think back to a time when I first saw them live...over 30 years ago.. the greatest gift he and Bruce have given us is their music,,,it shall never die..

Watched it again today! I know, that big man CC is smiling in heaven when he sees and hears his nephew play his sax while being on stage with his blood brother Bruce. I know that he's very proud and happy for Bruce and the E street band, his brothers in music, his friends. We still miss this great saxplayer, 'our' big man CC.

My Dad was a huge fan of Bruce and Clarence. The Big Man died about a month before my dad did. I like to imagine them in the afterlife, the conversations they might be having. R.I.P. to two great men.

It still brings a chill , goose bumps and A TEAR DOWN MY FACE The last time I seen a show live was closing night at Shea Stadium the band came out for Another song ... I was in the last row dead center nose bleed section ...Bruce asked after he chuckled & asked " what song do you guys what to hear " and I screamed with everything I had for my favorite song Johnny 99 ...Bruce pointed up to where he heard voice coming from walked to his guitar case took his herminica out , strapped it on and said I heard you up there and played Johnny 99 ps my hand still hurts from about 50 or so Springsteen fans high fiving me that could not believe Bruce heard me.... Mr. Springsteen.......... ( Bruce ) also saw you and family In a restaurant on water in your home town ( not going to metion either) it took everything in my power honestly not to bother you & family during your alone time with family EVEN WHEN YOU ARE MY FAVORITE ARTIST AND Know EVERY WORD TO ALL YOUR SONGS... I take my hat off to Mr. Williams for this incredibly beautiful piece on The Big Man. This world was so lucky to have known Clarence Clemons. I am 21 years old and I discovered the music of Bruce back in 2005-2006 when I was a sophomore in High School. I actually had the honor and the privilege of seeing the full E Street Band (including Danny) back in 2008 and again in 2009. I am heartbroken that I will never see Clarence on a stage again. We will NEVER forget him or the music he gave us.
What a gift! He accented that band to a Tee!!! I remember watching videos late at night when I was young! I saw him for the 1st time & was blown away at his saxophone 🎷 play! “Dancing in the Dark!” A great saxophonist

While attending Maryland State College, Clarence also joined his first band, the Vibratones, which played James Brown covers and stayed together for about four years between 1961 and 1965. While still playing with this band, he moved to Somerset, New Jersey, where he worked as a Counselor for emotionally disturbed children at the Jamesburg Training School for Boys between 1962 and 1970. It takes a special kind of man to help care for emotionally disturbed children. Clarence supposedly met Bruce for the first time in September 1971.

Exactly 2 years after the Big Man died, I went to see Bruce and the E St band in Glasgow.It was the first time I'd been to see them and I was completely moved by the atmosphere in the stadium as they made a tribute to Clarence, the place was overflowing with emotion! RIP Big Man
The Big Man simply can not be replaced Songs like Thunder Road and Jungleland will never be the same without him. I thank God for having hear him live in Houston 1978. He will be missed. I can only imagine what Heaven's band must sound like.

Clarence I bought your first album with Bruce Springsteen and you were the first thing that I noticed on that album. Once I got to know the albums I was always waiting for the sax to cut in it was unbelievably good. Northern Canada
I remember bringing home a tenor saxophone from school when I started taking instrumental music in 1976 and the very first thing I wanted to learn how to play was Jungleland and other Clarence Clemons parts from my collection of Springsteen albums. Epic sound, great memories never to be forgotten. Sadly missed
I shed a few tears when I heard this. As a kid in the early 70's my family spent summers in Asbury Park and I usta play on the Boardwalk around The Stone Pony. I didn't know who they were back then, but they usta chill and talk to us kids. This tribute brought tears again, but this time with a smile. LOVE YOU BRO and keep BLOWIN' as you REST IN PARADISE!!!!
I saw Clarence play with bruce on stage as many did,....and just as everyone did, the chills ran down my spine when Clarence cut down on that sax,....a religious experience !!!
At the concert last night in Buffalo I was so excited to see the show, and then when I started to look on stage I saw no big man, it was a sad and upsetting image. The third song he played was The Ties That Bind and clarence's nephew played the sax solo and I started to tear up remembering Clarence. Then when he played my city of ruins next, he said something about the big man and I just broke down in tears. I miss my idol. He will always be remembered.
Been listening to Clarence today. Six years ago today. Man, nobody could play more beautiful! NOBODY! FYI, he had the choice to play pro football or play music. Thanks Big Man for choosing music!

I'll never forget the day. I was in FL, my family took a beach walk but I stayed at the house. When they got back, I was crying my eyes out.

I remember bringing home a tenor saxophone from school when I started taking instrumental music in 1976 and the very first thing I wanted to learn how to play was Jungleland and other Clarence Clemons parts from my collection of Springsteen albums. Epic sound, great memories never to be forgotten. Sadly missed
I shed a few tears when I heard this. As a kid in the early 70's my family spent summers in Asbury Park and I usta play on the Boardwalk around The Stone Pony. I didn't know who they were back then, but they usta chill and talk to us kids. This tribute brought tears again, but this time with a smile. LOVE YOU BRO and keep BLOWIN' as you REST IN PARADISE!!!!

I saw Clarence play with bruce on stage as many did,....and just as everyone did, the chills ran down my spine when Clarence cut down on that sax,....a religious experience !!!
At the concert last night in Buffalo I was so excited to see the show, and then when I started to look on stage I saw no big man, it was a sad and upsetting image. The third song he played was The Ties That Bind and clarence's nephew played the sax solo and I started to tear up remembering Clarence. Then when he played my city of ruins next, he said something about the big man and I just broke down in tears. I miss my idol. He will always be remembered.

I can't stand Brian Williams, but this was a very lovely tribute to an amazing musician! "Jungleland" is such a moving song and Clarence's sax solo is so moving. There are songs that I enjoy and then there are songs that make me stop what I am doing, close my eyes, and listen to the beauty. That's what Clarence's touch on "Jungleland" does for me. RIP CC!
