I remember that many years ago I had seen a video about a mod called Solar Apocalypse in which opening a Pandora's box began a solar apocalypse and another about a mod called The Creep that was about a creeper dimension, currently I have not known anything about the existence of both mods so I guess they have been forgotten.
Hey! I'm the More Creeps and Weirdos project director / lead programmer. Thank you for shouting us out! Freakstritch is also sticking around for the possibility for a 1.20 version of the mod. But our current focus is fleshing out 1.12.2 before porting once again. Currently working on the next update ;)
It's not that the guy hates wolves, it was just Minecraft had unlimited potential at the time, and the community had a ton of suggestions of what to add. And Notch was just like, ta-da wolves! So that guy did what Notch couldn't.
Keep in mind that FC absolutely *HATED* Better Than Wolves being used with other mods despite using the same community-made modding API as most of the other big mods at the time like RedPower and IndustrialCraft, and went out of the way to cause the game to break and crash if BTW detected it was being run with any other content mods.
Here are 2 obscure mods that I remember: Spider Queen mod: It would transform the lower half of your player model into a spider. You could place down webs and cocoon hostile mobs, and then the cocoons would hatch with a different spider depending on the mob you cocooned. Boss Scroll mod(?): I don't remember the name of this one but it added a whole bunch of scrolls that would summon bosses that you could fight. One was a big green spider that put webs everywhere, and another was a blue(?) magma cube. I don't really remember much about this mod but I remember messing around with it after watching a DanTDM video.
Nice video! I'm actually the son of the guy who made the Shape Shifter Z mod (zacuke). Its nice to see that the mod has been remembered lol. The mod was actually updated for 1.7 and was called Shape Shifter X, but it was never fully finished. Once Mojang got bought by Microsoft they changed a bunch of stuff with the code and the eula which mixed with just having a busy life my dad stopped updating the mod.

oh my gosh i remember creeps and weirdos and the zeppelin mod... that's some really good nostalgia, and i totally experienced some of that era of modding. been into mc since 2010
MoCreatures will always have a special place in my heart, it was the first mod I ever used and I remember hours spent building huge stables for horse breeding projects trying to get the special horses--although I never got very far.
Saw a video awhile back where someone played the Better Than Wolves mod. He called it the hardest Minecraft mod ever in the video title. Getting a workbench/crafting table was very difficult and took an incredibly long time. He said he might make a series if people liked the video, so I'll have to check if it came to pass. Anyway, I like to say that it's amazing what you can do when fueled by spite. The creator of Better Than Wolves took this idea and ran with it for a game ending touchdown.
@@chexgex2834 The one I saw goes by RageTrain. Some others have played it though. The names are tcush35 (played to the end), Commander Frost, TdLmc and Dawnraider00. RageTrain hasn't made another video since, so here's hoping.
The whole he made the mod out of spite is an extremely oversimplyfied version of the story. While it's true that he didn't think adding wolves was a good idea at the time, he did so because it was a development intensive feature that didn't really add up to the game's strengths, building. So he did a brainstorming thread, collected some ideas for simple redstone interacting blocks and after that, decided to implement them himself. This sparked his creative juices (he was a retired game designer) so he kept adding more stuff, and eventually changing other parts of the game rather than just adding new blocks, slowly turning it into the challenging survival game he wanted to play at the time. This is what turned BTW into the "hardest Minecraft mod." But while the mod got started in 2010-2011. the majority of the difficulty the mod presents now didn't came to be until 2018, as the mod evolved along the changing tastes and the demand for more challenge of it's author.
The Legend of Notch deserves it's own entry since the mod is quite gigantic and very story driven.. it's a giant RPG mod with sidequests, skills, special abilities and more. The "game" was gigantic for it's time. Reminds me a lot of old zelda games because you have 4 dungeons.
There is no fucking way someone else actually remembers and likes the Moon mod !!!!!! The fact they used cheese for the portal will always be stuck in my head ! Holy crap Creeps and weirdos! I remember watching Pbat(PaperbatVG on YT) playing with this mod and I loved it. It's so creative. Awesome video Ryan glad to see ya getting back into it !
Loved the spider queen mod, and it was the mod that got me into Minecraft when I was young. I thought that the spider queen mod was a core Minecraft feature. (I don't think I knew what "Mod" meant.)
Great video! as well forgot to mention that I remember using SDK's Gun mod, Creeps n Weirdos. The only ones I remember growing up with old mods was the SCPcraft and CreepypastaCraft which was created by Phuck_Yu_Too, Weeping Angels by a_dizzle and Clay Soldiers by KodaichiZero. Aswell as Biosphere by Risugami. Really great mods tbh.
Im so glad you presented more creep’s and weirdos, i hadn’t forgotten about but I couldn’t find any hints as to what it was called anywhere. So thanks!
i dont know if they're still being updated but I had an obsession with tornado mods when I was a squeaker. I remembered Creeps N Weirdos, Shape Shifter Z, Zeppelin & The Moon.
More Creeps n Weirdos brings back a memory I forgot I had. There used to be a video that stayed on my feed 24/7 for weeks back in 2012. It featured that mod. If I ever find that video again I will be happy.
One of the first TH-cam series I really fell in love with was a modded Minecraft series by a guy called leptir1. One of the big mods he used early on in that series was more creeps n weirdos, and I was so happy to see you cover it here
I still play better than wolves, and its HUGE. It added many things to the simple minecraft of that old days and made survival fun. Maybe Mojang made the Campfire based on the mods campfire?
Seeing these again was like a part of my childhood I lost, I remember playing with all of these at some point in my first ever modpacks. Its wild seeing how many old mods have their modern equivalents and how I genuinely gravitated right back to them like nothing changed. I may be a create mod gal now but Better Than Wolves was where it all began for me
I don't know how underrated or well rated it was but I miss the Tale of Kingdoms mod. I specifically remember a youtuber (no memory of the name sadly) who did a tale of kingdoms/spider queen hybrid series that was weird and goofy as hell. I still remember being satisfied any time someone would pick up tons of coins in TOK . Good times.
dude seeing more creeps and weirdos just put such a huge smile on my face, i had totally forgotten about that mod when i used to love it so much!! great video as always :-D love your content
Wow, never expected to see Shape Shifter Z here. Pretty sure I almost completely forgot about it until this video just brought out the memories of me spamming Ghast Fireballs onto a forest. Anyways, I have a few mods I know that have been forgotten to time that I still remember: The Metaworlds Mod: It was a mod for 1.7.10 that allows you to turn anything in your world into moveable "metaworlds" that you can fly similar to the Zepplin mod but all the blocks would still have all of their regular functionality so chests can still store items, liquids would flow as normal, and redstone would work as you would expect. You could also enlarge or shrink these metaworlds allowing for some wacky stuff like a shrunken castle or a giant grass block. The Yogscast actually featured the mod in a couple episodes of Yoglabs. You Are The Creeper Mod: It's was a mod from Beta 1.2_02 that turns you into a creeper. Hostile mobs wouldn't attack you and you could even raise an army of them to attack humans. It also had a sequel that ports it to a more modern version probably like Release 1.2.5 or 1.3.1 and added more features and something interesting to do with villagers. I'm not familar at all with it's sequel. Familars Mod: It was a mod that added a craftable book that allows you to have familars that you could unlock with XP that give you special abilities depending on the familar. The familars consisted of the usual mobs of Minecraft but there were also some from other franchises like the 1-up from Mario, The Companion Cube from Portal, Rana from the old 0.31 Indev version of Minecraft, and Chuck Noris because it was 2011. And while not a mod, there was this old website called Skydaz that hosted installers for mods. This was before Curseforge's launcher for Minecraft even existed and when you had to manually drop files directly into the Minecraft Jar File and delete the Meta-inf file.
Ngl, More Creeps and Weirdos has been living rent free in my head since 2012. The biggest MC youtuber from my country at the time made a series about it, and just like everything he put out, i watched religiously. It stands with Aether and Mo'Creatures as the mods that instantly send me back in time to happier days :')
Woah, I love that you went out of your way to find mods that actually arent covered as frecuently or nostalgia milked as much, really nice video, congrats!
looking at that coral mod, some of the types of coral are extremely familiar. the blue coral looks almost exactly like tube coral from 1.13, and the fans look very similar to the fan corals from 1.13.
Omg i have such strong memories of more creeps and weirdos! I don't know if a youtuber I watched might have used it a lot? But holy shit seeing the mobs takes me back
ok Creeps and Weirdos hits a niche of Minecraft i never knew i wanted- random creatively weird mobs that do different things i hope the fan made update and the original creator who made the mod not only makes the 1.19.2 update, but expands upon the weirdness and other mechanics, like the two robots doing attacks exclusively against their rival, or the lawyers sending you to a courtroom to sue you that’d be awesome
A mod I really loved watching let's plays of and eventually would play myself was the Spider Queen mod. The idea of you being a monster and raising ur army of spiders to take over the world was a very fun concept. I know it's had a few remakes but the OG still has a place in my heart.
Finally someone remember more creeps 'n weirdos. It was, and still will be my favorite mod of all time. It even added structures and new fun mechanics. God i loved discovering things in that mod
I definitely remember mods like more creeps and weirdos and the coral reef mod, but I remember there were other mob mods I remember, there was this one old dinosaur mod that brought you to a dimension filled with them, that mod came out before the fossils and archeology excavation mod and there was also this one mod with these weird creatures, such as an upright cow and pig and some passive blaze looking mob as well, there's a few other mentions as well that not many people might know - a cookie dimension mod - a mod about a dimension full of cats - a shadow dimension mod - and maybe the original nether X mod which added nether armor before Netherite was in the game (a lot of these mods I remember is because I watched a lot of mod showcases from DanTDM when I was around 10-11 years old.)
Ah. More Creeps & Weirdos. Truly one of the founding fathers of Minecraft Mods. There really needs to be a port for more modern versions. Maybe new content too?
Great video, tho could be nice to see Tale of Kingdoms mod too. People dont mention or talk about it anymore and it was by far THE BEST roleplaying mod out there back then
I've been playing with mods in minecraft since 2014 so seeing this video is incredibly nostaligiac. I started playing minecraft back in 2013, and have been keeping up with minecraft since 2011, seeing a lot of these early mod reviews wanting me to play the game especially with mods
The golem factory mod was mad underrated. It was a mod that let you create snow / iron golem type mobs out of any block, and some blocks granted them special abilities or properties. I remember finding a mod review by a channel named Iampeppino after watching the Minecraft ghost video.
I played a lot with the original CJB mod back then. It added a feature that took me years to finally see again: inertial compensation flight. That is, when you stop pressing the W key while fllying, you actually stop right away, unlikke the creative flight where you still go forward for a bit.
Man, I really need mod content like this. It may be my research problem, but modern TH-cam just doesn't have mod showcases and videos like in good old days. Also Legend Of Notch is still my fav mod ever.
There are bound to be a few but even without considering how much lower minecrafts popularity is now, a lot of that golden age minecraft content just doesnt have the same retention rate thanks to how YT works now, i remember multiple TH-camrs speaking out against changes years ago but nowadays that doesnt happen nearly at all even with how poorly youtube fails with reccomendation
I'm noticing Better than Wolves is making a MASSIVE comeback lately. Tons of content creators have made videos on it that have gotten hundreds of thousands if not millions of views
I’ve got to be in a minority here or something, cause I’ve literally never heard of Mo’ Creatures, but absolutely LOVED and fondly remember the More Creeps and Werido’s mod! I had a whole world in creative I dedicated to that mod basically, I had a giant snowman and had a house for the long beard guy!
I might be getting two mods confused, but I swear there was a parkour mod that also had Fist of the North star stuff put into it. So not only did it let you climb blocks and wall jump, but you could also go full Kenshiro on mobs at the cost of your hunger bar. It was hilarious.
thank you for making those videso. i stopped minecraft a short time before the "new" pvp stuff came in and hits became slower, but watching all those old mods and digging up some memories i had with them is so aweseome. thank you so much for your vids
My brother and I loved More Creeps and Weirdo’s! My brother still randomly quotes many of the Killer G lines, as a fun inside joke between the two of us. Lol. I got so sad when the mod slowly stopped working on our old computer for some reason, and half the mobs wouldn’t spawn, and fighting a lawyer would crash the game when you got teleported to the jail, and when the mod eventually got left behind as Minecraft updated.
More Creeps and Weirdos was my favorite mod back in the day. I always made sure that was installed, no matter what...was so sad it was never updated. Coral Reefs were also a staple of my modlist, made it fun to explore the ocean and made is look so pretty...also easy way to make cookies.
Damn I remember messing around with the gun mods with my friends in late 2010 and 2011. Those were the times... We had those NPC mods, gun mods, nuke mods and the zeppelin mod and some other plane mods installed and would recreate maps from Multiplayer FPS games like CoD.
If I remember correctly, back around 1.7.10, there was a mod that added in stuff from the Halo game series. I played with it a lot and had fond memories of building military bases with it installed. It had added in a lot of armor sets, weapons, and alien mobs, though it tended to over do it on crashed pelicans. I would be exploring a world and find a field full of like 20 pelicans just chilling and being on fire.
There was that one mod I’d seen get showcased where you could splice different mobs genes to create new creatures or give yourself their abilities, I could be misremembering, but that mod was what got me interested in mods for Minecraft and their potential, and I’ve not really seen it be used anywhere else
One of the most underrated mods for me would be the Formivore's City Generator Mod, they were versions going back as early as beta 1.5 and as late as 1.7.10 but its been abandoned since, I love the way it generates ruins, so much atmosphere, I wish mojang would add randomly generated ruined roads and cities to the surface but that feel true to the fantasy vibe of minecraft. Formivore's City Generator was the closest thing to that.
Its strange that Better Than Wolves is your favorite. I thought you were gonna say Orespawn or Lucky Block Personally, I really strongly dislike Better Than Wolves. Thats putting it nicely.
Yeah, same here. It really felt less like "these additions would have been a lot cooler" and more "I have a weird hate-fetish against this one game feature in particular", especially as the mod got bigger.
fun how better than wolves seems to slowly be sparking again as well, when you said no hand holding i think you were wrong and it actually did, well, the exact opposite of hand holding
The Zeppelin mod is actually what got me to try the game in the first place, way back. Shame there's no real modern equivalent but iirc it had some pretty major bugs.
More creeps & weirdos is peak. I had a printout of blorp poster in my room growing up even though I never played it until 2022. That's just the power of Blorp Cola.
Thank you for this video, I was searching for the Creeps n Weirdos mod for years! Not knowing english as a child and downloading it just because it looked cool made the search so much worse, I’m glad I finally found the name of it.
One I really liked was Too Many Items (which appeared in your video at minute 2:36) and its successor Not Enough Items, I don't quite remember what they did but I do remember it improved the game's inventory! PS: this is not a mod but I used Keinett Launcher back in the day, its icon with a cake is simply very iconic and nostalgic for me.
Great video, honestly I miss mo creeps and weirdos, super fun But, honestly there was one mod I remember that no one else seems to and thats like, radiationcraft or something and it had a ton of materials and radioactive liquids you could craft with and stuff and unlike most radiation mods these days it didn't have power gen but laser guns or something I forget And also, the lovely grey goo mod, wish that got an update somehow..
While i dont have any recollection of the name of the mod, i do remember seeing a mod like you described in one of the many mod showcases i watched, even having that inkling is crazy with how long ago i actually watched minecraft mod vids
Yo the creeps and weirdos part of the video gave me the biggest nastolgia trip i recinzied every mob he showed each time i felt the nastolgia kick in lol
it feels so good to be back to the regularly scheduled nostalgia! which from this list was your favorite? what other mods can you think of?
Great vid as always! They would not fit into the list but I really miss Bibliocraft and Thaumcraft. :(
I remember playing Traincraft when I was new to the game. Also the classic versions of Jurassicraft (which became muddied in controversy later on)
I remember that many years ago I had seen a video about a mod called Solar Apocalypse in which opening a Pandora's box began a solar apocalypse and another about a mod called The Creep that was about a creeper dimension, currently I have not known anything about the existence of both mods so I guess they have been forgotten.
could you talk about kataminey damacraft
Divine RPG was a really cool mod back in the day. With tons of new mobs, weapons and dimensions, it felt way ahead of it's time.

My God! I remember loving watching TH-camrs playing the Creeps and Weirdos Mod!!
I felt a wave of nostalgia!!
Omg i have such strong memories of more creeps and weirdos! I don't know if a youtuber I watched might have used it a lot? But holy shit seeing the mobs takes me back
I remember these mods and old TH-camrs like TheWaffleGalaxy. Those were the days.
Kinda hard to forget treecapitator given how universal it was.
ok Creeps and Weirdos hits a niche of Minecraft i never knew i wanted- random creatively weird mobs that do different things
i hope the fan made update and the original creator who made the mod not only makes the 1.19.2 update, but expands upon the weirdness and other mechanics, like the two robots doing attacks exclusively against their rival, or the lawyers sending you to a courtroom to sue you
that’d be awesome
A mod I really loved watching let's plays of and eventually would play myself was the Spider Queen mod. The idea of you being a monster and raising ur army of spiders to take over the world was a very fun concept. I know it's had a few remakes but the OG still has a place in my heart.
Finally someone remember more creeps 'n weirdos. It was, and still will be my favorite mod of all time. It even added structures and new fun mechanics. God i loved discovering things in that mod
Mojang really does need to think about making some form of archimedes/zepplin/ships an official update.
I have not forgotten about Mo’ Creeps & Weirdos, the Minecraft mod of all time.
I was obsessed with that mod as a kid.
Treecapitator was one of my default mods whenever I was playing modded minecraft back in the day. It's still a thing I love to have for mods.
I definitely remember mods like more creeps and weirdos and the coral reef mod, but I remember there were other mob mods I remember, there was this one old dinosaur mod that brought you to a dimension filled with them, that mod came out before the fossils and archeology excavation mod and there was also this one mod with these weird creatures, such as an upright cow and pig and some passive blaze looking mob as well, there's a few other mentions as well that not many people might know
- a cookie dimension mod
- a mod about a dimension full of cats
- a shadow dimension mod
- and maybe the original nether X mod which added nether armor before Netherite was in the game (a lot of these mods I remember is because I watched a lot of mod showcases from DanTDM when I was around 10-11 years old.)
Ah. More Creeps & Weirdos. Truly one of the founding fathers of Minecraft Mods. There really needs to be a port for more modern versions. Maybe new content too?
The old Zeplin mod was the best. You didn't need to sit in a damn seat to move your airships.
Great video, tho could be nice to see Tale of Kingdoms mod too. People dont mention or talk about it anymore and it was by far THE BEST roleplaying mod out there back then
I somehow remember all of these, Zeppelin is still my favorite mod ever.
I've been playing with mods in minecraft since 2014 so seeing this video is incredibly nostaligiac. I started playing minecraft back in 2013, and have been keeping up with minecraft since 2011, seeing a lot of these early mod reviews wanting me to play the game especially with mods
OMG creeps n weirdos is def the most nostalgic mod EVER i remember watching youtubers play it and it just seemed like such a fun mod to play😭
The golem factory mod was mad underrated. It was a mod that let you create snow / iron golem type mobs out of any block, and some blocks granted them special abilities or properties. I remember finding a mod review by a channel named Iampeppino after watching the Minecraft ghost video.
Thank you for showing the zeppelin mod! Its still one of my favorites to this day
Block Distortion and the shelf(?) Mod, both from the Mod Loader creator
One of my most memorable mods was the "Tale of Kingdoms" mod. I remember I saw people us it a lot on youtube and always wanted to use it myself
There are bound to be a few but even without considering how much lower minecrafts popularity is now, a lot of that golden age minecraft content just doesnt have the same retention rate thanks to how YT works now, i remember multiple TH-camrs speaking out against changes years ago but nowadays that doesnt happen nearly at all even with how poorly youtube fails with reccomendation
the beach dimension & the hamsters that wear armor are the ones that stick around in my memory haha
I saw the gangster form Creeps N Weirdos and instantly got a bit of nostalgia, time to watch old playthrough vids!
I'm noticing Better than Wolves is making a MASSIVE comeback lately. Tons of content creators have made videos on it that have gotten hundreds of thousands if not millions of views
Man creeps and weirdos bring me vibes of that one series from a old youtuber when i was child
I always liked the Creeps n' Weirdos mod. if I knew how to mod I'd bring it back.
I never forgot any of these. I just never heard of them aside from better than wolf which I only heard about recently.
All these mods, but especially creeps and weirdos are so neat and dear to my heart!
I might be getting two mods confused, but I swear there was a parkour mod that also had Fist of the North star stuff put into it.
So not only did it let you climb blocks and wall jump, but you could also go full Kenshiro on mobs at the cost of your hunger bar. It was hilarious.
I remember playing creeps and weirdos in release 1.2, and been trying to remember what it was called for years, thanks!
more creeps and weirdos tickled me so much back then... i still think of it fondly.
thank you for making those videso. i stopped minecraft a short time before the "new" pvp stuff came in and hits became slower, but watching all those old mods and digging up some memories i had with them is so aweseome. thank you so much for your vids
4:00 oh hey, I'm literally going to start playing better than wolves today with my Minecraft friends!
I love how popular it is, even today :D
@@PaladinRyan no its not, no one knows how to make a free server so we can't and now we're going to play bedwars.
@@minebrandon95264 what version were you trying to play on?
@@Shmendan2 release 1.5.2 as that's the most recent version BTW supports
I remember tropicraft dimension and powercraft which added conveyor belts and other machines and a miner.
I know there's this one mod that was deleted but has been archived called the Shadow World mod.
The more creeps and weirdos mod is such a fever dream to me.
If not for this video, I would have gone my entire life forgetting that. Good times!
Creeps n weirdos brings back so much nostalgia with paperbatVG’s Minecraft survival series
More Creeps & Weirdos was always my favorite mod. I'd always pick it over Mo' Creatures. I'll never forget it
Great list. As always this community is top notch. Much love. Merry Christmas and happy new Year to all. Peace be with everyone and cheers!
Omg... Better than wolves being here woke a long lost memory in my brain. I loved Better than wolves so much.
"Floobs for the win" -the floobs
Zeppelin. That was the OG mod that inspired Archimedes and Valkyrian Skies. Finally found it. Still my favorite because of how optimized it was.
These mods are such classics.
_"the Moon is officially canceled."_ had me HOWLING with laughter.
Useful cobble was my favorite mod thats been forgotten. Sure its op, but gave me a reason to mine all that cobblestone.
I thought you were gonna say Orespawn or Lucky Block
Personally, I really strongly dislike Better Than Wolves. Thats putting it nicely.
mad cuz bad
@@po1sonseede9001 gibberish go brr
@@NolenGYT empty internet theory
Yeah, same here. It really felt less like "these additions would have been a lot cooler" and more "I have a weird hate-fetish against this one game feature in particular", especially as the mod got bigger.
fun how better than wolves seems to slowly be sparking again as well, when you said no hand holding i think you were wrong and it actually did, well, the exact opposite of hand holding
creeps and weirdos, i remember that one, that was so much fun. I really should try to not spoil myself on all the contents of a mod or modpack again.
The Zeppelin mod is actually what got me to try the game in the first place, way back. Shame there's no real modern equivalent but iirc it had some pretty major bugs.
As a kid i loved watching people make videos with the clay soldiers mod. It was a very unique and interesting mod
Never forgot about creeps and weirdos other than its name :D I hope they go through with reviving it
LOL omg that creeps and weirdos mod looks hilarious. That frigging baby is amazing, as is the letter G.
More creeps & weirdos is peak. I had a printout of blorp poster in my room growing up even though I never played it until 2022. That's just the power of Blorp Cola.
I think I used Zeppelin once because it looked EXTACTLY like Archimedes airships but Archimedes airships wasn't for the old game version I wanted
While good mods, they tend to be well remembered since every youtuber liked using them for their modded games (like the Yogs)
Great video, honestly I miss mo creeps and weirdos, super fun
But, honestly there was one mod I remember that no one else seems to and thats like, radiationcraft or something and it had a ton of materials and radioactive liquids you could craft with and stuff and unlike most radiation mods these days it didn't have power gen but laser guns or something I forget
And also, the lovely grey goo mod, wish that got an update somehow..
While i dont have any recollection of the name of the mod, i do remember seeing a mod like you described in one of the many mod showcases i watched, even having that inkling is crazy with how long ago i actually watched minecraft mod vids
I had such a love for Red Power 2. I know there is Project red, but I really got to know RP2 and loved my giant bore machines.
Yo the creeps and weirdos part of the video gave me the biggest nastolgia trip i recinzied every mob he showed each time i felt the nastolgia kick in lol
Natura was the best when I was younger. I loved the big ass trees and would hollow them out to make massive tree houses.
