- Today we're looking at a handful of Nintendo characters that were lost to time, spanning franchises such as Super Mario, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda. Some of them were featured in games that were cancelled, while others were tossed out before a games final release.

I remember developers talking about "Wapeach" in a Nintendo Power interview. Something along the lines of "we talked about giving Wario and Waluigi girlfriends, but we didn't want to know what they'd look like!"

The funny thing is: Whilst Camelot's Warupeachi was shelved by Nintendo Big N allowed Intelligent Systems to make their Shadow Queen to possess Peach and alter her appearance to an evil version of herself just about a mere four years later.
Probably because the Shadow Queen isn't ugly. And a one-off too.
In an alternate dimension people are complaining and memeing because Wapeach won't be added to Smash Ultimate
That might be this dimension if Waluigi makes it into the next Smash.

Imagine a game featuring all of the scrapped characters and enemies finding a new purpose or accepting demise. Wapeach would be an unseen goddess worshipped as a coping mechanism.
It could be Captain Rainbow 2.

There is a reference to Morshu in Zelda Age of Calamity
Wapeach is actually just Captain Syrup. The Wario Land devs created her to be a villainous parody of Peach the same way they made Wario to be a villainous parody of Mario.
Huh y'know she actually kinda looks like Pauline too.
My interpretation of WaruPeach’s appearance would be this female Street Urchin dressed in punk rock clothes with a mohawk.
Captain syrup being playable in the mario spin offs doesn't sound so bad.
Considering how Waluigi looks exactly like Boyacky, I'm surprised they just didn't create a version of Wapeach to look exactly like Miss Doronjo. No one outside of Japan would ever know.
It would've made the most sense if Waluigi was rejected that Captain Syrup would've been the best bet. Especially since she was an already an established character in the universe, as the biggest criticism of Waluigi is that he has no main game backstory
Country Kong would've been a good name.

Yeah it just sounds too much like Donkey Kong Country. If we went with a D or C starting letter its good though.
It would be funny if he got a spinoff game, and it was called "Country Kong Country." (With that said, I do think that would be a good name for the character.)
Pretty good title, but I'd go with "Country Kong in the Big City."

There's a bit more to the "Warui-Peach" story.
Camelot was struggling a bit to determine a doubles partner for Peach, and asked Nintendo for an idea, and Nintendo suggested Daisy, since she had appeared as Luigi's caddy in NES Open Tournament Golf and thus already had a presence in the sports games. Camelot obviously took the suggestion.
Then, after Nintendo gave approval on the creation of Waluigi, Camelot pitched an idea to Nintendo for an evil counterpart not only for Peach, but (and here's the part you don't often hear about) also for Daisy. Nintendo's response to the idea was "We don't want to see that."
Here after the reveal. We've seen Wapeach but not Wadaisy.
Oh that explains it, his name was Dead Kong.
I would've called him Bubba Kong.

@@nicholaslienandjaja1815 You mean Wadaisy? Luigi's girlfriend is Princess Daisy, and therefore Waliugi's girlfriend would be called Wadaisy, not Wapeach. Wapeach would be the name of Wario's girlfriend, since Mario's girlfriend is Princess Peach.

There was also an unused animal buddy in Donkey Kong Land - a ram with big horns called Bunkshus. He appeared in an issue of Nintendo Power and was apparently a good way to find bonus levels.
I remember Bunkshus! He was sort of a crossover between your everyday ram and an obscure bipedal fetish I've seen. I think I must've read that Nintendo Power issue from front to back a million times as a kid. And as I would flip through the pages at a rapid rate, I would always pause when I got to the page with Bunkshus. I don't know why I hesitated whenever I gazed at his render. I don't know why I felt a hot flash of guilt when I'd break the eye contact and turn the page. I don't know why I'd excuse myself from a family dinner to go to my room to hypnotically flip through that specific issue of Nintendo Power. All I know is that until today, I thought that Bunkshus was my own little filthy secret. You're the first bloke I've ever met with the same problems as me. If you're ever in the neighborhood I'll buy you a slice of the best artichoke pizza you've ever had bro!

Rare had some sick ideas for original characters, really wish Nintendo held on to them.
Oh god, every time i think I've completely forgotten about Project Hammer it always comes back to keep haunting me.

2:29 Well so far on terms of Diddy Kong Pilot builds, we only really have 2 that were dumped in just a 14-month timeframe; One from 2003 in November 2011, and one from circa 2001 in January 2013 (both had videos uploaded in November 2011 by PerfectRare, prior to their eventual public availability).
Diddy Kong Pilot looked pretty cool.

Regarding the kong at 2:57, esteemed researcher, Robert Kongman, believes that this may actually be Donkey Kong III's long lost father.
I was watching this and didn't notice that they got backseat to do this episode, but I'm so happy they did!
I like to imagine that Daisy WAS "Warupeachi" or w/e you'd call her, at some point in her life. But then she got over all that, and decided to become her own person. And maybe that's why she's constantly reminding everyone of her name... she wants to establish her current 'brand' and make us forget that she ever was anything else.
Always had this idea for a Wario and Waluigi game that is kinda like, GTA in the mushroom kingdom and their boss is Wapeach, who use to be the queen of the mushroom kingdom until peach came along and she like, ran away or something and really let herself go in some cave
Ahhh, project Hammer. Had high Hope's for that one along with Disaster day of crisis. Two early wii titles that were supposed to show Nintendo's edgier mature side.
I think good names for Wario-versions of Princess Peach & Princess Daisy would be Mistress Leach and Mistress Hazy, but I doubt Nintendo would agree to such things.
Aria's outfit is basically just Marin's from Link's Awakening.

Dragon Hopper still haunts me 25 years later. I wanted the game so bad and it would have been the last x2 game I would have bought for the system. It got so bad I called Nintendo up about 30+ times the end of that year wondering when the game was finally coming out.

Two things about M09:
1) It looks like an Xbox 360 launch title, not a Nintendo game.
3) It was clearly inspired by some executive going "We need to utilise motion controls" and the game was built from the motion controls, integrating the concept into the scheme, instead of building from a concept and integrating the motion controls into the concept.
