Tekkit reached the height of it's popularity when Yogscast started playing through it. I would attribute a fair amount of the rise of Minecraft modding popularity to them.
@@rawrthedinosawr9659 Back then though, those mods were absolutely huge relative to the content in minecraft at the time. Nowadays there are so many more QoL and library/framework mods.
Yeah. Reminds me that time i installed 270 mods, and was so proud of myself, that I fixed all id and mod conflicts. But the game itself wasn't any playable. It was possible to walk, but blocks and mobs updated once per minute.
I played all of these, but the Crafting Dead will always hold a special place in my heart, I was a huge fan of TWD and that mod really did it for me. But seeing it just become nothing is so depressing lol.
Crafting dead was great but for me personally i loved Decimation (formerly Escape from Novikov). It was a zombie apocalypse mod like crafting dead and imo much better just extremely underrated.
Tekkit is evolution of THE Technic pack, which was first to integrate all those techmods you mentioned, plus some more (millenaire and the like). Tekkit was meant to be server-compatible Technic before kind of abandoning adventure-type mods, which were compiled in another notorious modpack YogBox
I remember playing hexxit and tekkit ages ago. Few years back I replayed them just to see how time has affected it, and gotta say they aren't bad even to this day.
Im that old, that i remember RedCraft and BuildCraft mods, they were the best in combo with Industrial. I want these days back, when ender IO came out, everyone started to use it, but i really like animated pipes from BuildCraft, sadly most of them are not updating anymore... Good old days
Tekkit classic has to be my all time favourite modpack. Adding Forestry for 1.2.5 back into it (if you can find the jar and fix any bugs), and it's near perfect to me. Nuclear reactors from IC2 are so much more involved than BigReactors or Nuclearcraft - and the possibility of a meltdown ending your base if you're not careful is a great tradeoff for the huge power output vs just turning on a Big Reactor and leaving it to run. EU and MJ being two different power systems honestly makes sense! One is electricity and one is kinetic energy, of course you need a power converter between the two! Forestry being added allows the automation of crops and trees, something i'm not sure can be automated in base Tekkit Classic, and allows for even more awesome factories to be built. New modpacks like Resonant Rise or ATM are fun, but it's so easy to just skip to endgame and find yourself bored. Tekkit does have things like the Energy Condenser and Transmutation table that mean you can make anything into anything, but as manufactured items often dont have an EMC cost, you cant transmute them so you still need auto crafters etc, and the condensers are expensive enough to not want to make dozens of them. But a quarry can just pump everything into one and make endless diamonds. the original Redpower is still amazing to me, ProjectRed does a decent job of porting it to new versions, but IMO, the original is still better, it integrates better with other mods due to the blulectric engine, frame motors work perfectly for pre-create block moving. The introduction of Red Alloy makes redstone so much more approachable and allows for so many more options.

In the old OLD days most mods required "permission" to be in a modpack or straight up said you cant put them in a pack. Technic became big explicitly because they ignored these people and just did it anyway. The skyrim modding community could learn something from this.
Absolutely incredible video :O The editing is on point, the narration is great, and your little jokes just spice it up so much. You have a great channel cooking here, keep it up dude! 100% Dropping a sub and clicking the bell

Oh my god, I completely forgot playing on the crafting dead servers at my friend’s house after school. That must’ve been like, 2014 maybe? I was 11, christ.
My favorite modpack is probably FTB Unleashed. It's kinda similar to Tekkit, as they are both tech modpacks from similar versions (unleashed in 1.5, tekkit in 1.6 i believe)
I joined TCD back in 2020 and played with my friends sadly only one still plays. I believe the modpack died because of lack of updates as well as ranks and kits becoming pay to win. The mod developers are working on a 1.18.2 modpack so there is so hope for the return of more players.
much as i love the really old modpacks, as thats what really hooked me on mc in general, i cant go back to play them. while i couldnt care less about new vanilla content, as i am playing a modpack to play with the mods, not vanilla, the lack of a lot of qol on both the vanilla and modded sides makes it very hard to feel comfortable. 1.7 is as far back as i can willingly go. tmi is just not nei or jei, among many other things that would be too long to list and i would have to play it again to remember absolutely everything.
something i find kinda sad is that tekkit is the sister pack to an older pack, technic. while tekkit was more popular because it was SMP, but technic had more mods but due to how old modding was many of its mods only worked in SSP. i think that is also what kinda explains tekkit being much higher on google trends because the technic launcher was very popular back then too but im sure many people, like me back then, would always forget about technic and only think to search tekkit launcher instead XD and hexxit's name is similar because its a technic modpack, so same guys that made tekkit.
I remember wanting to play hexxit but not knowing how to download it because im just a kid, and straight up going into depression for a few days until my brother downloaded it for me
