Great tips Gary, thanks for sharing them! In my area, I do a lot of door knocking for permissions. Often times, even if I don't get that particular permission, homeowners will tell me about a really old or historic home or area in the neighborhood, or tell me where something happened nearby in the past. There have even been times where after saying no to detecting but staying outside chatting about history, they changed their minds and let me detect anyway. It's my opinion that you should always be friendly and nice when you door knock, even if they say no. I thank them for their time and go on to the next one. Sometimes, a no can become a yes later on..😎👍
Libraries are a great resource . I once heard someone say " Books are like TV for smart people". lol Also old county maps can be revealing .Good stuff Gary .
Thanks for doing this channel Gary! I’ve been a fan of yours for years, as well as an Oak Island fanatic. You inspired me to get into metal detecting here in Baldwin County, Alabama. We’ve got plenty of history down here as you know, and I’ve been having a blast searching and digging! Thanks again for your guidance, it’s very valuable! Take care sir!
Good to find you brother, just watched COOI. Really enjoy watchin your adventures swinging. I live in good country (CA) next to a gold bearing river. Always lookin for mining camp sites where the old 49ers made camp when they weren’t on the river. Thanks for the advice. 👍🏻🏆
Do you use that Minelab 30/30 most the time on the beach and in the surf? I'm up the road from you around the Melbourne area and what do you think about the garret Pro in the sand surf? Do you think it can handle all the minerals in the sand do go ok? Thanks so much for sharing. Thank you.
I use the Minelab CTX 3030 on the beach and the Minelab Excalibur in the surf the majority of the time. As for the garret I gotta be honest no hand held pin-pointer is too much help close to saltwater.
Thank you for your wisdom, sir. I am from 'over the pond', as you Brits like to say...but I admire your honour. Always return personal effects, if possible...and never sell them. Metal detecting is just a small part of my search for metals, but I am curious to know; does there exist a waterproof metal detector that can alert me to the gold content in black sand?
@@claudeladow2334 I would metal detect that island till the death of me. How awesome would it be to just wake up and do what you love doing especially on a island with so much history. Gary is extremely lucky for the skills and knowledge and ability to be there in scotia with Marty and Rick and the crew. I always dream of being on a hunt as big as this.
@@tangosucka3 well, just heard there is going to be a new season. Looking forward to it. Gary needs more screen time detecting, instead of show constantly repeating everything.
Hey mate! I'm digging the channel it's pretty cool ...I'll see you out there on the treasure Coast or not😳 I'll try to leave some treasure behind for you 🏴☠️💍💎💰👑☠️😅🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
Man it's getting pretty hard to find much where I am in Ontario but I did find this map online of old plots and when you keep zooming in, it turns into a modern day map of it. Last summer I found some old plots by a hiking trail. Nothing at all on the surface but got a few 1910 era pennies, early beaver trap, a chinese cash coin? Wt hell is that doing there? A mercury dime, in ontario? Ok I'll take it. A couple horsehoes, axe heads, so if you have patience it can pay off. Especially when it's so hard to find things around here.
Hi Gary, I have had the CTX 3030 for a few years but still struggling with it, my big problem is shotgun bases where the tubes have rotted away, I’ve spent days digging them it’s so frustrating, any tips?

Love Y'a Gary What's up with Oak Island?....
Well, since he has time to make these videos, maybe the gave up or ran out of money. I'd rather watch Gary's informative videos anyway.

Thank you for the information. I am often wondering if it is ‘ok’ to be where I am and if I need to let someone know I’m there.
