Excellent information. Makes perfect sense. If you just cut & paste someone else’s settings you won’t know what the different options do and you won’t know which one is working or not or possibly interfering with what you are trying to find. Good advice Gary!!
Excellent advice Gary. I just got my first ctx and I'm excited. I was watching some utube basics on the ctx and thought about using some utuber settings for the ctx to start out. I've been using x cal for some years and I pretty much learned that machine the same way you just described learning a new machine. So, you clip has set me in the right direction and I will learn the manual, tweak and adjust from there and not rely on others settings. Thank you! Joseph
You’re absolutely right Gary. I did the same thing when I got frustrated finding stuff. Went back to orig settings. I use park one the most and find stuff.
I actually took a lesson from Gary a few years ago (worth every penny IMO) with my Equinox and we couldn't get the noise cancel to start. I went home and downloaded the software update and "viola" works great. I do that every few months now, just to be sure. It only took like 5 minutes.
I bought a medal detector about two years ago and the first time I used it just walking along the River walk I found about five dollars in change most was on the top of the ground pretty much but ever since then I ha went found much but I tend to want to wear my steel toed boots when I happen to get a chance to go. Trying to get away from that, but my question is this, I’m pretty familiar with my detectors settings and sensitivity settings but I seem to get a lot of just randomness from it with a lot of beeps sometimes and I’ll dig down pretty deep to find nothing at the best signals. That gets irritating my detector I got off of Amazon for 120$ and it seems like it respond well and I think to need to work on reading my depths better and finding the targets I feel like I have a hard time with sometimes too. Still new to it for sure. I like your videos they’ve helped me out a lot since watching them. Thank you. My mother grew up on an island that’s said to have treasures on it so one day I’m going to go to that place an look around
Went to my old man's over in Lincolnshire n a guy we used to go Taekwondo with came up in conversation n my Dad said he's a metal detectorist on telly n then it clicked. I'm a Oak Island watcher. Can't believe where you've ended up mate. I was only a young un n not sure you'll remember me but my owd man is Robin Beauchamp. Robin is a keen detectorist. 👍🏻
Hey Gary , I’m a big fan & love the oak island 👍. I have been metal detecting for 8 yrs now . I’m looking to step up in detector I’m looking at the Equinox 600 I’m a big coin shooter & like the relics as well , my question is your thoughts on the 600 ? Thanks Rick 988 .✌️
With minelab you have to download the manual I actual print them off for my machines I prefer reading it that way . Different land needs different settings I find . Nice to hear a fellow Lincolnshire accent take care Gary
Hi Gary,,,I been using my CTX3030 for a lil over 2 months..It can be a lil confusing at times but still haven't struck gold yet.but I have with my Equinox 800..Im here in northeast Fla..an its constantly sanded in..Do you recommend to keep moving to new spots thru the day if your getting no results or should i stay longer on one area..It seems like the waterline at the jax beach pier results in very few to no targets 99% of the time at low tide ..an theres always many people? I was always puzzled on that
HELP!! Looking for a new detector. I am very upset Whites went out of business. I have used the XLT for years and mastered it. Its finally on its last leg and Im still using it, limping it through and STILL finding AWESOME items, but unfortunately, realize the time is coming to get a new one. You mention the minelab Equinox ( I am leaning towards that) and the Ctx 3030 which I haven't ruled out. I bought a Nokda Makro simplex plus as a back up but what I do not like about it is the pinpoint mode will not give eyou an idea of size of object in the ground. Does minelab tell you approximate target size in pinpoint mode?
Gary, big fan! Have the NOX 600, had it for nearly 2yrs now. Best detector I’ve had hands down. My question though is what do you recommend for highly mineralized ground for the Equinox 600?
Hi Gary, I just subsribed to your channel after asking on Instagram what your TH-cam channel was. ✌😁 What are the brands you recommend for land and under water searching? Cheers
I’m a sucker for digging every signal and bagging the trash lol well my kids loved to dig my flags with another cheap detector. My son found targets with a cheap detector I didn’t find with my thousand dollars models
Fantastic Gary. I am 1 ov those people who follow others settings. But back to basics from now on mate thank you and keep up the good work

Thanks for the advice Gary can't wait for the new season of oak island

Great advice, that Nox is simple. We can overthink it, beep, dig, repeat. Always learning, have a great night Gary.
Great advice I just popped my equinox on 3 recovery thanks 👍👍👌

Hi Gary, I'm Marcello, I live in Brazil and I would like to receive a book from you as a gift, congratulations on the youtube channel!
Dude, I need help for VT hunting...
It would be great to see you and TH-cam nugget noggin metal detectorist come together 👍😎
Hi Gary, I just subsribed to your channel after asking on Instagram what your TH-cam channel was. ✌😁 What are the brands you recommend for land and under water searching? Cheers
I Love My Sovereign :)

Couldn't metal detect in the states, there's sod all there to find.

Is there a best detector for night hawking?
It's the Power Rangers kids detector featured on an episode of Detectorists. That is all a Night Hawk deserves!
