    I bought ifi ZEN DAC in order to your recommendation! I love it so much. Thank you.

    At some point my NX4 stopped working as dac/amp, It works as only lineout dac. Finally, I recently decided to send It to Topping to repair It, they said most likely can be repaired for free, paid-only shipping. I also have the hip dac and I noticed, while hip dac is easier to listen to, I kinda like NX4 more, It has more liveliness to Its sound If that makes sense.. Details are definitely more apparent and It sounds more natural. I kinda missed that all the time listening to the hip dac and I understood that the moment I listened again to NX4's dac, powering on xduoo xd 5 plus.

      Yes, but not well. If you want bright, take a look at the Monolith THX Portable or EarMen TR-Amp.

    What's the sound differences between the Topping nx4 and the DF Red?

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The NX4 is neutral and the Red is not. The Red is a warm-sounding dac, hides details, melds frequencies, and is not nearly as powerful as the NX4.

    • @andreaaaaaaa574
      @andreaaaaaaa574 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NoThemeReviews thank you, and what about the "open sound" impression? Someone told me that the Red sound very open, is the same with the NX4?

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no idea what that person means by “open sound”. This is a vague term. If he means that the Red has wide soundstage, then that’s wrong. Dave and amps do not alter soundstage. If he means that the Red has a detailed sound, he’s wrong again. The Red has a warm, intimate sound signature that tends to veil details. If he means that the Red sounds “better” than whatever he was using before-then that’s a matter of personal taste.

    • @andreaaaaaaa574
      @andreaaaaaaa574 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NoThemeReviews yeah i think he meant the soundstage, he also said that the Red is more detailed than the Hip Dac and Fiio Q1 that i own (the Q1 is terrible for me, the Hip Dac is accettable but too warm) anyway i don't want to take the DF Red, i think it's overpriced, maybe the Topping Nx4 is the best choice

    This or the hip dac? I already listen to LG G6's sabre DAC and have a 9018q2m based usb dongle dac, Just wanted to upgrade to something new.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the NX4 is fairly neutral so if that’s what you like, it’s a good product. Of course, your other devices have a similar sound signature. The Hip Dac has a more U-shapes signature. Frankly, I prefer to try new things which is why I got the Hip Dac. I has a hint of warmth which makes analytical headphones more pleasing to listen to.

    Sorry for being low minded person. But what is the best sounding portable amp/dac for portable devices. Especially for argons and hd800s.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well "best sounding" is subjective. If you want to know which portables can drive the Argons and 800s, then the answer is: NX4, xDuoo XD05, xCan. I'm sure there are a few others that I'm not recalling. The xDuoo has an analytical sound signature. The xCan retains iFi's signature sound--a bit smooth but otherwise close to neutral. I would think (just my opinion) that with a headphone like the Argon it makes more sense to have a neutral, maybe leaning on analytical, amp/dac because the Argon have that thick bass. For the 800s, I think neutral to a little warm is the way to go--but that's just my personal preference.

    • @nicktan4530
      @nicktan4530 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NoThemeReviews Maybe agrons and HD800s would not be the right selection. Let me rephrase, best sounding portable amp/dac for portable devices in terms of power, distortion/noise level and neutral sound quality. At least that you know and fond of as well as your personal opinion ? The ones you tried at least. For every portable amp/dac device you test and know, which one is your favorite personally for your gear and lifestyle. I know is not Mojo one thing for sure.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nicktan4530 Actually, I don't mind the Mojo. It's the false marketing and incredibly bad customer service I dislike. My personal favorite portables are the following in order: 1) xCan/xDSD; 2) Monolith THX Portable; 3) Fiio Q5; 4) UP4; and 5) NX4.

  • @jimis3167
    @jimis3167 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    THANK YOU!!! My wish finally came true for starting the NX4! I'll wait next video to be the comparison between the THX AAA portable or that will take just a little longer??? And I also have It in silver color as well.. I'm impressed with this product, I think It maybe outstands in sound quality many other amp/dacs but It's better for low ohm headphones, I use It with m40x and they sound very good through NX4, the bass boost adds only the lower bass frequencies which missing on m40x and this I like a lot. Bass boost also doesn't interapt with other frequencies other than lower bass and that's awesome If you ask me.. BEST PRODUCT, especially for the price..

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a USB Dac and I’m pretty sure you can output from the S10 with an OTG cable. You should check online about whether the S10 can be attached to an external Dac. I don’t know any reason why it wouldn’t work.

    I bought it because of its good reviews and I am kind of disappointed. While the sound when connected through usb is very good, when connected as an amp only, there is loss in miro detail . I used it as an amp connected with by fiio btr3 Bluetooth dac and everytime I prefer the sound coming out directly from btr3 rather than this setup. With the nx4 connected the sound feels colored and there was loss in some micro details and dynamics.
    The headphone I used were hd 598 ,hd 650 and he 4xx. Especially with the 650 there was a loss in dynamics in my experience.
    Anyway through the normal ubs connection the sound is good I dont have any complaints.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's pretty weird. At first I thought it might be a BT connection downsampling which caused the loss of resolution, but you did say the experience was different directly from the BT device. A possible alternative explanation is that if you're connecting the BT device via 3.5mm to the NX4, you're amplifying an amplified signal...theoretically that might contribute to loss of resolution or detail. It would be interesting to see if you can plug the NX4 to a device's line out. That might help determine an answer.
